@@regularslick6038 Old comment, but: the "damn right, Knuckles" in Death Chamber was only in the soundtrack version, not actually in-game. [Edit to clarify: there's a common misconception that it was in the Dreamcast version but edited out for SA2B, but in reality, it wasn't in either version.] (But the "ain't a damn thing funny" from his theme is definitely there in-game) Though in SA2B's 2P shooting battle mode, the Dark Chao walker definitely has an attack called Hell Bomber. And one of SADX's added missions is something about visiting the "jail of burning hell" in Red Mountain. Seems they weren't too shy about slipping in a "hell" (and one "damn") here and there, though it seems reasonable if they didn't want it affecting people's first impressions by putting it in the very first cutscene of this game, lol (To answer an even older comment: in Secret Rings, Sonic said something about opening "the gates of hell")
Bet you that the Japanese version still has that very line in it, the Japanese don’t see the same swears we use as swears. The only difference is the Japanese audio will still use subtitles for the English dub in the final game.
i remember when i playing this in best buy as kid i remember my parents were looking for us a new computer and the whole time i was playing the demo and i stayed there so long one of the best buy employes told me to let someone else have a try at the game lol
Dreamcast was so far ahead of its time. Seriously, with the smothed 3D modeling it was closer to the graphics capability of what i would imagine a ps2 1/2 would be like xD
Sonic Adventure 2 Demo version "What the Hell!", Sonic Adventure 2 Unknown from M.E. "Ain't a damn thing funny", Sonic Heroes "Oh my God!", Shadow the Hedgehog "Damn and Damn it!", Sonic 06 His World "Kicking ass fast!", Japanese version of Sonic X "Hell, damn a**, b**tard, b**ch, s**t, piss, etc", and several other Japanese version of the Sonic the Hedgehog games. See, even though Sonic the Hedgehog is a video game series aimed towards kids just like Mario, SEGA pushes lines compared to Nintendo.
Whoever is playing is really, REALLY used to playing the gamecube version... he tries to somersault an enemy on the stairs that isn't in the dreamcast version.
I don't remember the guy saying "What the hell?" And yes, I am talking about the demo disc. Then again, I was 4 and was told never to use the online feature in PSO. Now I see that was for my own protection.
To answer SonicRiderFoLife question yes he runs faster in the dreamcast version, when he goes down the building in SA2, in the gamecube version he runs a little slower.
@viacommustdie3 Sega didn't make the shoes, some company called "Soap" made the "Soap shoes." It was some kind of endorsement deal between the two companies, which is why you can see the Soap logo all over the game.
What's interesting is that the SOAP deal must've come after this demo was made since after 2:30 the billboard in the retail version is a SOAP advertisement.
I remember being kind of disappointed when I finally got the game and heard how City Escape's music had changed. I really preferred the version from the demo without the lyrics.
***** Just as a personal preference I enjoyed the original version a lot more, particularly segments like 2:05, which was much less noticeable in the final version. I always kind of thought that the lyrics were a little cheesy… any not necessarily in the good way. Not bad by any stretch of the imagination. I just preferred the other.
his soap shoes look cooler in this game. the only thing i dont like about them is that they put so much detail on the shoes, but i still like them. his grinding in this game looks more legit.
is it just me or does spindash look alot more faster in this? like i mean in sonic adventure 1 as SOON as you hit x or b whatever you instantly spindash is it like that?
@RikkiTheHedgehogDX While I will agree, it would've been better had he kept his normal shoes, SOAP paid SEGA to put their shoes in the game, hence Sonic and Shadow's ability to grind by using their SOAP Shoes.
The HD port is comming out by the end of the year, and the game looks amazing. I hope it plays the same also. he's even keeping his grinding shoes like in the original, but i think the soap ads will be removed from the game. I hope the still sponsor soap though, so little kids can say "I want those shoes
@DAYD111 i agree it would be the best sonic game with a good story and good graphics too on new games your only holding the up button :S theres no chao gardens too.....
lol yea...i have a question though...when sonic runs full speed does he put his arms back like in the original or not?if uve noticed...i think he does though
It's weird but I more like the way Sonic's running. The moves are more fluid and when he jump with the board it's even more realist than the original game footages. But for the shoes, it's kinda special without the Soap. XD I would like if they bring back that shoes for another game. Or they shouldn't? I mean, it's the only one great Sonic game that the Sonic Team ever made, that should be unique so.
Why is sonic in sky rail in the ending video? That would be cool in the real game, except maybe have it on a different course and have it at night (so that there are ghosts)
@SonicSuperDash If you think the xbox owns the ps3 then youre sorely mistaken, the only reason xbox sells more games and consoles is because 1-its cheaper (but not in the long run) to buy an xbox, 2-it has a few xbox only releases (halo, GoW, etc) and 3-the people that buy it are often like "Dude you should buy a 360 so you can play herpa derp derp online with me!" I'm not a sony fanboy but I prefer PS3 over xbox for the raw power of its graphics capability and free online play.
Is it rare to have this on a double disk Sonic Adventure 1? I bought it recently and the case says 2 CD Not For Resale and comes with Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2 The Trial. I have tried to find another one online like it but so far have been unsuccessful
I could just imagine being born around 1993, getting this in 2000 for a Dreamcast and playing it over and over again.
Hoshi No Kaabii Trust me when I say that I was, I did and God did I love it. Totally worth it my dude (σ^▽^)σ

