Notice how at the end of the OP where Makoto throws the MP3 player, he vanishes quickly afterwards while the rest of the main cast is still standing there behind him.
I actually didn't notice that yet it sounds like something I'd pick up on lol, I'm glad you let me know though that's an extremely clever detail by them, thank you
Bruh, you've got the best review of this opening I've seen so far. I like how you go into so much detail about the artistic choices that the people who worked on and made this and tying it back to the original storyline. I've seen some people say that they prefer the original because it's just more unique and drives home the main point of Persona 3 much better. And to some degree, I do agree but it's clear to me that this opening is actually more for the older fans to appreciate because we know the context around it. We understand the emotional weight behind these imagery. The original was much more vague and less personalized to the characters themselves and that's because back then, we didn't know them yet and Atlus was trying to grab your intrigue by fully displaying their concept but still not giving you a clue of what you're looking at.
I'm really happy to hear that, I appreciate it a lot. I give credit to me being a huge Kingdom Hearts fan and the level of detail needed to theorize and analyze for that stuff to get all the good intricacies LOL. And I get some may say they like the original one better, but like I kinda mentioned it's from a different point of reference in creation like you also say. This is made with the idea that many people are aware of what the story is, but also to mask it from the many many newcomers. That's a very fine line to draw to where you can guess very very vaguely if you're new, but if you're a veteran, you are jumping out of your seat lol. The original I feel took a lot of trying to explain or guide you into the themes, motifs, and vibe of the storyline while this takes both sides into account in both composition and visuals
The flower Elizabeth was holding isn't a lotus. It's a higanbana or red spider lily. They're associated with death and fire, so it's thematically relevant and also a neat detail that it shows up right when the lyrics of the op reference "fire in my soul."
11:30 The Fool card represents the start of the journey and new beginnings, with the symbolism here showing The Fool face up on the Moonlight Bridge as the events on the bridge is the main catalyst for Makoto's involvement in the plot of Persona 3 :)
you're 100% right, I didn't pick up on that I was thinking too much of the colors. But that's definitely a signal of, given it's The Fool, that THAT'S where Makoto's journey truly began in his life
Spot on, I'm very confident this is intended to be Aigis's original encounter with Death before the start of the game, when she divided it into the 13 arcana and sealed Pharos/Ryoji within young Makoto
When this game was first announced knowing it was finally ACTUALLY here I had an internal seizure of happiness. Now it hits even more when you know we are so close. Cool opening indeed!
Even though I wanted it so much and am so happy we have it, the ambiguous wait of whether it would actually happen or not was much more grueling than just waiting for it to release now ya know
LOL there was so much to unpack, and I just had to I got the experience with this kinda thing, and I didn't know it was a spider lily that's cool. I said Lotus but was still unsure but went with it, my Avatar The Last Airbender mindset got me thinking of Lotus'
10:30 I’m pretty sure that’s Fuuka lol But I do agree that scene is important, since Fuuka’s realization of being herself and finding real relationships with others is important to the themes of the game.
is that Fuuka? LOL I looked at the legs and feet and was like "those look like legs and stubs to me" but if I look closer tbh it still kinda looks that way but MIGHT be shoes too? But if it is then what you say also works for that lol
I feel like the fool in front of Aigis also signifies that it was also because of her that Makoto had his own Fool journey to begin with. She was the origin to the start of his journey.
Yea that was a big afterthought I had, that and coupled with the fact that they framed that on the Moonlight Bridge, where the story of Makoto's journey really started and by association, hers.
#Moonlight You did a great job analyzing this trailer. I really enjoyed how you were able to pick up on the subtle details and look beyond surface. This opening is so well made.
I gotta say this is one of THE, if not The best opening movie of the Persona franchise!! The flow is just sooo fcking good and the details of each characters and callbacks, god dammnn!!
The details, the pace, the song, the love, the colors and stylistic choices. It's actually phenomenal, and somehow I still haven't watched it again since I finished making this video LOL
The full song is called "full moon, full life" and you can hear how much dna from burn my dread is in this song, i believe this is better though, sorry but i love how energetic it is while also keeping the original tone at points
Thank you for telling me, and nah I get you. I do like this song more than the Opening Version of Burn my Dread, I've always been a way bigger fan of 'Burn My Dread - Last Battle' WAY more. The voice mixed with the beats make it feels so bouncy and relaxed yet focused and immersive, I love it
I am still curious in who is the girl who turns into into the red coffin early in the OP. Not to mention who are bloody sneared couple who are whispering to eachother. Though looking closer the "red coffin girl" looks like a lot like Femc or Kotone from P3 Portable & PQ2.
the bloody couple I'm not sure, and even less sure on the girl but it could just be nobody for her. It's mainly hard to say because they aren't that recognizable from just that silhouette
@@EdgardoJCruz-dk5kv it's all good lol, yea I've seen people say it could be Kotone but I disagree mainly cause the hair is too different and given what this is it wouldnt really make much since to have her in it at all tbh. Even if just for an easter egg it doesnt look like her, especially so given how its the normal girl's uniform for Gekkoukan
Same, it for sure gets far too much hate. They can hate the gameplay tho I'm fine with that, but the story and character writing, I get the frustrations but it's all hard for them. This is a whole new level of a trial of growth for them. It was never gonna be an easy thing to overcome.

You’re right. Stuff like the Junpei scene and the train scene really show that it’s teasing the older fans. It’s still a great opening regardless

The new op song name is Full Moon Full Life.
Gotcha, thank you, I'm surprised the Atlus Video didn't say it lol

This song is actually a mix between Burn My Dread and Want To Be Close :)
Is it? Now I HAVE to listen to it more
11:54 I think this more so teases her being responsible for the protag having the wild card rather than teasing the answer.
Yea I think someone said something similar, that it putting The Fool there can signify that that's the place that really began Makoto's journey

#Moonlight Fantastic breakdown. Still can't believe this game is real and coming out in a month
Thank you thank you, and yea it felt so far just last month but with it being now NEXT month, it's so close. Can't wait

The backshot???? Lmao
Fuuka gettin backshots lol
AYOOOOOOO
*Sees Sabo*
THE ONE PIECE IS REEEAAAAAL! Can we get much higher than this?
Meh could've used more symbolism like straight up telling you that you will die at the end like in the original .Momento Mori and all.
I can see that, a mention of memento mori would've been classic
fuuka taking backshots?????
AYOOOOO LOL
I still prefer the OG P5 opening, but this is really good too, can't wait
Did you mean P3?
yo better meant p3 bro
The OG P5 opening was definitely something different I'll give it that, not too connected to it but I respect it
