- I finished building the 3D printed Crank Organ.
It works!
I designed and 3D printed each of the pipes, as well as the tracker bar, the drive sheaves and the crank. I also 3D printed the gold decorative flourishes on the facade. The cabinet is wooden.
This is a 20 note organ which uses a standard tracker bar hole layout, so it can play readily available street organ rolls.
In this video, it is playing “Ballad of Davy Crocket”, a song on roll JSR-025 made by Pipes of Pan. All of the Pipes of Pan rolls sound great.
It took many iterations of pipe designs to create the sound I was looking for. I printed over 15 different pipe designs and trashed all of them, before finally deciding on these.
This Crank Organ is a great addition to the music room. The grandkids love cranking it and making music. I do, too. Plus it’s aerobic - cranking through an entire roll of 5 songs is a nice workout for your right arm!
Well done! It is so satisfying to have an idea in your head to build something and then make it turn out well. Congratulations.
WOW!
Hi @violanomidi2215 I was wondering if you could give us some more details? also if you could please supply STL files that would be awsome. Amazing work!!!
