what if they use the overhook to do a mir-lock or ude-garami? how do you make an underhook safe from a self-defence perspective? I saw a wrestling vid last year of a competition where one of them had an underhook and the otherdude ripped his overhook across his body and uppercutting until the other guy's elbow was pointing up while his hand was pointing down. he got disqualified but it made me scared to go for standing underhooks from a general grappling or self defence perspective
Hello coach, I have a question about my handness and lead leg for underhooks. I am a lefty lead but I am right handed, so would it be better for me to try and get an underhook with my dominant hand or not considering this?
@@mreric5724 I wouldn’t think too much about it. Either one is perfectly fine just do the side you feel comfortable with. I normally go lead hand under hook and look for a lefty single is what I would do in your situation.
Do you recommend to play underhook when your oppoennt is strong on clamping you down? i have alot of problem trying to enter the underhook with high elbow because He just gonna clamp me down like it was nothing

I like to keep my elbow and tricep close to my lat muscle to prevent them from pressuring down with their overhooks

When I get my under hook, I keep my tricep close to my side, which makes it difficult for people to clamp down because I can use my lat muscles
