found your channel through this Astra series. amazing work I've finally watched them all. Came across you as I picked up a Mk4 SXI 1.6 last week. I didn't have the work to do you did when you got yours but your videos will prove incredibly useful for any future work I need to do. Thank you so much for such a detailed and extensive series.
Those seats look amazing, they really set the car off, and totally transform the look of the interior, I really like this Astra, it looks better every time it appears on the channel!!.
Hi from Brazil. The same thing happened to me when I washed my Astra rear seats. The center rear seat belt got stuck, but went back to normal. Astra CD 2.0 16v
Looks really nice James, I know the feeling when you get a result like that, and even cleaning them up to that standard is very rewarding. Good to see you back to form and putting out plenty of material. One of my favourite sites. Keep up the good work.
Finished my Fiesta's engine bay in the summer using Yum Dress. Use VERY sparingly but it is good on plastics you dont need to touch very often. Quite glossy, but feels ultra shiny. Hard to describe. I've no doubt it'll be great on tyres from my usage on plastics so far. I like their products. Lemon air freshener is one of my favourite car things of any type from any brand. And I completely get the whole seat thing!
Love a mk4 Astra! Blue stitching on the handbrake and gear surround. Thinking silver console to match the gear knob! Excellent video like the old days!
Same for most rear seats, they need to be in the car and in the right position in order to release the seatbelts. I found this out in my VRS when doing a full detail clean and panicked like hell!
@The Savage Garage Now you have changed the seats wont the seat airbag throw on the airbag light as its not connected. Should of swopped them over aswell whilst seats out.
The old seats did not have airbags, only the gsi seats. So the car did not have the wiring to support the seat airbags. So it will not throw any codes.
Love this .... I recently did the recaro swap on my mondeo St used your video as reference, completely transforms the car , a lot of love for the Astra to I used to own a zaf gsi in Arden blue
Really enjoy your Astra uploads, James. I have a 2.2 Sri in Silver - fantastic car. It's great to learn a few bits and pieces from you about maintenance and improvement. All the best to you.
Nice roof spoiler, an change cluster dials to white with blue led bulbs really stand out with blue on seats an as u said blue stitching on handbrake an gearstick gaitor, keep up da videos really enjoying dem,,.👍 Fin in Ireland 🇮🇪
Great content! Been watching for a few years now! I do miss the mondeo st! Was actually yourself who made me go and get one myself and was a dream come true at the age of 21! Also done the boost gauge exactly the same way as you did! Keep up the good work bud!✌️
Looks very good, I thit the same thing with my BMW full leather. It is always very satisfying when you have done it yourself. The centerconsole, change it back to stock black, or in the color of the car.
Awesome, thank you for this video. I’m in New Zealand, we only got poverty spec Astra G’s. I’ve seen a few convertibles around but don’t know of any 3dr turbos. My seats are clapped, and have zero bolstering. May try and work out fitting other seats into it, like some factory recaro options. Accord Euro R CL1 seats are amazing, but they’re expensive.
Great content again... the only thing with them seat it's the Mark's/ slight tears on front seats I'd have to get then sorted...little mod led rear registration plate lights.
@@chucky2316 I think he will see the funny side of it. Last time I said something about the dirt, he put an extra clip in a video showing the dirt saying "oh no what am I gonna do" keep calm lol.
@@robbie2025 Na lol just a loyal test fuel economy is gay and I like the fact that people in there Toyota Prius are trying to save the planet and I start my de cat straight through diesel up to make there journeys useless 🤣🤣
Seat belts have a mechanical device in them that tells them if the car is on four wheels(upright) and lock if it is not hence the rear seat belt locking when you tested it. Good video
Just on a quick note. Your spare wheel is a 4 stud and your alloys are 5 stud . I watched the conversion videos you did . Keep up the good work pal love the videos
Bit late commenting as I’m behind on your vids James, I really love where this car has ended up from what it started as on the channel,I honestly think it’s hard choice between these and mk4 golf as my favourite car, love to see an engine swap in this but as you say it’s pricey, great content James you also seem very happy in your content making recently
Hey, man you are doing great, I follow your work (hobby), since the beginning. Keep up the good work, and some advice, you can think for upgrading the side mirrors from manual to electric, it's really easy and straight forward procedure.😉
Some nice leather door cards next? Get some touch up pen on the drivers edge. Also, you can use heat gun or steamer to remove slack from the leather and make tight again, some good vids on here showing how to
You could fit italian leather handbrake & gearlever gaitors james. Aaron unknown on youtube got them somewhere. They looked real good. Not sure where he got them from. Carbon fibre effect for centre of the dash with triple gauge conversion. Smoked wind deflectors. Twin irmscher exhaust.
Looking good 😎 was wondering have you got any videos on water problems inside car . I have water in passenger side front and rear floor and have no idea where it’s coming from 😩
Must admit My MK4 SRI Turbo is still the scariest car ive ever owned. It had the full GSI interior and i agree totally about the seats they are awesome! Have a look at a Z20LET Conversion. You wont regret it.
The centre seatbelt on the bench was locked because you had it on its' side. The belt retractor thought it was in a car that had rolled and so locked up as it is designed to. The belt was in the fully retracted position against the little plastic button on the webbing so it's unlikely to have locked up from a crash with someone wearing it as it would be in the extended position then... I think the fact that the retainer bracket for the seat wiring connector is missing on your new front seats is pretty much proof that the came from a Zafira rather than an Astra as the wiring loom is different on the Zafira so the plugs are in a different place on the floor. One thing I would say, and I know it's a royal pain now the seats are in, but you really need the convoluted tubing over the under-seat wiring as it's there to prevent spilled drinks from running along the wiring and ending up getting into the connectors causing functional issues with the safety equipment. They aren't just there to keep everything tidy, the manufacturers wouldn't spend that money just to do that, they really do actually have a genuine function...
The reason why the seat belt wasn't working was because the seat was on its side and it locks up, so when your upside down in a crash the seat belt keeps you locked in 👌🏻 great video
Think you have to find the correct gsi bumpers for it now and all the other little gsi bits, leave the engine alone until you’ve finished all the other bits and then make a decision on whether to swap it or not 👍🏻
I loved the Mk4 I had then I went caught the diesel bug lol. I am looking for a rear seat the bench one for my Audi a4 avant sport b6 I can find them but there normally in a set or to expenses for what they are av got the sline leathers in front no to bad looking good quality.🤟👍
Hi mate have you seen the steering wheel cover in the forum for these? I seen an Alcantara one with blue stitching for the gsi wheel. Was from Ali express would make a good video and a really smart mod!
I have got the same problem with my car. I also had the problem with the cables but now i know how to fix it so thanks for the video! But my question is know how to get the airbag light of because my previous seats had the airbag and also my new ones but the cables are different so do you have a seclusion for that?

