    Very important bit near the very end; rotating the exhaust cam to fit the sprocket. As long as the chain lines up, the sprocket has a notch in it so it can only bolt to the cam one way. Don’t be afraid to rotate the cam as long as you have your chain marks line up with the sprocket marks.

    How do you insure the chain doesn't skip a tooth on the crank while working on the top end? I can see how you inspect once chain is installed back on the cams via timing marks. Just when I do this, I don't want my chain to move on the crank. If that happens, well, timing cover removal.

      I have a pin on the tensioner holding it from coming out and applying tension on the chain. Then I from the exhaust cam gear and slide the chain off/on with the gear while turning the cam with a 24mm wrench slowly to align the pin into the gear.

      Since tou are changibg tge chain after years or more 150k may be. Dosn't it a good idea to change that parts, chain abd tensioner and also good quality ones. Expecting the chain strecth when gears are worn out like motor bike gears/sprockat ^ chain. That could be the last change for another sum of good miles ahead, engine life extending another 200k miles or more.

    • @BCautosutions

      No, that year doesn’t have vtc gear failures typically. You wouldn’t change it regardless of mileagess unless if it’s faulty.

    What about the timing

    • @Darkshadow512
      @Darkshadow512 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cam has a notch in it and can only be bolted on a specific way, match the mark on the cam with the gold marks on the chain. If you’re a tooth off, pull the gear and move a tooth over.

    • @BCautosutions
      @BCautosutions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      have to look for the timing marks and match them to the gold links on the chain. the camshafts will both line up with the links if timed correctly.
