I’ve moved to a new home and my internal “don’t be stupid” meter says don’t climb onto this roof (and yes, I thought long and hard before climbing back down). The meter’s alarm never activated at my former home. After watching your vids, I’m guessing I’ve got a 7/12 or better, but I’ll know for sure tomorrow using your techniques. Thanks and too, thank you sir for your service to our country.

Code allows architectural shingles on 3/12 roof? That would never fly here in upstate NY.

Using calculator you can cut all common rafters from the drawing. Just need the span

I think information on how to find the pitch of a roof that's already installed is inconsequential to any learner interested in roofing. You are certainly like a signboard that shows you where you're going but cannot take you there. What calculations give you the rise for the required degrees after getting the run that's half the span?

Go to Google and search pitch conversion to degrees. Next, Google how not to be a passive-aggressive A hole in the comments section. 😂

Ask ChatGPT (free) Give the rise over say 12 inches and ChatGPT will give you the formula and the answer in degrees.
