Well Julian what a mixed bag of lessons in this episode!. We started off with scissors and clippers learning hair dressing. We moved on to a joint lesson in English and horticulture, followed by architectural design and I’m sure I saw some railway modelling in there somewhere 😂. A very enjoyable episode, and I loved how your brambles turned out.

Thanks Julian for another excellent episode - I always learn something fascinating & new…..especially as a fellow British rail modeller “down under”, even if I’m from NZ’s “western island “. David

Hi Julian, the new filled in area is coming on very nicely with newly sited brambles.
You mentioned sloping the road down towards the bridge, but from the camera angle it appears the road over the bridge slopes down to the current level.
May I suggest modifying the bridge, which would flatten off the road somewhat, to the new proposed level.

A lot of our great English stations are built with a slight slope in them to make it look like they’re totally level!! Some of them use that trick of the eye to very good effect. Others were hashed up in a hurry to get the station building completed before a certain date.

Hello, looking at the issue with the road level, because you have done so much wonderful work already, why not put road works across the the two levels. You could even have temporary road closure signs etc. Just a thought! Love the channel………….. TonyH

See Everard Junction, He prods and pushes with his fingers, and brings a real authenticity to his static grass. Just a thought.

Just an observation, I would expect to see some sort of fence across the disused bridge butress as this is fairly normal hear on the UK on safety grounds and has been for as long as I can remember which is quite a long way back. Thanks for giving us your mthod for making brambles - I'm going to try that!

Hi Julian. Firstly, love your videos and I am always in awe of your scenic modelling skills. Thank you.
I just wanted to comment on the zebra crossing in front of the pub. The zig zag lines on the approach would not have appeared on the road surface until the 1970s, which I think is later than the period you are modelling? For substantiation, see probably the most well-known picture of a British zebra crossing on the front cover of The Beatles Abbey Road album. Taken in 1969, and no zig zags.

You talked about the platform not being wide enough, you could shunt the near track over to make some more room, I know it's HO/OO gauge so it can't be to scale to the photo but it would make it look more like the photo I guess and give you more room, I know it might not be worth the hassle with your turn outs, but just an idea.
    Nice going.

The area in which you’re working looks somewhat similar to a certain viaduct between Surrey and East Sussex. I went over it on my Brighton trip this year.

Regarding the plan to utilise the former Barry Railway station at Wenvoe (Gil and Laura's project - 'The Old Station Renovation'), as the basis for your replacement station building(s). Great idea and collaboration, but I do wonder if the 'mass' of Wenvoe's main station building (as it exists/existed) might be slightly too small for the overall station 'footprint' that your layout has? Irrespective of whether we can agree on that point, one possible solution (or perhaps an opportunity for the future?), would be to make your lasercut design 'modular', so that the length of the building could be increased as desired. To do that, take the window 'pairs' sections of the building that lie immediately either side of the front entrance and create additional 'modules' based on them, for insertion between those same windows and the gabled wings at each end. That way, you could still make an 'accurate' version of the building as intended, but also a larger mass (longer) version, effectively making the station's entrance hall, booking hall and waiting room area, larger than on the prototype. As usual, it's 'just a thought'.

Hi Julian. Sorry, but I just burst out laughing when I saw you trim the "grass" with your hair/beard trimmer - very effective, though! Your bramberries look so good (you could almost eat them!). I too would hate to see your bridge go. Perhaps to could design a visual representation of your plans for its replacement - if you would like viewers' comments, of course. I love your idea of using a photo of the real brickwork for the new station. I hope you will recycle your original model station if possible.
