Cancun vs. Cozumel vs. Playa del Carmen | MOVING TO MEXICO, Comparing PLACES TO LIVE in QUINTANA ROO

  • When I moved to Mexico, I wanted to spend time visiting, traveling, and living in Cancun, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen so I could get a feel for what it's like living in Mexico as an American after moving here without knowing where I would end up. So, this video will focus on what it's like to live or retire in Cancun vs Playa del Carmen vs Cozumel. After traveling to Cancun, I found it to be the most tourist of these three places. It's also the least expensive place of the three to live in Quintana Roo of Mexico. Playa del Carmen is touristy, but more aimed towards digital nomads as opposed to the heavy resort influence in Cancun. I personally like living on Cozumel the best. It's an island, it's more relaxed, and though the cost of living on Cozumel is higher than Cancun or Playa del Carmen, I think its benefits outweigh the slightly higher costs. Whether you want to live in Mexico for just a few years or retire in Mexico in one of the best places to live in Mexico, you can find something for you in either Cancun, Playa del Carmen, or Cozumel at a good price. Of course, the cost of living in Mexico isn't the only reason Americans want to move there or retire in Mexico, we like to live in Mexico for all kinds of reasons, and we'll discuss more of them in this video.

    Thise low prices are going to be for old tiny studios way outside town, in more dangerous areas, and during the low season.
    Double those prices and you can find a small place in a better area.

    I lived in Cozumel for a month in January 2021. The airport is international and American Airlines offers direct flights to the US. I can't speak for other airlines, but I flew from Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) directly to Cozumel with no problems, coming or going.

    • @NickDemski
      @NickDemski  ปีที่แล้ว

      yes there are some int'l flights but it's not a hub. you'd have to live in one of the few major cities it flies to. Cancun's airport can be reached from all over because it's a hub, which was my point.

    Nice video! it's funny cause I just moved to Cozumel to help me decide where to buy my house outta these 3 cities. I am thinking playa but need to make sure they have fiber optic internet available. Here in cozumel I have only broadband which is not that good for my current job.

    • @NickDemski
      @NickDemski  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's one of those things that's a pain, but once it's done, it's done. You can actually get an agent here in Mexico that will handle all that stuff for you and make it super easy, though. And it's not too expensive to use those services, I'd just recommend shopping around for quotes, though. Join local Facebook groups for wherever you're going and you'll find someone that the local ex-pats will recommend to you that they've used already.

    I really don't understand the prices you are describing... I have been to Cancun numerous times and 5$ taxi I have never seen. Tried to haggle best I got was 15$ but we were 4 people so I don't know if it's 5$ per people or what...normally they 25$ and we don't do the whole blvd...
    Also rent... I know there are some at those prices but it has to be run down... Realistically I see prices more in the 800-2500$ a month depending on location and ameneties.
