- Cedric Golden from the Austin American Statesman stops by to talk Longhorns football and focus on why superstar backup QB Arch Manning is sticking with Steve Sarkisian's Longhorn program despite Quinn Ewers sticking around Austin for another season. Cedric also breaks down the 'Horns 2024 schedule and chastises Paul for failing to swing thru and say Hi on a recent trip to the ATX
Cedric is so uninformed on the roster, this roster is deeper and more athletic that last years.

Arch’s arm strength and athleticism gives him a really high ceiling.
Texas has three NFL-quality arms on its roster. Freshman Trey Owens can make all the throws too.

Arch Manning only played 2A high school ball in Louisiana. He was nowhere near ready last year. It only benefits Arch to wait and start in 2025 when he’s ready and won’t kill his confidence.

He's ready this year but your point is well taken. 2a football to d1 college is a very big jump like you said. He's going to be a very good quarterback next year because he was patient enough to wait and learn.
A lot of great match ups coming in the Fall. How well will the new boys on the block do? How far does bama fall post Saban? Going to be fun.
Arch needs to stay as long as he can. The development stage is important
Arch is 6’4” and 220+ -- that is a perfect size since he runs fast and moves well. At Spring game, it will be interesting to see his deliverable. He had a low take back in 2023.
Texas has a gravy schedule compared to Oklahoma
Texas may have an easier schedule than Oklahoma, but to say that it's a gravy schedule when it has both the prior national champions on it is silly.
Texas has played more SEC teams before OU entered. So it’s fair. We scheduled bama back to back… not to mention played and beat Georgia a couple years back. That what happens when you schedule big opponents and not no body’s. Example. Texas scheduled Michigan before they were even the champs. Who did OU schedule this year? It better not be a no body? If it is then it proves my point. Texas has been scheduling the biggest opponents since Sark became the Coach.

As far as the SEC schedule sure, but they play Michigan. I dont see how thats relevant anyways. After a couple seasons when the schedules flip, Texas will have the harder schedule by far. Is Texas supposed to complain about it then?

I agree, Finebaum and Golden know nothing about the players on this team. O-line is 3 deep and most positions in the program are 2 or three deep as well.
Inside Texas Football and On Texas Football have a way better grasp on the Longhorns players and depth than these two will ever have. The Team, over all, is much faster than last year, even with the New Receivers and portal players. Sark has done very well grabbing the right guys from the portal that compliment the Longhorns. They have been developing thier youger players and people will be suprised that there will be little to no dropoff when players go down or get rotated in/out this year. O-line is in year 3 and should be greatly improved as well as the backfield being much more experienced. sure Losing the 2 best DL in the country last year will hurt, but they have some great guys coming in and I'm sure PK and other DC's will scheme up to use the talent they have the best way for the players in those positions. I believe, from what I've seen and read, that our Secondary will be much improves as well as the LB and Edge positions, which should take some of the heat off of the DL position.
The whole Arch storyline is like every other Arch Storyline, CLICKBAIT, he's been developing and doing very well. He's in year two and will make great strides in Sarks offense this year and be a starter and great QB for Texas next year.
Man, that schedule is brutal. It should easily be the toughest schedule in the country.
