I bought a K6 12" sub and a power akoustic amp that the budget channel reviewed and it's been an incredibly loud set up. I love it. Completely massages my body when I crank it lmao
I can't believe how good this channel is. I am in my late 40's and i love seeing all the classic equipment. Your channel is very entertaining. Thanks for the content!
I’m a disabled combat veteran and a stay at home dad of a 2 year old who loves to ride around and listen to hip hop/rap. Currently we only have 2 Sony 6.5 3 ways in the front doors and 2 Sony 6x9s in a box that I built that’s in the extended area of my Frontiers cab. No amp just running off the head unit but I’m saving money to try to get us at least one 12” sub and an amp that’ll sufficiently power it. Love the videos bro.
Steve Miller nice man. I actually found a blown Memphis Audio Power Reference 10” in the trash at a car wash a couple days ago. I’m gonna get the stuff to rebuild it so that should be pretty cheap.
@Aziryse really, you we have alot more important things to shield our children from. The news and product commercials are worse than rap. And all that kid knows is it has a cool beat.
@@erictheboringone5292 im sure you have but ignore that smug pos azirgse. Props for being a stay at home dad and having fun with your son while doing it
I like that you are wearing a HiFi Vega shirt, showing the love. Thanks for the video, very informative. With your sacrifice we all gained a more realistic RMS rating for long bass sessions on these K9's.
Some good timing there. Just finished watching the exo video and this one popped up, glad I didnt pull the trigger on one of these last week. Especially now that the price went up 30 bucks on Amazon.
thanks for being the only truth teller out there who doesn't sugar coat any brand of amps. and awesome job adding my boy EXO!! that guy is a nut!! love his build videos. keep up the great work and telling us the truth about these amps.
I personally like Rockville's equipment, and I must say I'm impressed. I have a db55 in my car for some time now, rated at 2000watts rms 4000peek watts running four kenwood coaxial 150watts rims 300watts peek and a 12" Alpine sub 500 watts rms 1500watts peek. Works fine for me puts out some serious power and I'm actually thinking about getting 12 or 15 Rockville sub in the future. I enjoy watching your content btw, keep the videos coming!
thanks since i got into audio your channel has helped me immensly. I got my 5 channel based on your tests. The pioneer gm 9705. puts out 600 at 2 ohms 350 at 4, which is enuf for any subs I need in my small car. Thanks for the chance on the sub too. Hard to have a hobby on a lower budget.
I've honestly have never had any issues with the rockville line up. Ive maxed em and beat em up hard.. And still kicking.. Idk how I always miss these giveaways.. I watch the vids as soon as they come up...or I have time .. Absolutely love this channel Dereck!... Yeaaaa boooiiii!!!
I think its safe to assume if you bought a budget sub, cut the rms in half and run it like that. Its all marketing and has been marketing since the word go. Unless your willing to drop a metric ton of cash on high end stuff, under power your gear and live with a little less bumps for longer.
I recently discovered your channel and I have to say it has become one of my new favorites. I love the fact that you test real world cheap stuff instead of the boutique high-end brands that only the wealthy and competition guys would care about. When I was growing up it would have cost at least 2 grand to get the performance out of a sound system that you could spend less than 500 for today. Generally speaking we are living in the Golden Age of car audio in performance vs cost if you can overlook the stigma of going cheap. I doubt the average listener is going to discertain the performance in 8/10s listening levels. It's the extra 2/10s where I think the high end brands have their place. Not only that, when you go cheaper, it hurts that much less when someone breaks in your ride and steals everything! Keep up the great content and disturbing the peace!
I want to see the same test done to subs from Skar or American Bass with no break in period and see what happens. The equivalent of their subs to the Rockville. I'm all about uncovering imposters in the car audio game and stand by the saying, "just put what it really does on the box and don't inflate the ratings". I'm old school and do the same thing as you Big D and one time a few years ago I bought two Boss Phantoms 10's for the heck of it to see what they do. Well I hate to say this but tell me why those $50 dollar subs lasted longer than some other subs I've owned! I say that to everyone to not hate on every single product because of a name. Don't get caught up in the business foolery. Yes there is crap out there but there is also good out there that doesn't break your wallet. I'm glad we have Big D, Budget Gem, and Meade to do dyno's for us!
I got the 25 dollar blaupunkt shown on this channel a few weeks ago and I can say it has been doing great for me. I am only pushing 500 RMS through it but the sound quality is fantastic.
Interesting vid as usual! It's actually kind of amazing what you can get for "lo-dough" now days vs 30 years ago. These look like they beat the snot out of the radio shack 15's I had in my car back in the day, and with the prices adjusted for inflation, these are even cheaper!
I think I know what they did. Anyone that would be buying and running these would have no concept of impedance rise. So they are saying 1000 watts rms so the every day consumer that knows 0 about the technical side of audio will buy a 1000 watts rms amp. Which as we all know will get you maybe 600-700 watts peak after impedance rise which would probably put this sub around where it is actually rated 500-600 rms.
I know someone who blew his and ordered new coils and spiders and such from lord of bass and just used the motors and baskets from the k9s and they actually sound good and take the 1000rms now daily
