  • How to stop your horse falling in, isn't just a matter of moving them off your inside leg. This video explains how the shoulders falling in makes the neck counterbalance to the outside and how you need to move the shoulder out to get the neck to hang in the middle so the horse can balance. If you kick the horse with your inside leg but the shoulder is heavy on the inside foot or the horse isn't connected in the outside rein, then he can't move off your leg. I often hear riders say the horse is ignoring my inside leg but you have to ensure the shoulder energy is moving straight into the outside rein before you try using your leg.
Together with TeQ clothing, I am bringing you a great deal on the TeQ tights that I am seen wearing in this set of videos. The tights are super comfortable and the material on the inside thigh and leg really helps when you're trying to sit to the trot, sit a buck, or trying to stay connected when jumping. Buy the tights and get a belt for only $10.00 NZD.

I think this advice will be absolutely life-changing on some of the schooling horses I ride at my local barn. Definitely going to give it a try.

I have been trying for months to get my horse to lift the dropped shoulder my using my inside leg & rein, and as you say I just ended up with an aching arm and stiff tense horse horse. I Tried this method of opening the outside rein, I cannot believe it worked straight away. I now have a horse that does not fall in :) thank you

Excellent, so glad it helped. There are so many things with horses that have a system and if you don’t do one step the whole thing doesn’t work

Important to help address this issue with regular physio sessions for horse and rider as both mirror one another. Horses are left or right handed as we are which over ridden years has a knock on effect upon the musculoskeletal problem. Combine with corrective exercises 👌

Yes totally right Helen, and ensuring that your flatwork schooling should be a form of Physio to keep the horse soft, relaxed and balanced.
