Thanks for the advice. I also got 3Ds in my As, and I'm now struggling to know how I can get at least B's in my Alevels, that's coming up in May '19. I hope I can achieve my goals now.
Not gonna lie Ryhan...i confidently picked my subjects because i enjoyed them. I chose the same subjects as you except instead of CHEMISTRY i chose Maths. In my recent economic test...i got a U. I aspire and am motivated to get an A* - and this video was exactly that i needed. Thank you!
@@mdot9551 i used the specification , mostly all what Ryan said but what really helped was class discussions and alot of tests ( active recall) but the dumb thing is i would be the highest in my class with a d 😂 because we were pre exposed that in Economics is difficult. About uni i am doing accounting not Economics though .👊
@@78hfdl since you got a D during first year, what where your predictions and how did they change? (e.g, were you predicted a D before you broke up for summer in year 12 & did the teachers change that to an A before you sent off your application in year 13?)
I have Bio chm and Eco in a levels as well. I honestly enjoyed economics at a time but then when i opened the mark scheme i realized there is very little room for independent thinking and creativity, what gets considered a right answer is very specific so now i just want to get it over with.Oh and i always run out of time!
rafath chowdury physics is crazy as hell but manageable? I know the key to physics is just hard work, you can get away with knowing less if you just do enough papers, it’s just CHEMISTRY I don’t even underSTAND
Also with chem practice papers are definitely key because the questions do repeat. Just make sure you also get the CGP revision guide and use your spec codes.
Hi Ryhan do the a level textbooks endorsed from that exam board for Biology and Chemistry have all the material and detail to get an A or A* grade and the endorsed textbooks from the exambaord do they have the right wording that the mark scheme wants .
I try to do lots of past papers, but my teacher only marks like 1 or 2 every couple of weeks, did you self mark all ur economics essay? How do I mark my essays if my teacher isnt gonna mark it :(
I never fully wrote out all my essays, there’s not really much point. I used to make plans for as many possible essay titles I could think of that way I was prepared for whatever I got in the exam.
hello Ryhan for my first year of a level i got a D in economics and i think its because i did not really had a proper timetable and now i am resitting for the a level exam this year and i have only 6 months to finish up with my revision. Could you suggest me a way of how much time i need to spend for economics revision and if you could share your revision timetable as well. With kind regards Jenn.
Did u start writing AS notes 5 months before? Or had u already written them by the start of upper sixth form? Cos I haven’t written AS notes and I’m worrying it’s too late to get a good mark😭
Hi Ryhan ! I am from Pakistan , I am doing CIE physics and maths ( both As and A2 combine ) . I am so scared because I feel it too difficult than o level . I just want to ask that is four moths enough to get A grade in both subjects if I work hard ( like if I study 8 to 10 hours daily ) .
I was using the OCR endorsed textbook, but basically the larger ‘textbooks’ are in my opinion pointless to revise from because they have too much information in them
I had 2.5A*, 6A, 1B, 1C which is below average for the average medical student but I've had 1 offer and 3 interviews so far. GCSEs don't matter for most unis but make sure you apply to unis that don't care about GCSEs. Apply to unis that only want you to meet the minimum GCSE requirements (e.g, Newcastle, Brighton and Sussex, Plymouth, Exeter etc.). Keep in mind though this means your other parts of your application need to be strong
Murtaza Haidary No medical school (except certain colleges in Cambridge) asks for maths A level. I've had 3/4 interviews for medicine so far and I took Biology, chemistry and history
rafath chowdury some people want to do it because: money, prestige, genuinely want to help people, enjoy sciences, enjoy ethics and philosophy, want to keep the NHS alive, flexible career choices, good job security. Many reasons. But the ones going in for prestige and money arent in the right state if mind.
rafath chowdury when you’re in GCSE you are still immature and young and i know that from experience that many people (almost 60%) from my school said they wanted to do medicine for money. Now that people see what medicine is all about, a lot of people have looked at other careers which makes me happy because it lessens the number of misinformed people going into medicine and gives a chance for those who genuinely want to study the subject.
rafath chowdury Yes a lot of people tend to find that out during A-levels. They can chase money with less stress with degrees such as economics and engineering etc. Im not saying that every student wants to chase money but if you ask people, genuinely, most will say that money is a factor when deciding what career path to go through
hassan nassar yh I’m doing economics and physics and maths cuz I realised I could get the same amount of money by do these subjects rather than one like med where the competition is considerably high
YES YOU CAN but in my school you really have to pester your teachers/heads of department (or whomever is incharge) to get them changed, call it persistence. Also you need to try and get the best grades you can in all your test from here until end of year exams, even if it's just a key word test, so your teachers see that you are actually capable of reaching those higher predictions. Hope that info helps a little bit.
Most medical schools don't really care about GCSEs so long as you have a minimum B in English and maths. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try for them. If you get high GCSEs, you'll stand a good chance in GCSE heavy unis like Cardiff
omarmanutd I don't even think I'm going to do well at all because my predicted grades are around 8 and 9 ( A*) but I'm seriously underachieving and getting only 6s (B)... A level I definitely know I'll be able to do decent because the subjects in picking I'm actually interested in and am doing well in them rn so...
Thats mad how you ended up with an A* in econ. Well done
Cheers Dylan

Why did you pick Durham instead of the other two??