Best thing I did to my Passat was fit half leather heated seats.
Great video James! Thoroughly enjoyed watching it and the plastics came up very very well

Might be worth checking if the seat frames are the same as the SXI seats? Could swap all the foam and covers onto the tilting frames.
I think if you done the roof liner and pillars plastic in black would be nice touch for the interior

I’ve got 2 gsi door cards you can have if you want them 👍 in Warrington
Deffo blue stitching and black as main colour on the gaitors!
on the inside I would like to see changing the colour of the headliner and the A/B pillars. Have you ever considered turbo-ing a car?
I was going to suggest the same interior wise.

I think you should try paint less dent repair on the ns rear panel.
Brilliant video as always the astra is my favourite car of your collection would like to see you do coilovers and Poly bush it 👌
He already coilovered it 👍👍
Paint central consol in silver to match car paint I did that on my astra and it is amazing
How about making the headlining black or even better alcantara?
Looks awesome pal, well done
Good too see the Astra back :) should do a wrap on the roof for next mod. Get some good hexis wrap for 30 quid delivered on ebay.

Seat belts have gravity device to lock the belt with impact. Also if the car rolls, the belts will lock.. great vids.
Double din dash centre console. Bilstein B4 shock abs with 40mm springs.
You can make the airbags to work open up your seats from the back and just swap de wires from there that end is the same in a mk4 & 5
Ordered 2 lots if Yum Dress, one as an xmas gift, the other for me! Cheers for the discount code, have a great Christmas, jon

nice job there mate they look really nice sets the car off mate
New springs and bigger discs in the front mate 👍
The gsi seats make a huge difference fair play for future videos maybe change the front bumper and rear for gsi and maybe v6 it further down the line
Looks great! I especially like the mk4 content, great stuff.
Seats look sick 🔥🔥
On both the drivers and passenger seats there is a patch of white on the bolster where it is worn. A black marker pen would solve that.
Not much more you can do to that car now without spoiling it. Looks bloody superb currently dude! 😎😎👌🏼
They look nice , but, is it an MOT failure if the front seats don't fold down to allow back seat passengers in or out?

pre adjusters and fitment are different because they are Zafira gsi seats, Astra Gsi are the same fitment as SXI etc
Great upgrade!
Have you got the airbags working.🤔
you maybe could retro fit the the set eject lever from the old ones :-)
