I WILL NEVER beg you guys for views or likes that insult your intelligence TH-cam has been around for what? 20 25 years now if someone doesn't know what to do when they like or dislike a video by now then I'm sorry, so I respect you enough to know what to do
a little about me;
I'm 56 & a Master Certified Mechanic, paint&body man, and Welder, IQ of 150, and own & operate 2 small businesses, Hobbies are--metal detecting since the 1980's, raced motocross when I was in my 20's, draged race old muscle cars, & collect and shoot things that go BANG!--LOL
My wife & I are foster parents and have been for the last 10 years or so, though our 2 kids have graduated college and working on their lives we wanted to give back somehow with our time because we don't have a lot of money we had time and that's how I work my business I charge by donations if you can afford more then that covers those that can't pay a lot so though I don't make a lot of money I don't go into the hole either or at least not for long and the people that do get work done whether, on their vehicle or electronics or computers, they know they can trust me because I'm not doing it for the money only to do what's right,
this is why I'm coming down so hard on this manticore for $1700 we should have got a LOT better detector!

Oh my oh my! This inspired me to try this simple test with my Deus 2. It passed easily in most of the factory programs! Even when directly on top of a nail! Even harder in my saved programs! I've been experimenting with all Deus settings/combinations, and one setting that has my attention is the Magnetic accept/reject. Set to reject, the nails remain silent and the quarter bangs hard! So does the Manticore have a similar setting?😮

I was hoping someone would do this with the XP , I almost bought that instead but with all the hype around the manticore I wasted my money on it unfortunately
And to answer your question no it doesn’t have a setting like that the closet this has is the horseshoe that opens it up,
I wish I could trade this for an XP but I wouldn’t do this to whoever I was trading this to, but could if they knew exactly what they were getting
But again the purpose of my video was hopes minelab would make it right but I’m not holding my breath YOU WATCH dollars to donuts they will just put out another detector to compete with the xp and the vortex and leave all of us that spent A LOT Of money on the manticore holding the bag
Thanks for posting and when I get my hobby bank built back up I’ll be getting the XP next, I’m DONE With minelab unless they do a 360 and start taking care of the public again

@andrewtrafford9195 Looks like it is? Were a Deus there, it would have nailed the coin. I recall early Manticore vids showing lots of iron falsing?
A lot of the early videos with iron falsing have since had a follow up by the same poster explaining it was their user error.
Incorrect ferrous limits.
Too high sensitivity etc
The Manticore is different.
Turn on and go detectors behave differently.
I encourage you to stick with it and learn.
I’ve used many detectors and the manticore is the best.

Wow! Just wow, if I couldn't set up the Manticore correctly, the last thing I would do is make a video about it!
User error: You are near a large fence with tracking ground balance turned on, several times throughout the video when you look at your ground balance setting it is ranging from 30-90. By swinging near that large fence you are messing up your ground balance because you have tracking on. Also, you aren't recreating the Garrett's Vortex test because you are using different nails in different orientations which can have a significant impact on unmasking, so without a Vortex in your hand you couldn't assume the Vortex would hit it either.

Only I do have a 1980's 6000di pro in my hands and it hits it, so that conversation is mute, you guys need to stop just stop, the idea was for the fricking thing to hit the quarter NOT THE NAILS OR THE FENCE that's ill-relevant & believe me when I tell you this I didn't spend 1800 bucks not to try EVERY possible setting to try and get it to pick up that damn quarter. I just showed enough on video to get my point across, and if I can't detect 4 feet from a fence what are we doing with it in the first place,? again I'm not doing these videos to bash on a company I'm doing them because I spent my hard earned money on something that is not even close to what I spent, the sooner you guys get that in your head and stop being brain washed by the almighty minelab name the sooner we'll get a decent detector, A 1980'S MACHINE SHOULD NOT DO BETTER AT FINDING A QUARTER ON THE GROUND THAN A $1800 DOLLAR MACHINE! PERIOD!!! Quit trying to find something that I did or didn't do and go run your own test, any 300 dollar and up detector is going to find a single coin in the ground under 10-12 inches plain & simple there's nothing special about that its when that said coin gets around nails or scrap is when I want something to find it, how many targets is that manticore missing? you don't know because its NOT letting you know something good is next to garbage..........

maybe I'm different because I'm in the repair business and I get customers everyday saying how this company & that company has ripped them off, just trying to expose it
and the 2 business I run are run off donation only so the people know their not getting ripped so the ones that can pay more covers the ones that can't so it kinda evens out if not I chip in, so you guys see again not doing this for anything other than to open some eyes and help get ua a better detector, WE ALL SHOULD WANT THAT, if not then ill assume your with the bigger company's trying to save face
@@hotroddder1 Give me a few days and I clearly demonstrate on video how swinging near a fence with tracking groundbalance will skew the ground balance in such a way that it's ability to discriminate in iron is being compromised. It's clear as day what is going on in this video.
The difference is that older detectors do not have tracking ground balance, because that is a 'digital' feature requiring software.

