Outstanding video Evan, it is one of the best Yellowstone videos that I have seen. You are continually getting better and better every video and you narration is excellent. Thanks for sharing and I am looking forward to future videos.
Absolutely remarkable! The video footage, the stills, the narration.....just incredible. The marten photos are worthy of awards! I would so like to join your workshops, but at 76, the days of hunkered down in the snow and cold are probably over. I was first in Yellowstone 72 years ago, when the black bears were fed as an attraction, and on the roadways would come right up to cars. One stuck a paw up on the open window of the back seat of our car at one stop, and my little girl voice was heard by my mom in the front seat: "Hello, Mr. Bear!" I was ready to open the door and let him in, I imagine, when my mom yelled to my brother to roll up the window. I don't personally remember the incident, but the story was told many times over the years. I share your love of Yellowstone, and it is also my favorite place of all.
My family was there this year when the wolves took the bison in the river. It was the most amazing natural event of my life. Thanks to our snow coach drivers over two days that took us to some amazing beautiful once in a lifetime views. I don't have enough walls for all the photographs I am getting printed. We saw some uncommon animals. Flying Squirrels, Ermine, Pine Martin, Pacific Fisher, "Mousing" Coyote, Wolves, Eagles, Elk, Bison, Owls
Great video. My wife and I were lucky enough to have been on a snowmobile tour the day that the Wapati pack brought down the bison. It was truly sad but nature at work.
Hi from BZN! I just wanted to say that the last half of the video in particular was edited incredibly well, the pacing, narration and letting the scene speak for itself was wonderful, it would have been easy to just rush through it. What a heart breaking situation yet a realistic portrayal of the wilderness, thank you!
Once again thank you Evan for putting this all together. You are definitely a born storyteller and you have learned the skills to work with the tools to document those stories. The perspective of a winter Snowcoach driver made it quite interesting.
Such an amazing place and a great video. I was blessed to take a snow coach tour of Yellowstone in December 2022 and see how beautiful it is in the winter. I got some amazing Bison images. I hope to return again one day.
glad you got access to yellowstone in winter. must be nice to experience wildlife in snow season. long live bear 399. can’t wait to see your content in teton. i just love seeing those giant grizzlies.
Great video as always. Had a chance to meet Evan today. Great guy. He certainly helped build the excitement for our photo trip in Yellowstone and Tetons. Thanks Evan!
Awesome video! I spent time in the Park in February 2022-a few nights in Gardiner exploring the northern part, and then two nights at the Snow Lodge. I loved every minute of it. The snowcoach rides were great and all my drivers made it even better. I've been on the fence about what road trip to take in my new (to me) car in a few weeks, but watching your video today has convinced me to choose Yellowstone. I've only been in winter, so it will mostly be new to me.
Thanks you! That is fantastic, I’m glad you had such a good trip, and I hope your next one is just as good! The park is beautiful this time of year, albeit more crowded than winter, but still amazing.
That Bison vs. Wolf pack scene was a real dynamic range challenge, the topography was working against you being able to isolate the animals from the background, and the scene was rife with visual distractions, yet you managed to pull out some very nice stills. Great work making the most of a challenging situation!
Incredible video Evan, if there ever was a job I would do for free it would be a Yellowstone snowcoach driver, I have friends here in the UK that told me I should revisit Yellowstone in the winter as it can be amazing views. The wolves and the bison reminded me of a safari where we witnessed hyena's kill a wildebeest was horrific to watch but it's nature and the circle of life, keep up the amazing videos.
Black hills, foveon, bad lands, kids, camping. Sounds like an amazing road trip! I've always wanted to try a foveon camera, and I may be imagining things but the images look so detailed. Great concept. Good times!
Thank you for sharing! We are in love with yellowstone but its not so easy for us to get there from youtube on a frequent basis. Your videos are important to us
September has become my favorite time of year to visit the park. Not sure if I have the intestinal fortitude to endure some of the Wyoming winters, but certainly toying with the idea of joining something along these lines. Thanks so much for sharing it all!
September is an amazing time to be here! It’s worth the trip if you can make it out in winter… it’s almost like a whole different park than you get the rest of the year.
Incredible video! I was captivated from the beginning to the end. Your filming and photography skills are amazing, as well as your story telling. Thanks for sharing.
So amazing; I always say that these coaches are my rv dream coach. It could be converted to the coolest RV ever :) Great footage Evan 🙌 Beat video ever!
I’d heard you had a great season and this reflects it. Just imagine, it could have been perfect if you didn’t have to deal with Doug. Bwahaha!!!🤣🤣 Beautiful stuff Evan. (As always).
Just like watching a documentary with great commentary and amazing footage. Thank you!!! Ive said it before and will say it again, you need to be on National Geographic, Animal Planet, or something.
Hi your my favorite TH-camr and I know I said I was going to Yellowstone this summer but my mom changed it to the great Smokey’s which is still amazing but I don’t that much places to see bears or elk do you know any spots 🥺
Thanks, I appreciate that! Cades Cove and Oconaloftee are my favorite places for those 2 species in the Smokies. The NC side of the park has more elk, while the TN side seems to have more bears (or at least I’ve seen more bears there). Good luck and have fun!
Thank you. I would love to have you along, but that is completely understandable. I’ll try to make a video about it, or at least about my time in the park next winter, so those who can’t join in person can at least join virtually!
if you roll down your window, bank on your door while moving forward slowly.. something about the noise and the movement the bison will move out of the way. Ranger tipped me into that
Great video! I’ve been to Yellowstone a few times but definitely not in the winter. Just added it to my bucket list after this video though! Just one question: what software do you use for video editing I’d love to try and make videos like this just for myself and trying to find a good software. Again great video I look forward to the next one!
Cool footage at the end. Looks like a dream job. Question about the 500mm you’re using… are you filling the frame with that thing or are you cropping on the carcass feeding images? Thanks. Keep the content coming.
Thank you! Yes I do, you can find many of my photos for sale here: www.wattswildlifephotography.com/prints And if you don’t see the photo you’re looking for, send me an email at wattswildlifephotography@gmail.com and I can custom order whatever you’d like. Thanks! I don’t have any of the bison ones on the website at the moment, but I’ve been planning on adding the two verticals at some point soon. I will try to do that tonight :)

