    Great lesson Kirstin. You can see how the horse’s body becomes more elastic. Well I thought so anyway 😊
    Thanks Kirstin really enjoying your instruction videos 😊👍🏻

    Love this exercise, as you say in video, not only great for young horses but also found it has really helped riding my big barefoot horse and being more balanced on corners on particularly slippery grass dressage or SJ arenas. Thanks Kirstin 👍👍

      Hi Renee, Glad to hear it helps your horse, being balanced is crucial when they are barefoot. Do you have any topics you'd like covered in the next series . And thanks for your warm up suggestions last set, lots of people enjoyed those too.

    Love this exercise! Great for keeping them straight and balanced. Have noticed a big difference in my girl and just realized I haven’t tried this with my boy yet. Might have to do some squares with him next week 🙂 Thanks for all your awesome videos Kirstin, keep them coming 👍

      Hi Katie, yes and only thinking of bend and forgetting straightness is a major down fall of lots of riders. Thanks for your comment

    I love the look of this exercise, and I think that my horse would really benefit from this, and me as well! Your videos have really helped me to improve with my riding and SJ rounds, as that was the discipline that I have needed to work on! Thank you!!

    Haha and I just thought of another one! I would love to see some specific bending exercises - I think you may have covered lightly in warm up videos but I would love to see what bending exercises you have.

    Its a great exercise! I see you do some lifting of your hand when needed. Since I ride with a straight bar bit, will I get the same effect as with a snaffle?

    • @KirstinKellyEquestrian
      @KirstinKellyEquestrian  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nancy, yes lifting the hand up, lifts the bit up into the corner of the lips instead of pulling. It will work just as well with a straight bar, in fact it will be better. Here is a video on the different ways to use your hands . th-cam.com/video/UdkK5MYFTtA/w-d-xo.html
      How are you getting on? Is he getting easier to turn with this exercise ?

    So the Aids are outside rein to move the shoulders over and outside leg, and inside leg to hug his side..

    • @KirstinKellyEquestrian
      @KirstinKellyEquestrian  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that’s right , some horses will be harder to turn so need more outside rein and others might fall in so need more inside leg .

  • @urennaaxo815
    @urennaaxo815 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm still confused on how to do this exercise. What exactly do you have to do with your reins and legs?

    • @KirstinKellyEquestrian
      @KirstinKellyEquestrian  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      •Basic Naturality• so glad you asked because it’s a great exercise and it’s important to ask correctly. You close the outside rein towards the wither . Open and gently lead the horse with inside hand . Outside leg hugs the belly to assist the turn and only need the inside leg if horse falls in after the turn or tries to turn too early. Hope that clarifies the aids. Happy riding
