    After three months, the build is finally done. The Re.2000GA from Special Hobby I was so excited to do, is complete. Despite the problems I had to face the end result turned out okay.

    The camo paintjob is rather superfluous with that bright red cowl and white fuselage stripe. Good job overall.

      Thank you!
      This was one of the paint schemes and I did like it. Could've went with one having a yellow cowling, but that was too much even for me.
      It's nice to have some details to pop out besides the usual greens, browns, light greys and blues.
      The white stripe is pretty much an identification marking on Italian fighters as far as I know. Haven't seen one without it yet.

    Special Hobby kits are definitely for patient adults but worth the effort.

    Nice result. I’ve made this airplane from the 1/48 Airplast/SMER kit. With that building experience I think this Special Hobby kit will be a walk in the park 😜 Nice channel, subbed ✨👍✨

      @rogueplastic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Consider yourself counter-subbed. :-D
      Yeah, it's not the worst kit in the world, but it could be better.

    What a great looking build!

    Nice job, the plane looks great! I would suggest only one thing. In nature dirt and especially exhaust stains are not 100% black. It’s rather a mix of colours and shades. The camouflage could also use some colour shading to look more weathered. But that’s a matter of taste and personal preferences. Nevertheless great job. I love Italian aircraft 😁

      Thank you!
      Yeah, given that the camo consists of 4 layers of paint, I didn't wanted to go down the rabbit hole of post shading and mottling effect on it.
      Perhaps next time I try some oil paint shenanigans on it as post shading.

    interesting that this plane is a cousin to the republic p47 thunderbolt. it was a close copy of the sikorski p35, which was developed over several generations into the p47. the lineage shows most clearly in the wings and tail surfaces.

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. Too bad it couldn't develop in to the Italian version of the P-47. Although the Re.2001 and 2005 are quite good as well.
      It actually would make a nice what-if concept, having the Re.2000 in USAF scheme and the P-35 Regia Aeronautica fashion.

    also, very nice work on the model, especially considering the problems with the kit. a definite winner!

    I really like the camouflage scheme and how you stuck with the kit even though it was difficult. Excellent build :)

    I agree with you, there are difficult kits, many work under the paint job… I think you have done a very good job in a very complicated camo scheme

    A flying model without a pilot is an interesting concept, to say the least. 🤔

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Believe me, it bothers me greatly. All my other planes have pilots.
      I looked all over the internet and there were no pilot figures I could use.
      I try to look at it in a different way.
      Wonder Woman had invisible plane in the cartoons and comics. This plane has the invisible pilot.

    Beautiful build and finish. I really like the display base you used. And btw, those “tappets” are push rod tubes for the intake and exhaust valves.

      Thank you for the kind words.
      Push rods! I knew the word "rod" was in there somewhere. My knowledge on combustion engines does need some expansion.

    Really cool subject. Excellent work. I may have to get myself one of these kits.

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends how much you like a challenge.
      This is definitely not a beginner kit and has quite a few problems.
      But, looking at your videos... I think you will manage.

    • @scaleffect
      @scaleffect ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rogueplastic yes it looks challenging, but my models will not be worthy of consideration for any awards for decades to come. For now, fun is first, and I find less popular subjects quite fun :)

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree 100%, fun is the most important thing and also, Italian planes are beautiful. :-D

    Good video, wow, this kit is very overpriced in Japan, & then you have to modify & correct the landing gear... whoaw, lots of extra work, cool subject, I've made the Italeri version.

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably there is a lot of tax on it, that's why it's more expensive in Japan.
      It's just a shame that a lot of good brands don't really care about Italian aircrafts.

    Very nice work on a really beautiful Italian aircraft. On my channel, I have a series of videos of constructions of this type from the Smér kit, which was originally published more than fifty years ago by the Airplast company. I wish you a lot of modeling success. Best regards, Aleš

    I just finished a model from Special Hobby and I've got to tell you that they kinda suck! The detail was good but the fit was horrible!!!!! and the lack of locator pins was painful and the ones that it did have didn't line up. Also, you never mentioned the scraper that you used?

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the fit issues and some engineering mistakes were quite annoying.
      At least we have someone covering topics the big brands aren't willing to cover.

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Did I forgot to mention the scraper? Sorry about that.
      Probably that section got lost in edit.
      That's from Revell. One of the things I would actually recommend from them.
      Just search for Revell Precision Scraper.

    • @rogueplastic

      Yes, it not the best quality. I am hoping it's not a common theme with Special Hobby.

      I bought the series 1 kit. Good info! Yes this is a recurring problem with these short run kits. Will put up with this for the rarer subjects. By the way MRP has a full range of Italian mimetico paints. KUTGW
