    In my opinion, Genesis has to improve the dealership experience alá Lexus, the only very successful Luxury Car brand launched here in the US in my lifetime.

    Thank you for the review. I currently own a 2013 Genesis sedan and I absolutely love it. Just turned 100 K miles and the car has not one time broken down. My friends with BMW’s, S classes, and other luxury cars are not as lucky. There are faster cars, but in my mind never breaking in 100 K miles is the true benefit of these cars. I am actually considering purchasing a new model. Have never bought the same model twice in my life. My daughter wants my current car.

    I currently own a 2017 G90 Ultimate AWD and I'm nearing it's 4th anniversary in September. I am at 77,000 miles and have only had to change the tires regular service which was free for the first 36K. I do a lot of highway miles which may explain why I haven't had to replace my brake pads. I bought this after purchasing a 2015 Genesis 3.8 Ultimate AWD also known as the G80 and I love that car. There is a big difference in the handling between the two cars handling wise. The G80 is more nimble as the G90 is a cruiser. I don't expect to get a new G90 as the power plant has not really changed and only the exterior seems to have change. I guess I am waiting to see if the new G80 will come in a "Sport" model because I really enjoyed the nimbleness of the 3.8. By the way, Being a fat bastard the seats in these cars did not flinch from carrying my 6'3" 375 lbs. I've been known to challenge the lives of BMW and Mercedes seats over the years.lol

    That white interior looks fabulous but it probably won’t age well. As previous posts have said, this car will be a true value buy on the used market especially with the warranty and build quality of the mechanicals.

    I drove a G80 (incidentally the 5.0 Ultimate), and the steering in that car was great. It had some weight, without being too much. The V8 was wonderful as well. I guess some things have to happen when you add weight to a car.
    Great video as always!

    The car doesn’t have pano roof probably since the largest market for Genesis, Asia, is one which people who can afford to sit in the back hate being exposed to sun except when playing golf. All other times it’s a no no. Skin cancer fears.

    Hey MotoMan how's everything, long time fan of the show here, I definitely love the updated look of the G90 and really believe that genesis should try a stronger twin turbo v6 or even a turbo v8. It doesn't have to be a N ( M, RS and ANY competitor) but I feel that in order to challenge Lexus there has to be some more grunt under the hood.

    Good point about the engine choices (low end torque vs total horsepower). But I don't know if I want a harsh driving sports luxury car. The point of a car like this to be comfortable and in control.

    Really exquisite, much more elegant than it's German rivals, and only bested by the sumptuous Lexus LS in my mind.

    That steering is exactly what it should be in that car, nobody buys a luxury yacht to go corner carving. You’re dead right about the TT V6 but again it’s luxury yacht which is all about quiet so I’d pick the V8

  • @IceDree

    This is the kind of Interior the CT6 should've had, not that bleak sea of plastics & black "leather seating surfaces". Kudos to the Genesis time.
    M, what do think of the materials used inside? Iirc the leather is genuine German leather, but what about the metals & the woods? Genuine or faux? Everytime I go to check it out, its either locked or they don't have one on the showroom floor.
    The updated model grew on me a lot ever since I first saw it in person. I love the wheels too. The grille is not ideal, but I reckon long plates would make it less in your face.
    Oh by the way, they have an even longer version of the G90, think E38 L7 on steroids.
    As always, excellent work, M.

    I'm kinda offended as a Korean decent person that MotoMan tends to emphasize credit Germans on pretty much every episode that features Korean cars.
    Yes, i get it Hyundai/Kia/Genesis needed some boost to thrive in this very competitive industry, but I notice this guy likes to imply German influences every chance he gets and not much of credits to Hyundai/Kia/Genesis.

    • @Fluterra
      @Fluterra 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cliff Wilkins Haha. If sheep can discern quality and engineering over lipstick on a pig, sure, I’m a sheep! Every Hyundai I’ve seen, including the G80, screams of cheapness - it’s made to look nice, sure, but when you look at the detail, you realize it’s nowhere near Mercedes.

    • @jamesw1659
      @jamesw1659 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fluterra yeah, but isn’t it funny how these are so much more reliable than those “high quality” German cars? And the panel fits on my older Genesis are visibly tighter than any model with the three-pointed star on it. Oh, and the leather is better, too.

    • @Fluterra
      @Fluterra 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James W Hi, respectfully disagree. My neighbor has one and the leather is nowhere near the quality of my Mercedes, or his Porsche. Hyundai is Less reliable, not More. I consistently see new model (under 5 years old) with burned out tail lamps!). I’ve owned 5 Mercedes over the past 6 years with no issues.

    • @Fluterra
      @Fluterra 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You lot are funny. I’m all for a Hyundai that costs $20K. I get it. But when they are within spitting distance of a real S Class, no way. You lot are the suckers. Lipstick on an economy car does not make an S Class rival. It’s not about comparing standard features and dimensions. Not everyone understands- that’s fine. You also probably have Android phones.

    I was wondering when will you have this car on a test if ever, and I am glad you did. I must say - I would love to see these things on the road here in Europe. It has such luxury and presence, also at ridiculous prices, plus it would be really special and exotic - everybody can see 7s, Ss and A8s here - but not this. And I love the fact that they went sort of Bentlyesque way of tuning the car for pure sumptuous feel and comfort. We became way too obsessed with wanting the cars to be jacks of all trades and masters of none. You want sporty drive - get a real sports car. I always laugh at my father when he brags how fast he went through the twisty road with his 7 series with M package... It is still a far cry from any sports car - kind of ridiculous having a 4000 pounds car and wanting it to drive like 911. OH and last but not least - Genesis is No.1 in J.D. powers car quality chart as a brand so as someone from BMW oriented family - I would really welcome a competing brand without quality the issues European premium brands have.