Ive owned the manticore for 2 months and actually learned how to use it, read the manual, etc. Im swimming in old silver and gold no lie. I only wish I had bought it sooner its an incredible machine, your video has only demonstrated that you dont know how to use it. I found more Silver, Gold and old coppers in July than I did for the first 7 months of the year using the Legend and Deus II. I didnt pay even close to $1500 for mine much less but knowing what I know now I would have. How long have you owned the Manticore and how many hours of use in live conditions have you logged?
This is not acceptable. You cannot throw down nails and a quarter and say the Manticore fails next to a Vortex when you dont even own the Vortex first. Next Garret arranged those nails so the Vortex would hit the quarter! You i am sure did not lay the nails out exactly the same then detect from the same direction with the sweep. Had they turned 90 degrees in the Garret video i am willing to garrantee the Vortex would not see the quarter anymore. The only way you can compare this is with both detectors in your hands on the same extact setup for both. Turn one off pick up the other and try.
Next you never changed direction of your sweep. I get lots of silver coins and one direction i get a perfect signal and turn 90 and it vanishes dur to iron. If you moved one of your nail that could change the entire thing. Or walk around swinging over the target until you hit the sweet spot where the quarter pops. Thats exactly what Garret did. They found the sweet spot to sweep over that cluster of nails where it would pick up the quarter. You never changed your sweep direction or changed the layout of the nails. I can detect a silver dime with a rusty square nail laying directly on a sivler coin! But only in one direction! On a 90 sweep the nail blanks the silver coin out. I spin 90 more and boom silver is back. They factors here are huge. The only way you could make a case is to have the Vortex right there with you to test your setup side by side. Not toss a handfull of nails and a quarter down and say you got ripped off. Rediculous. Garrets video is set up to make the Vortex look its best. Clearly you know this right?
They found an arrangement for the nails and the perfect sweep for it to hit. When i seen that Garret clip i starting laughing! Those nails where brand new first of all. So clean metal easier gor the machine to detect. Next the nails where an easy 2" away from the coin all the way around! Next they had them laying vertical on each side of the quarter or close to it. The mchine had a 2" gap on each side with vertical brand new not rusty nails. Then they swept in that perfect direction. Boom perfect signal to sell gullible folks that this works. A parlor trick setup perfect for the video. I can replicate this no problem with any machine i own. And i have all the current top machines including the Manticore. They Manticore, Deus 2, and Legend will hit the quarter from any direction with a 2" spacing all the way around the coin. I would have been impressed just like i am with the 3 machines i mentioned if they had layed a nail on the coin and detected it. And no none will detect that coun with a RUSTY bent nail laying on or next to or even above the silver coun from all directions. But it will from most of the way around with a specific spot giving a great signal and the 90 oppsite sweep giving NO signal. These tests have to be conducted with both machines side by side on the exact same scenario. Not what you set up at home with your machine vs a video put together by the people selling and hyping up the newest detector they want to sell.
Just think about this a little bit. I highly recommend you delete this video and really spend some time learning about your Manticore and how it works. You said stabilizer wasn't working at all. I can hear the stabilizer working perfectly in the sound. Which is where it has an affect. It has no affect on the tdi value or the 2d screen. Which you clearly don't know anything about. Stabilizer was working fine. Please delete this video. Start over and think about how you are trying to compare these machines.

@@sylverdetective5547 nope not a Minelab fanboy at all. As a matter of fact I own a Legend, Simplex+, Manticore, Nox 800, XP Deus 2, Garrett At Max, Whites DFX, Mxt, Gold master, Minelab gpx4000, and a little Bounty hunter.
Have enjoyed them all. Actually looking forward to a USA made detector. Not impressed with the Vortex specs or current videos.
But seeing someone compare a manufactures selling video which is staged 100% to make the detector look good to anther machine of any kind under completely different conditions and setup is rediculous and just about the dumbest comparison I have ever seen and heard. Now had both machines been show side by side doing the exact same test at that moment then you can go claiming and showing the difference in your setup and situation. But to compare any 2 machines when you don't have both in your hands? Does not matter which 2 machines brands or models. This is not apples to apples comparison.
Hell I seen a fella make a 30 yard put in the golf tournament.....I thought dam I own a putter let me set up that shot in my front lawn.....Nope I couldn't make it....this brand of putter I own is crap I think I will jump on TH-cam and let everyone know this putter sucks and I wasted my money! Get the point?
You need to learn how to use the Manticore better before badmouthing it.
I just went out and ran this same test with my Manticore, and it was great, I had no issues identifying the quarter among rusty iron.
I think your frustration is the problem, and the more you got upset, the worse it became. This might seem crazy, but could it be that the machine picks up on your frustration, haha
You didnt compare anything. You watched a 10 sec video then complained for 15 minutes. Sell your manticore and buy a vortex. Then, stop crying.