The sound of that 12” poppin was gnarly bro.. best video yet.. woofer vids are more exciting than seein dyno numbers for sure.. love your channel none the less.. keep up the great work homie
Guess What? I bought one of the 2 ohm models after this video. and ran it @ 700 watts @ 4ohms for months..... no issue.... so i bought another one for 93 bucks that was refurbed from Audio Savings last week. which is one of Rockville's sister companies. I run the Bassrockers 2000watt RMS model 2000.1D amp which is in it's self a budget GEM @ 175 dollars for true rated power. I ran them with the subsonic set properly, 80hz crossover both of them wired down for a 2ohm load on the amp. so both subs seeing about 650 to 700watts RMS EACH! have had them in the car for 3 days, and I run them High for about 1 1/2 hrs everyday (back and forth to work) i check coil and amp tempts after every run... no heat.. no smoke... amp and sub dust caps cool to the touch. but as soon as i clipped them on purpose, you could smell them heat up a bit, they just don't have a huge margin for error ( i blame the CCAW voice coils). All rockville has to do is rate these 700-900 watts RMS and they would be fine, you could never touch 2000 watts on these things except maybe for a burp, and i'm leary of 1000 but will be trying it after the second sub finishes it's break in. once it's broken in like my first one, i'll run it down to 1ohm load on the amp and give it the 1000 watts per sub smack and see where it gets me!
@@wal Big D, you're the reason I got the Bass bug again. all the old school amps brought me back to the old days when i was a kid and everyone in the hood had crazy setups. Keep it up! Hoping to win one of your giveaways one of these days lol.
I've actually been looking at get one of these for my wife's car cuz she just likes to have a little bit of extra bass you know not much I appreciate your reviews that's awesome of you want to buy one directly brand-new that's you're an awesome and appreciate everything you do
I feel like its only the k9 subs. I see the k6 subs doing well. The k6 has a 5 star rating on Amazon with everyone saying great things. I haven't seen any videos of a k6 smoking
@@multigamer6394 cool man, good to hear that. I purchased 2 k6 subs despite everything I heard. I purchased a rockville rxd-t2 amp to push them. Big D wizz dyno it at 1050 rms @ 4 ohms. It should push them well.
So I've owned a pair of rockville k6 d2. I sold them 1 month later. They didn't smoke, but they did sound and smell like shit. They were in a Q power horn vented box. 4 cubic feet tuned to 32hz. Rockville rxd-t2 amp. Amp dyno at 1030 watts rms. I have 1 rockford p3d2 12" that destroys the 2 rockville k6 subs. P3d2 is in a Q power vented box. 1.79 cubic feet tuned to 42 or 45hz. Pioneer 8601 dyno at 800 watts rms. Just get 1 rockford p3 and dont look back. TRUST ME
Stick to "CEA" rating on the K6 and you should be fine. I've had a W10K6D4 on 450Wrms@2ohms for nearly a year now and it's banging right along. I knew damn well when I bought it that I wasn't getting a 1000W sub for under 70 bucks.
I used to be die hard MTX all the way but after experimenting with multiple budget brands I think Rockville may just be my go to. Just keep em at half RMS and don't clip em.
@@martinez1701a I've had a little over a dozen different 8's. Currently I have a pair of K9 8's in a cheap labyrinth box and they do well enough for me. I liked the Soundstream Reference 8's too, a step behind the K9 for same price range tho. Best bang for buck woofer I've found.
Tell me about it!! The average person buying them don’t even listen to them that hard all the time! I love the testing though! Maybe they will stop putting 4000 watt stickers on 600 watt subs all day!
I don't have hands/ears on experience with the K9s, but I do with K6s. The K6s have been solid. What I see as the problem with the K9s is just a marketing issue... It is a $100 woofer being pitched like it is a $300+ woofer...which will only lead to dissatisfaction to those expecting it to perform like a $300 woofer. For $100 though, it would be top of the heap.
Thanks for showing me a brand to stay away from. A budget sub that I wouldn't mind see get tested that is quite popular. Is the Power Acoustik Mofos. Are they as good as the hype?
you talk to the majority of rockville buyers and they swear their subs have never blown. then you go on a car audio forum and everyone that has never used rockville will swear rockville blow.
I've had my k9 12s for almost 2 years on 3600 watts rms 1 ohm impedance no issues they sound great! Also depends on your style box I have a customized box at 20hz made out of granite slams!
Hooked up a friend's system. Running his 12d4 on JL AUDIO RD500. He only got this sub for something to listen to until he can afford a 12w6. It's still going and he's very happy with it.
I was watching this again and I noticed if I see correctly Rockville has there spider(s) glued to a bolt on ring... That's pretty cool. I'm actually surprised that that isn't used more along with a bolt down surround land. If the tinsels were removable to you could compleatly disassemble and reassemble you entire driver for inspection and repair... If company did this and sold recone kits with the ring already glued a person could compleatly rebuild a sub with nothing but an Allen wrench..... Plus be great for people like me that loooove to take stuff apart to fittle n see what makes it chooch...
First thank you for all you do,we've all learned somthing new in one way or another fom your love of bass and audio. Plus reminding us to just have fun, all while beiing a good teacher. I really mean that , and hope the videos never stop. Thanks Again
Turn that sub around where the magnet is outside of the box so it can breathe!! You'd probably be surprised at how many top name subs you would smoke with that test!!! The Lanzar Max Pro and Hifonics Brutus subs caught my eye for bang on a budget woofers
I would love to see every sub on the market tested like this. Awesome video man keep doing good work and keeping the public informed with real world tests. Also helps to keep these companies in check. Subscribed

