Haha, fair enough! I’ve been painting in the trade for almost 4 years, and I’m FINALLY getting set up to be able to do occasional work at home.

This was awesome. I just got here from your Reddit post. I'm looking at getting into painting myself and have been doing research for months. This was a great introduction and covered a lot. Any chance you know if something like that 20 gallon compressor would work better with a gun like the Eastwood lt100?

Hi John! I can't give you a for-sure answer on whether or not that gun would work with a 20 gallon compressor. While the specs would indicate that it would, I don't personally have any experience running lower volume guns. That being said, I always err on the side of caution, and will generally do my best to buy something slightly bigger than what I'll need, just to be safe. That gun would definitely be happy running off of a "smaller" 60 gallon compressor. By "smaller", I mean with a slightly smaller motor and single stage pump. They are definitely more affordable, and I occasionally see them go on sale brand new for the $700-800 (Canadian) range. By comparison, I actually went out and bought a new 2 stage pump for my unit last night, and it was just over the $900 mark for the pump alone. Thanks for watching, I should have some footage of me actually spraying in the next week or so!

No problem, Dario! I try to share it whenever people come to that sub with diy questions. I understand I go more in depth than most people are willing to do in their garage, but i hope it gives people a good understanding of what goes into these kind of repairs!

What size is the tank on your big compressor? 80 gallons?

60 gallon tank on my big one that I'm rebuilding. 80 would be more ideal, however, and I am always keeping my eyes open for one on facebook marketplace and kijiji.