The new Garrett Vortex aka “Smurf machine” is a disaster! Doesn’t even compete with Minelabs entry level machines. Garrett cost cutting all over this machine with the same coil/headphones as the 15 year old at pro. If only Garrett spent as much money on product development as celebrity colaberations they may have been competitive. Garrett is going downhill fast.
We get it, trust me after stating your IQ is 150 at least three times in the comments already that your IQ is…wait for it, wait for it…150! Set up the Manticore correctly, get away from the fence, and give it a go.

@mentaldetectingireland indeed, however, nothing but good things from people that actually have put it through test!! I speak with on a daily basis. I will be buying 50 of them just because of people like calabash and others that dog it and haven't even used it, lol.
I bought a lot of metal detectors over the years. So far my favorite is the deus2 but I have not tried a lot of these newer ones. I can't believe how many people get their feelings hurt over these videos
What are your ferrous limits set to? If the target is in the light grey you’ll hear it - iron or a coin. Tweak this until the nail response is gone. Also not sure it makes a difference but hold down the noise cancel til it has a stable number. Seems to me we need a target bias in addition to a ferrous bias

I think you have enough answers to your question. Your American commentors seem to have done a pretty good job of explaining where you appear to be going wrong.if I were you I'd set your machine back to default and sit down and go through the online manual. Lots of people make the mistake of putting utube settings in before they know the machine , yours seems to be a classic example but if you keep your machine on factory settings it should work fine until you get your head round what the machines telling you.one more thing your watching an official garret video , ask yourself this, they tested the machine on low reactivity, why didn't they test it on the fastest, ask yourself that.id wait until you see the like of iffy or calabash doing some testing before I'd part with any any of my hard earned on this garret junk!.

Good video. You really did get a lot of interesting reactions here in the comment section! The Vortex may end up being pretty awesome for a reasonable price. We'll just have to wait and see.
The falsing was due to a combination of not adjusting the upper ferrous limits to encompass the majority of signals from the iron, having the sensitivity too high and swinging too fast.
Stay with All Terrain General, start at sensitivity 20 and long press noise cancel. Reduce sensitivity until the falsing decreases, 15-18 is usually fine. Recovery 3 should be OK.
Try again and report if improved.

The main reason the Vortex is interesting to me is the limited adjustments needed. Turn it on and go

Just wanted to make my point that a $1700 detector could not detect a quarter among nails like the Vortex could along with my White”s 6000 di/pro

I'd advise you to watch calabash digger friend, your just showing your inability to work the machine properly. Thousands of manticore users love the machine. I suggest you by your garnett as its a turn on and go machine which would seem suitable for your experience with detectors.

Calabash is a buffoon. He got his feelings hurt when he didn't get chosen Mr XP America. He even went after his boy TNSharpshooter because he was shining the light on the D2's weaknesses. Now he seems to be sucking on that Nokta teat...or at least trying to. lol
the nails are irrelevant when I'm trying to get it to hit the quarter, it plainly doesn't pick the quarter out of the nails the main focus of this test, is to NOT hit on the nails BUT to HIT on the quarter, trust me I wasn't going to sit there for an hour on the video letting you guys watch me go through all the settings and try different scenarios I did enough I felt to get my point across, oh and my experience I own 2 businesses 1 computer & electronics repair and 1 automotive restoration and been in the hobby for over 30 years, I didn't do this to get into pissing matches I just wanted to show that this thing is nowhere near worth the $1850.00 I paid for it..period...& I did try everything, the software on this machine isn't rocket science it's actually pretty simple show me a video where it can pick that quarter out of the nails with the manticore and I'll stand corrected don't think there is one

Manticore has a serious falsing issue.

After posting my first D2 comment, what the heck... I might as well nail test my Legend with the latest update. Total fail! Even with fast reactivity, I was not able to knock out the nails and hit the coin. Even with the machine wide open and hearing the iron nails, the coin was masked. This is surprising. I thought all these newer machines passed a simple nail test? Unless I'm doing something wrong, as a beach hunter, I would not hear a big gold ring near iron😮 Ledgend users, when in Beach, multi wet, what settings would pass this nail test, yet still work in wet salt sand?
I would have thought it would have passed my nokta was close so I would have thought you would have pulled it, I would be carrions if anyone else tried the nail test with the legend? now my old whites 6000 picked up the quarter a small amount of scratch but got it so a 30+ old machine can do it easy without any adjustment or fiddling the manticore couldn’t with over 30 minutes of fiddling with settings and FACTORY RESET settings also
I think it’s funny when you get people crying about this and about the precious manticore that’s when you know you hit the target, I think if they had a case then they should post a video of it doing it ..wait it can’t
The ground was dirty. You were getting signals before you ever put the nails down.

yes I installed the fence and I know how far I can get to it before it sets the detector off and that's not half as bad as a ferrous carbon fiber rod right next to the coil, take your pinpointer and set it by that carbon fiber rod and see what happens
He is not too close to that fence. And if he is then that manticore really sucks
I'm not a fan boy of any detector company. But I have to say that the Vortex provided a much more diggable tone.
yes, I feel the same , I'm defiantly not committed to any 1 brand, but I admit I was partial to whites their service was second to none