Hey Evan ! I was wondering what type of clothing / layers you’d have on for the coldest days ? i’m hoping to stay a winter this season and just want to see how to prep ( hoping i get it !! ). its really cool to see you around the park man ! i said what’s up to you when you were stuck in the bear jam haha.
Hey man! Good to see you the other day. Where you working this season? Usually it’s 15-25 on most winter days, but we do get 3-5 -30 or -40 degree days each winter. Lots of layers is key. Long underwear, snow/ski pants, and if you can invest in a really nice winter coat… it will be worth it.
@@wattswildlifephoto working at old faithful this season ! managed to finally get a good shot of a bear just recently. definitely going to be out more in the AM so hopefully i see you then ! thanks for the info
Thank you! Unfortunately I won’t be… I’ll be guiding private tours for Yellowstone Wild out of Gardiner instead. However, we can charter a coach driver or just tour the northern range, if you’re interested in that. www.yellowstonewildtours.com here’s their website if you’d like to know more… thanks!
Outstanding video Evan, it is one of the best Yellowstone videos that I have seen. You are continually getting better and better every video and you narration is excellent. Thanks for sharing and I am looking forward to future videos.

The pine martin, with the snow covered face! Loved how you picked up the tones of his fur. Thanks for another amazing vlog, Evan.
Glad you enjoyed it! That shoot with the pine marten was a dream!!
What an experience! The reality of these pictures are outstanding and it shows life in its truest form! How wonderful!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed!

Masterful video & still photography! Thanks for sharing the epic imagery. What MM lens were you using?
Thank you! I was using a 500mm, with a 1.4x extender some of the time.
Great video! Who do you drive for out of Mammoth? We’ve been on the snowcoach out of West Yellowstone and it was a nice day trip.
Cool footage at the end. Looks like a dream job. Question about the 500mm you’re using… are you filling the frame with that thing or are you cropping on the carcass feeding images? Thanks. Keep the content coming.
Thanks 🙏 all the images of them feeding were shot with a 500+1.4x TC, then cropped slightly.
Amazing video!