This was very interesting , and the way you explain everything , showing us stuff which we are sometimes afraid to try , is really nice. Thanks for all your efford to make this videos.
what they did is get a generic 300w coil and slapped it in and rated it at 4000w pmpo rating on it and said lets rate it at 1200 or somet and make an excuse so people still buy our proucts, like if they were to rate is at 300-600w then everyone would buy them and they would make business

It's just absoulety nuts how the technology has changed! Years ago I did a 143 in a mustang hatchback with two Phoenix gold Xmas 15s, powered by a 250m2, well over 1700 bucks in 1999,
Yeah that sub isn't handling that much power. Look at the ohm load go up the coil is creating more resistance the hotter it gets. You were almost blowing it with that 1000 watt test judging by the resistance. I don't think it would have made it another minute. Looks like a 500/600 watt amp is about all you want to give them daily driving. That's not bad honestly. I don't think the low end Skars would put up a much better fight.

Williston Audio Labs u need to review the boss pf series, 4 channel amps ... haven’t seen anyone do a review on TH-cam
I bought a K6 12" sub and a power akoustic amp that the budget channel reviewed and it's been an incredibly loud set up. I love it. Completely massages my body when I crank it lmao
That’s what matters!!
I can't believe how good this channel is. I am in my late 40's and i love seeing all the classic equipment. Your channel is very entertaining. Thanks for the content!
Thanks brother 👌
I’m a disabled combat veteran and a stay at home dad of a 2 year old who loves to ride around and listen to hip hop/rap. Currently we only have 2 Sony 6.5 3 ways in the front doors and 2 Sony 6x9s in a box that I built that’s in the extended area of my Frontiers cab. No amp just running off the head unit but I’m saving money to try to get us at least one 12” sub and an amp that’ll sufficiently power it. Love the videos bro.
I got an NVX 10IN, 400w amp & box for like $250. Still slams after 2 years
Steve Miller nice man.

Price went up? I didn’t notice that 🤔

my rockville 10 inch sub does real well with 600 watts they just need to rate them right .

