This is similar to my first car--a 1967 Camaro RS. Mine was powered by a 327 with four speed trans. The car was red, inside and out. Also with the custom interior package. In winter I had to disable the headlight doors because they didn't like to work at temperatures below 20 degrees F. In the spring, I reconnected the motors. The most troublesome aspect was by the car's second year the rear package shelf and the top of the back seat cushion turned black like a burnt marshmallow due to the Sun shining through the rear window. Otherwise, this style of Camaro is my favorite.
Good God a 12-second stock small block, yikes. I love the sound of a high revving small block. What a beautiful 1 owner and a great story. Thanks, Lou. I'll bet it took an hour to get the smile off your face LOL.

Beautiful resto, however were it mine, none of that pollution garbage would have been put back on. I would have boxed it up and mailed it to GM. But that's just me lol
That one came with the M22 nice. high 13s at 106-107 is doing real good for a stocker; wonder what he did to it and what times he ran when it was doing runs. Even in the 90s if your st car broke 100 in the 1/4 it was deemed respectable
Love, love that color! This car's got a great history too boot. I would trade my '99 Z28 convertible for one of these in a heartbeat. Another great video, Lou!
Had one... close ratio 4 speed muncie tyranny. Built 302 by a speed shop in Ganiesvill Ga...4.11 rear positive.... not a lot of torque until you reached about 4000 rpm then you could color me gone with a 850 dual line Holley! Hooker headers and a T Hurst shifter. Speed shop said it had right at 600 hp. It got about 8 miles to a gallon cruising...6 or less romping on it...lol!

Mr. Costabile, I'm wondering at what point does a car become classic, and what makes it a classic? My dad owned a 1973 LTD and what an ugly ass car that is. Another ugly ass car I can think of is the Dodge Dart Swinger, they can't be considered "classics", can they?
Hi SamuraiSamara 69, I believe a car is eligible for antique plates after it's 25 years old. Cars have an amazing way of looking better with age, so your Dad's ugly ass car, is probably not looking that bad now :-) Lou

Now THAT'S a worthy feature! Neat car for sure. Thanks for the upload!
Hi 20alphabet, Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-) You're welcome, Lou
This is similar to my first car--a 1967 Camaro RS. Mine was powered by a 327 with four speed trans. The car was red, inside and out. Also with the custom interior package. In winter I had to disable the headlight doors because they didn't like to work at temperatures below 20 degrees F. In the spring, I reconnected the motors. The most troublesome aspect was by the car's second year the rear package shelf and the top of the back seat cushion turned black like a burnt marshmallow due to the Sun shining through the rear window. Otherwise, this style of Camaro is my favorite.
Hi J Johnson, Happy to read this one brings memories of your 1st car :-) Sounds like you had a fun car too, Lou
Good God a 12-second stock small block, yikes. I love the sound of a high revving small block. What a beautiful 1 owner and a great story. Thanks, Lou. I'll bet it took an hour to get the smile off your face LOL.
Hi Rich, Happy to read enjoy the sounds of this car & the story too :-) Took some time to stop smiling, and I best when I'm around cars :-) Thank you for viewing, and you're welcome, Lou
If it turned 12.22 in the quarter mile it definitely wasn’t stock those cars were 15 second cars new from the factory
Love that Quadrajet moan. Very nice Camaro, first gen`s I think they got it right.
Happy to read you enjoy the sounds coming from this car :-)
@@loucostabile Thanks for all you do Lou!
Sorry but that is an 800 Holley
@@larrysmith4484 oops my bad still sounds great.
For only 290 h.p. high revving small block..they were a beast..nice car..great sound with that chambered exhaust etc..
Hi Bob, Agreed, this one goes good :-) Lou

Let’s not forget that the ‘68” was the first year that all American made vehicles, and probably all imports, required the sidelights. A safety factor.
2022 cars are rumored to come out with grill mask for safety lol

Beautiful resto, however were it mine, none of that pollution garbage would have been put back on. I would have boxed it up and mailed it to GM.
But that's just me lol

That one came with the M22 nice.
high 13s at 106-107 is doing real good for a stocker; wonder what he did to it and what times he ran when it was doing runs.
Even in the 90s if your st car broke 100 in the 1/4 it was deemed respectable

I recognize this car from Marked for death by Steven Seagal! What a beast!!! Yeah!!!

Love, love that color! This car's got a great history too boot. I would trade my '99 Z28 convertible for one of these in a heartbeat.
Another great video, Lou!
Hi Mark W, Happy to read you enjoy the color & history of this car :-) My pleasure sharing this video with you, Lou
Had one... close ratio 4 speed muncie tyranny.

So cool to see a FLAT HOOD Z.👍👍👍😸👍🍺
Nice :-)
The cowl induction hood was an option on the 1969 Camaro only, not on 67 or 68s .
I can assure a white Camaro is a dream.

Z/28 RS is my favorite Camaro.
Happy to read this one is a winner for you :-)
I've heard that the Z28's had 15 in wheels that put the bumpers too high, thus the need for the bumper guards.

How did he keep his original seats so soft after all these years? My '69 Barracuda original buckets are cracking sadly
Hmmm, I'm not sure. Hopefully Viewer can share tips.
@@loucostabile Thank you though for replying, Lou. I thought the owner maybe had a trick of his own that he shared with you, no problem!
I didn't do anything to keep the seats soft. I just got lucky. I wasn't stored in a heated garage so it went through a lot of temperature changes over the years.
@@larrysmith4484 That is very interesting, thank you for letting me know. Really nice car by the way. I like the fact that everything is factory correct. That is my goal, as well.

Big mistake , I sold my 1969Z/28 in fall of 1970 . i got tired of paying 35 cents agallon for premium gas ! Did have blast driving it in the Rocky Mountians on our honeymoon in August 1969.
Hi Ron, I think many of us fall in the camp of "big mistake" when it comes to cars we've had in the past. Ahhh, remember those fun times :-) Lou

@@loucostabile Ford LTD's are just plain boring but I get your point, thanks.
