5 of my last 6 drafts have been like this, drafted some absolutely insane decks that should have been super consistent and then just get actually shit on by the MTG shuffler.
@@woocls4973 Agreed. And it's become mostly accessible to very good players. I am just a casual player but playing online draft means going 1-3 and 0-3 95% of the time. And that's unfun too

@@Typhus2 I mean you have to realize that the meaning of true randomness is sometimes that you will draw 15 lands in a row. Keep in mind that there's 40! (approx. 8.1 * 10^47) valid shufflings of a 40 card deck. At the end of the day the specific shuffling we saw in game 1 is just as likely as any other individual shuffling of the deck, so although it's extremely unlikely in a specific game that you'll get flooded out that badly, if you play enough games you are likely to play a game where your deck was stacked in the most miserable way possible. That's just life, randomness, and the fact that you're simply playing far more games on Arena than you likely ever have in real life.

I redact my previous comment on a different draft video. As much as it stinks for you to feel like you have a good deck and then perform poorly, it gives me hope. I feel like this all the time. It’s a comfort to know even someone at your level had poor luck and gets frustrated. Thanks for the vids. You help me to be a better drafter.
Watching you handle the flood is inspirational. We’ve all been there with the RNG and it is ROUGH. Thank you for sharing your content. I always learn so much from it.
I'm sorry, but you saying Stroke of Midnight would be better than Make Your Move if the opponent had Krenko or something, then you ending up with Make vs Krenko game 3 is hilarious. That felt scripted. It's like the universe really wanted to mess with you.
Hey man just wanted to say you are phenomenal player with minimal if any miss plays in all your videos. You do a great job at explaining what you are thinking during the draft and matches, I have learned a lot from you. You loose gracefully but you should concede less often and make you opponent go the distance, you never know what the next draw could be or if your playing a fan and they might want to play you longer. Been watching you for a few months but the fact you're willing to post this made want to sub and follow. Either way you're the man keep doing your thing.
when you play enough, you know when a game is a < 1% of winning, so to reduce the time you spend losing (which takes a toll on your mind), you should just concede. people think you need to eek out every %, but sometimes you will win more in the long run by conceding in these spots (playing better, less tilt, less tired). however, if you want to watch someone who never concedes, i can only think of reid duke
@@dudaseifert i agree with both of you But in the last game we only need a creature with axe and we re back in the game. Op having a lot of cards doesnt mean he has removal! I think Kenji was just frustriate which is understable!

Got my first trophy in this format with BW where I was picking the blue duals very highly. Got lucky/rewarded with two Empyreans and a Scavenger as my blue cards.
My uw flyer decks found all 16 lands in the first 22 cards of my deck, only saw 6 non lands, the fact my opponent wasn't able to kill me till then either is what really added to the salt, but that's magic ig
Same scenarios here, nothing you can do about wraths on two of those games as those decks are the winning decks most of the time if wrath hits the table.
When this happens to me, I literally just bust out laughing at the absurdity. 2 mana floods with 16 lands is diabolical work. Sorry fam, your deck was sweet. It was too bad all I saw were the lands in it 😭
I went 1-3 with an amazing boros deck with 3 heroic reinforcements. Ending up playing 3 people who had drafted aetherise (and drew it). The point I am making is, I feel your pain.
Is this situation common or rare with you my friend? It happens a lot in my account.. i build great decks, 7 wins decks for sure.. but some evil force (mtgashuffler/matchmaking) always jokes on me.. i wish we could play against the other 7 players that was in the same table.. but.. i dont know if this will be possible in mtga.. cuz i dont like the idea of a suspicious algorithm searching for my opponents.. always bad matches, the opponent having all the answers, great bombs and always in the right time.. very "weird"
I drafted a birds deck the other night with 3 of the uncommon +1/+1 to other fliers cards, very tough to stop a legion of 3/4 owls for any length of time.. Sorry it didn't work out for you this time around :(
I’ve had 2 different nut UW decks and won 1 game combined. The 1 deck had 3 eagles and 4 mystics and went 1-3. Time to give the set a break for a little.
That was an amazingly well maneuvered draft and yet I somehow managed to trophy with a very mediocre Black/White deck. There is truly no justice in this world.
They really need to do something about that shuffler i dont know what it is that they can do but something has to be done like drawing 7-8 lands in a row is just absurd i had the same issue for 2 days that i draw 6-7-8 lands in a row in my games back to back.
Arena finally realized you were sad facing all of their games regardless. They decided that if you were going to say you weren't having fun they were going to make it true.
I've had multiple u/w fliers decks fail just as hard, and they were better lists. So I'd say it's a mid tier archetype and looking to draft other builds from now on.
I think the issue is that u/w fliers is a tempo deck that has no answers to non attacking creatures other than banishing light since most stay away from Stroke of Midnight

That said I do not enjoy your pain but I do enjoy showing the bad results as well. Keeps in realistic. Still some entertainment.
This deck was definitely good. Super bad luck. That game where you drew 12 of your 16 lands, you could say "That's Magic, Baby" but I think more appropriate to say "That's Arena, Baby" because that simply doesn't happen in paper, but is a regular occurance on Arena.
"That's magic baby!" IMO is not accurate when playing arena. Perhaps you could say "That's arena baby!" Paper magic would never produce such ridiculous outcomes on such a regular basis.
Don't know why youre so adverse to Stroke of midnight. I get that spells which give your opponent a creature, even if it's just a 1/1, are usually frowned upon, but in this case I think the card has enough going for it to make it worth it. Its relatively cheap at 3 mana, can be cast at instant speed and removes any permanent. Its a good card imo.