I have 2 of the punisher series in a ported qbomb box and it slams sumthin seriously.very happy would recommend these all day ...
thanks since i got into audio your channel has helped me immensly. I got my 5 channel based on your tests. The pioneer gm 9705. puts out 600 at 2 ohms 350 at 4, which is enuf for any subs I need in my small car. Thanks for the chance on the sub too. Hard to have a hobby on a lower budget.

Can u test the walmart gothic speakers I’m interested to see results 2,500 watts 🤔😏
The more inflated the ratings, the more budget bs the brand. MF's might as well just say infinite peak watts or 777777w peak.
They take like 850 1050 bamf will take 1200
Always watch your vids so i know what to buy....watching all the way from the caribbean...love your vids👍👍
I think its safe to assume if you bought a budget sub, cut the rms in half and run it like that. Its all marketing and has been marketing since the word go. Unless your willing to drop a metric ton of cash on high end stuff, under power your gear and live with a little less bumps for longer.
Yep 👍
Thanks for this insightful comment. I’d agree we are lucky to have access to such inexpensive products today! Thanks as well for the kind words!! 👌😬👍
Do you have a purchase link for this sub ?
Thanks for the feedback 👌
Let's see you do some cheap skaraudio subs
This is exactly what EXO and I discussed today and agree
You've helped so many of us on our purchases and system configurations. Just want to say THANK YOU BIG D!!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I know someone who blew his and ordered new coils and spiders and such from lord of bass and just used the motors and baskets from the k9s and they actually sound good and take the 1000rms now daily
The K9 got beat up but it’s actually a great sub if you don’t overpower it
I love this channel so much.... Derek seems like such a down-to-earth guy. He's just a good honest straightforward cool dude.... Props my brother.

The sound of that 12” poppin was gnarly bro.. best video yet.. woofer vids are more exciting than seein dyno numbers for sure.. love your channel none the less.. keep up the great work homie
I appreciate the feedback!
Great feedback 👌
@@wal Big D, you're the reason I got the Bass bug again. all the old school amps brought me back to the old days when i was a kid and everyone in the hood had crazy setups. Keep it up! Hoping to win one of your giveaways one of these days lol.

I feel like its only the k9 subs. I see the k6 subs doing well. The k6 has a 5 star rating on Amazon with everyone saying great things. I haven't seen any videos of a k6 smoking
The k6 is so much better I have one and it actually takes near 600 rms with no issues
Awaome video as always. Big D
So if the glue and coil has been improved wonder why they still can't handle the power?? I seriously doubt rockville knows why.
Most likely cheap glue and/or too small of cooling hole on the coil former.
No More BS Please. I never thought of the former holes being to small. The glue does seem better.
Thanks for the video Big D! Cool to see you colaborating with EXO!
He’s good people!!
I used to be die hard MTX all the way but after experimenting with multiple budget brands I think Rockville may just be my go to. Just keep em at half RMS and don't clip em.
Im debating trying out the rockville K9 6.5 subwoofer, got a pair of skar evl65 and am impressed now I wanna try other 6.5 subs.

The crazy thing is these subs likely aren't even broken in. Imagine when they are , they'll he able to handle more power and play it more efficiently
YES SIR!!! Still doing your thing, keeping US updated & saving US a lot of TIME & MONEY
Honestly if you're not purposely clipping the hell out of them they run fine.
I really dig that you are doing spl testing. Look forward to seeing more.
I know somebody hittin da 150’s for real 😳
you talk to the majority of rockville buyers and they swear their subs have never blown. then you go on a car audio forum and everyone that has never used rockville will swear rockville blow.

Rockville looks nice but that's about it...
This was very interesting , and the way you explain everything , showing us stuff which we are sometimes afraid to try , is really nice. Thanks for all your efford to make this videos.
what they did is get a generic 300w coil and slapped it in and rated it at 4000w pmpo rating on it and said lets rate it at 1200 or somet and make an excuse so people still buy our proucts, like if they were to rate is at 300-600w then everyone would buy them and they would make business
yeah but still took 1000w untill it died so maybe dont drop 1kw to ur 90$ sub
A 3" coil with decent venting should easily handle more than 300w. (which it did)

Skarbage sucks
All sub resistance goes up and down as they flex. If you hook up a meter and just push the cone down by hand the ohms change.
