But I HAVE noticed... and lost 1, won 4 by keeping my mouth shut. But I still noticed, and FEAR that it's enough for Baseball Gods to jinx me. Hubby - a former pitcher - says, "No, not really. But God did invent far-ends-of-benches just for me." ha ha - he NEVER lets me have any fun-!! I remain fearful of OU... I need about 9 of 10 wins in a decade for me to relax with OU. Then a&m. I will NEVER relax for those... a 63-0 lead into halftime and I'm still paint-scraping the stadium walls. "Wait - didn't that sign read W-O-MAN a few minutes ago?" Did it? • @MattHunoval
    @MattHunoval 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Wow. I’ve been a Texas fan since living in Austin in 1996, was at DKR on the historic day-after Thanksgiving rivalry game w/ A&M & saw Ricky Williams on Nov. 27, 1998 when he broke Tony Dorsett’s all-time rushing record & in that game, he rushed for 259 yards- that year he won the Heisman & averaged 193 rushing yards per game (!) his senior season. Then the magical glory years under Mack Brown and that run with VY and Colt McCoy (talk about pulling from central casting to be the Texas QB). And over the last 13 years, as the glory years dimmed a bit more each passing underwhelming year, the fall from greatness was 100% deserved and 100% predictable as the hunger & drive became replaced by entitlement, laziness, a lack of toughness, the loss of the power of a sheer will to win…. Hard to watch these past 13 years as Icarus flew a bit too close to the sun, his wings melted, and he came crashing down to earth. And Texas took- and deserved- the derision of the college football world these past 13 years. No excuses for that program to be above average for over a decade. I’ve remained a fan during these many lean years, and it’ll always be a mystery why that program with those resources couldn’t consistently have 9+ wins every year. I’ll never understand it, but the end results of the lean years speak for themselves. When Sark was hired, I was skeptical after the debacle of Charlie Strong & then Tom Herman expecting Sam Elinger (who had the heart of a lion) to single-handedly carry Texas… which he did for quite a few games, but you don’t build the foundation of a sustainable program & a culture for future years when you rely on a single QB and a handful of all-pro skill guys (Bjon Robinson- truly a stud and give credit where credit is due, he was a Tom Herman recruit). So then Sark comes in and goes 5-7 his first year. Then 8-4 his 2nd year. But the moment for me where I knew there was something different, when finally after 11 years of mediocrity and the butt of well-deserved jokes, the moment where I began to sense something was changing & the almost-dead ember of hope got just a little bit of Oxygen & began burning just a bit brighter vs continuing to turn cold and die out was 2 years ago & that first of the home-and-home vs the Saban & Bryce Young-led team of the Goliath Alabama coming into DKR and my jaw droppped watching that game: Alabama won by the scoreboard on a brilliant heroic drive by Bruce Young, but Texas was the better team that day and beat Alabama on the lines of scrimmage… and but for the muffed safety call in the 4th Q , Texas would’ve won on the scoreboard as well. That was when I knew things were finally (finally) turning the corner from more than a decade of mediocrity. Sure that year Texas went 8-4, but that’s the moment- that first game vs Alabama at home that they lost on the scoreboard but won on the field… that one game was the springboard & catalyst for going from 8-4 to 11-2 & now to this year where there is no ceiling. The biggest difference: Texas is at least 2 deep at every single position on the field, especially the lines on both sides of the ball. Have had my hopes dashed too many times over the last 12-13 years to make any bold predictions, but Sark has finally put together the foundations to create a program that isn’t just about this team this year & how Texas could really do something special in 2024… but Sark more importantly has built a program and is stacking classes thru his emphasis on culture…. THAT is the difference. And this interview by Paul Feinbaum with one of the best corners in college football- his humility, his gratitude, the us before me, the brotherhood… this interview with Jahde is a window into how the team is functioning & why Texas is doing what they’re doing. There are a handful of teams each year that are capable of winning it all.. and this year, Texas is among those small handful of 3-4 teams. Lot of football left to play, but man they’re firing on all cylinders. Biggest improvements this year in no particular order: the secondary, Red Zone efficiency, Quinn Ewers, and as a unit overall the wide receivers & TE group, cumulatively.
