This magnificent 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RS is a great example with an impressive pedigree. It has been certified as authentic by Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance. Roger Schone the last owner purchased the car from the previous owner of 44 years and spent the last 4 years restoring the car to factory specifications. This is the first time it’s been offered since completion of the restoration. A binder of receipts and photos of the restoration are included. Jerry MacNeish stated in his report, “this Z28 will make an excellent entry into the “Legends Certification” class at the Camaro Nationals.” As the NCRS Shipping Data Report documents the GM production date of this car was April 27th, 1968. The car was ordered with the a Rally Green with white stripes exterior, Ivory Houndstooth Deluxe interior and the following options (A01)- tinted glass, (D80)- air spoiler equipment, (G80)- positract rear axle, 4.10 ratio, (J52)- power disc brakes, (M21)- 4-speed transmission, (U63)- AM radio, (N40)- power steering, (Z22) -rally sport equipment, (Z28)- special engine and equipment and (Z87)-deluxe interior. From the information gathered less than 20% of the Z28 production was equipped with the RS package in model year 1968. From the information gathered a limited amount of those were painted Rally Green and a very limited amount had Ivory Houndstooth Deluxe interior. This car retains its original Chevrolet Owner’s Protection Plan documents better known as the “Protect-O-Plate” which provides important information about the vehicle including the build date and options which is a rare find with this model year Camaro. As documented this car was sold new by Shellabarger Chevrolet located in Casper, WY. It was purchased by Robert Anderson who lived in Casper, WY on May 11
th, 1968. Robert sold the car to Phyllis Anderson who also lived in Casper, WY in early 1970’s. Phyllis purchased the car for her son Mike Wergin and during her time of ownership she had a replacement “Protect-O- Plate” issued for warranty purposes. Mike Wergin took legal ownership on July 6th, 1973. The NCRS Shipping document, original “Protect-O-Plate”, replacement “Protect-O-Plate” and copy of title showing the transfer from Phyllis Anderson to Mike Wergin are included. The car spent the next 44 years with Mike Wergin until it was purchased by Roger Schone in December of 2017. The car was in very good condition at the time of purchase which is documented with photos that are included. The car was restored to high show quality standards. The body retains most of its original sheet metal and is extremely straight. It was re-finished in its original Rally Green with white stripes and paintwork is simply exceptional. All of the glass was replaced new and stamped with date codes from the original glass date stamps. The car sits on its original DF coded 15x6 Rally wheels. The wheels are wrapped with the correct Goodyear Wide Tread GT E70-15 bias ply tires. The fresh interior complements the exterior perfectly. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct and date coded parts. The car is powered by the original matching numbers 302 V8 that was completely rebuilt by CNC Motorsports and runs excellent. The engine is fed through the original intake which was restored by Jerry MacNeish and original Holley carburetor. It’s also equipped with its original starter, distributor, alternator, voltage regulator and radiator. The engine breathes through the factory manifolds and concours Gardner dual exhaust system. The engine is coupled to a correct Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission and 12-bolt POSI rear end with 4.10 gears. The undercarriage is mirror quality with original floors that were restored to new condition. This car was recently serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that is included.

I had a 69 Z-28 RS , blue with white stripes and F 60's on the front and G60's on the rear. , 4- speed with the console and gauges. There were 2 previous owners by late 1970 that blew up 2 original 302 engines, and when I bought it, there was a 327 from a corvette in it. Got lots of looks in Columbus, ohio . Loved that car but was young and had no money, so I sold it after about a year.

I had a 1968 Z/28 black hounds tooth, tic-toc tach, M22 with console, no lap belts just shoulder seat belts, 488 factory gears, Kelly or Rally green. It was an Alabama car so not smog pump. I had docs where it was ordered in Anniston, AL and the only reason the person that ordered it did not take delivery was the dealership messed up the order and did not put the RS option on it. True rare car just like the PERFECT example above. Back in the 80s, there used to be a guy named FJR Incremonia and I had severl conversations with him about this car. He was a Z/28 expert back then.

    My 1st car was a 68,I gave 1500 $$ in 1979. It had a 350 small block,4 speed tranny,crager wheels,run good,no hot rod,only one problem,you could not keep it in 3rd gear. Sure wish i'd hung onto it.

Amazed how few people adjust(ed)/raise(d) the headrests to proper head alignment on any car from the '60-80s.
I don't understand why there isn't a breakdown of how many '67-69 Camaros were made with the MUCH rarer 230 & 250 SIX! cylinder Camaros that ALSO came with RS equip, which also means a 3:07 rear ratio. & how many of those have optional quicker ratio steering, disc brakes, a/c, p/w, etc. ! I bet you never even see one - especially a '69!!
Most had/have no idea you could even GET a six cyl with RS equip!

Surprised he did not mention how rare that steering wheel is and how rare the seats with the headrests on a 68 are.
