The ultimate dis song. Queen's first manager Sheffield took all their money. They had delivered 3 successful albums and done at least 3 successful tours and they were each still living in the same flats they had been when they started and each making about 20 quid per week. They thought that everything was going back into the band's fund but when they wanted to lend John Deacon money for a down payment on a house they were told that there was no money and that in fact they were in serious debt and basically bankrupt, while Sheffield had just bought himself a brand new Rolls Royce. The band was really upset and Freddie wrote this song. Brian was hesitant about recording it because he thought they would be sued, but he eventually agreed. Freddie said if he sues, he is basically admitting that the song is about him. Sheffield sued and lost but the band did have to buy their way out of their contract.
Sadly there are times in one’s life when only this song will do ✌🏼😂 Queen had every reason to do this song… It basically covers the situation at hand 👑😊
The band suffered hardship promoting Sheer Heart Attack. Brian May got hepatitis while in America and they had to bale out and return to the UK. Great song, great choice. Listening to this song is such a great way to unburden pent up grievances.
Hit record with Killer Queen the boys saw very little money.Record company did nicely with Queens money. This is don't make Freddie angry .aThey changed record companies before Bohemian Rhapsody was released never looked back after that Deacy took over the business side .
Viscous guitar. Queen settled out of court with Norman Sheffield, who later wrote an autobiography “Life On Two Legs”.😂😂😂 Imagine buying the album “A Night at the opera” (to hear BoRhap perhaps). You get home with your treasure, put it on the turntable and this roars out. It segues into Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon and I always like to listen to them together. Great reaction as always.
Love this song. Night at the Opera is my favorite Queen album. At the end of the song, my mind automatically went to "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon", the next track on the album with a TOTALLY different vibe.
In the film Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen were quite shrewd in that they brought in Mike Myers to play their first manager. Not wanting to name him, they gave him a South Yorkshire accent to suggest his surname - Sheffield. Nudge nudge....
Mike Myers did not play Queen’s first manager. He played Ray Foster (a fictional person) , an executive at the record company Queen were trying to release Bo~Rhap through
And another thing, best to do proper research on the band and not believe what’s shown in the movie, coz it’s all shit , half of what happened in that film didn’t even happen in real life
Queen could have said what they liked about Norman Sheffield in the movie, he'd been dead 4 years when it came out. Can't defame the dead, and his kids can't sue. In case anyone says you shouldn't speak ill of the dead, I'm reminded of when Joan Crawford died, her long time rival Bette Davis said:“You should never say bad things about the dead, you should only say good . . . Joan Crawford is dead. Good.”
How I love this band. Everything they do sounds great to me. This guy cheated them out of the money they worked hard for! My guitar would be played with anger, too. Thanks for the request, and thanks to Harri for your great reaction 🎉
The Sheffield brothers were buying Rolls Royces and fur coats for their wives while the band lived on 60 pounds a month…..they contacted Don Arden ( Sharon Osborne’s dad) yes, that’s Ozzy’s wife . And got them out of their contract
They went with Elton's manager, John Reid. Don Arden would have been a good way of getting out, but back under an even bigger a/hole. Was known for hanging other managers out of upstairs windows if he thought they were trying to poach acts, and asked Jimmy Page how he planned to play guitar with broken fingers when Page wanted Steve Marriott (1st choice as vocalist) for Zeppelin. Arden kept the Small Faces in as much poverty as NS did Queen.

Vitriol is a good word to describe this. So many managers/accountants have stole money from artists. It's nice to hear a song calling them out.

Me too..
Their best song in my opinion.
In surround sound it sounds amazing.
Great song choice Harri and you guessed right it was about their manager.
First manager, as I understand it.
Absolutely. Bled them dry.
Their manager at the time! He stole them for 5 years
Remember this from night at the opera !! Great tune.
My favorite queen song by far love you
great song and wonderful reaction ! Keep the Queen coming

Queen albums definitely needed to be played as a full album!
And now you know why Freddie took to showing his ass at every live performance forever after 😂 (that line … and now you can kiss my ass goodbye )
Always loved this - very apt today for many of us in the UK!