Got phantasy star online just to play this demo...didnt even play pso
That must have sucked.
i remember when the soap shoes made it on tv you can actualy grind on them and man do i want one. when i got sa2 i was very surpriesed that sonic was wearing them
from 4:56 onwards I swear that trailer makes SA2 look like a horror movie and man do I fucking love it
Two major differences
1.Sonic shoes aren't soap shoes
2.City escape doesn't have lyrics
this came out before they signed a contract with soap
Jet Set Sonic I know why they weren't there but thanks for informing me anyhow.
your welcome
They also changed the robot at 2:52
Martha Soto That is in the trailer and I am only bringing up things in the actual game apart from the trailer.
"What the hell...?"
Seems that Shadow's game wasn't the only one that would have involved cursing.
And Shadow's game wasn't the last either (Sonic and the Secret Rings & unused Knuckles lines from Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric)
Who else
Edit: I mean else cursed

Playing SA2 is habit forming.
Dont power off your system.
5 people had powered off their system.
I like how the checkpoint sound is the SA1 variant, Shame they removed that.
*prepares to sing along with Escape from the City* Rolling around--
Wait, what?
WHERE ARE THE VOCALS?! D:
(Proceeds to hear the insturmental part of classic sonic's theme) Me: Ohh it all makes sense now.
IKR? XDD
wait. sonic sounds like mario when he does a trick...
Japanese Sonic voice
They should bring back the soap shoes one day
I still have six pairs
This is an eternal time capsule.
Whoever is playing is really, REALLY used to playing the gamecube version... he tries to somersault an enemy on the stairs that isn't in the dreamcast version.
Not gonna lie, it’s a bit cursed seeing sonic in this game without his soap shoes
Exactly.
Video thumbnail looks like Sonic is boosting in SA2
I have never heard Escape From the City without lyrics. :O I like it!
no soap shoes on sonic
Because they didn't sign a partnership with Soap when the trial version was made.It was a last minute decision.
i know lol

dont be a dick
long live soap shoes
*the most irritating thing in this video*

I prefer this version of "Escape From the City". It's a shame no one's ripped it...
That trailer at the end goes beyond any form of the word 'epic'.
I have the Trial too! Pretty fun, The City Escape music is better than the singing.
the graphics hardly changed when it was released...
I wish he kept his original sneakers in this game.
Man I remember getting this game with my dreamcast Christmas morning of 2001. I was hooked
i like how he runs in this version
@viacommustdie3 Sega didn't make the shoes, some company called "Soap" made the "Soap shoes." It was some kind of endorsement deal between the two companies, which is why you can see the Soap logo all over the game.
He still has the sa1 running animation :o
What's interesting is that the SOAP deal must've come after this demo was made since after 2:30 the billboard in the retail version is a SOAP advertisement.
No one hates the vocals. They're some of the best parts that separate Sonic music from other game soundtracks
Interesting that the teaser at the end doesn't have Tails or Rouge in it.
I remember being kind of disappointed when I finally got the game and heard how City Escape's music had changed. I really preferred the version from the demo without the lyrics.

on the dc version. in the opening cutscene, there's a goof where for a short time, he has his old shoes.
how to install the trial Sonic Adventure 2 on PC

@coolmedina10 Yeah, I found this out a few weeks ago. Thanks for looking out, though. I appreciate it. ^_^
I got this trial too when I bought a dreamcast.. I miss those days.
They weren't even gonna know sonic would wear beside his origonal shoes yet
oh man, thnx for the story xD
yeah, at least he did get his orignal shoes and hopefully sticks with them...

games like this are what made the dreamcast so great...
cool Sonic did a flip in that beginning scene. He didn't do it in the gc. Not only that but those are his original shoes. There not fancy or nothin
@RikkiTheHedgehogDX NEVER He should of kept the Soap Shoe
Holy shit, Sky Rail was originally a Sonic level?
I just noticed that the notes are the same as in Classic City Escape! I thought Cash Cash actually composed new music. I was wrong.
lol at the gun soldiers in the beginning instead of just saying what the they say what the hell.
i mean:He does in Sa2 but not in a few of other games

Oh wow. City Escape was instrumental in The Demo.
And the wait was worth it.

saifuddin jamil The rank sound effect was also originally the one in the final when you earn yourself an emblem.
that city escape music is awesome!!
where i can download it??
