Schaaf as a GS owner, i really liked this video, but as i recall it, the very first vídeo that youtube suggest me from your channel was the SAS 1290 RAW. So, any RAW with BMW's R 1250 GS or GSA, S 1000 XR or KTM's SAS 1290 will be great. Great roads and rides! 👍😁

Today I got the chance to testride (20min each) about 9 BMW bikes. R1250R GS RS, S1000XR RR, K16GT, F900R, G310R and R18.
As you mentioned in your CBR1000RR video, the sportbike does not really make sense power wise, but I too love the chassis and suspension. That thing felt like a knife and I loved it.
For back road chinanigans I really liked the R1250R with it's flickable setup and low end grunt.
The G310R was really needed so I did not go crazy on my way home on my beloved R1100S. 😁

Hi Schaaf, great video! Thank you for the link to Google Maps with the route of your short trip. I am driving the 1250 GS since 2019 and I love the super handy bike with the great sound out of stock. I prefer to drive in Dynamic Pro mode. Really great is for example driving the Stilfser Joch in the Alps uphill, most of the narrow curves in 2nd gear ... 👌👋

super beruhigend und angenehm. Man mag über die GS und auch die Fahrer sagen was man will, aber es ist einfach wirklich ein schönes Motorrad. Hinzu kommt noch deine Fahrkunst und man hat einfach ein richtig schönes Video.

My #1 reason why I prefer the GS over any other bike (while not being a 50+ yo dentist) is how much fun you can have without being in permanent danger of losing your license. However: The GS can do both. Rev it up to 6,000rpm in 3rd gear and you‘re flying. Also very different characteristic of the bike overall. 6:10 you‘ll get a taste.
Maybe you can do a high rev video of the GS?

They are far from boring,try following a well ridden GS .....fanstastic bikes and I have owned over 40 different bikes in my lifetime .
My 2007 GS is by far the quickest across back roads.

I have heard people who used to own one call it boring because it is just too perfect.
They are Not boring, Maybe it has something to do with the people that can afford such a bike, and the Ride Style. Never Seen a gs Rider that rides like you.

This is one of my favourite videos, second to the one with the Tenere but i would like to see a video with this bike on a road with more straights
In my opinion the best Touringbike would be a BMW R1250 XR, a XR Chassis with the 1250 boxer engine... or a 1250 GS with 17inch wheels and a bit more sporty seating position
R1250GS w/17" wheels and more aggressive ergos is the R1250RS. I have one, and have had a K1200RS and a R1100RS before that. BMW's RS line is outstanding.

@@Schaaf Different design choices when setting frame geometry. GS is designed for all-terrain use and that needs higher agility, at the expense of stability at high speeds.
Yup they should have a boxer variant for every frame except a supersport with fairings

@@carloalbertoranzani8041 I thought that too but have you ridden an XR? After decades of BMW RS seats that give me the ability to change my seating position and riding style so much, I find I don't like the sort of single-position seating an XR offers. LOVED the power but hated the seat.

I believe it’s either the wind mufflers (the weird furry cloth covering the mic) or maybe a mic inside the helmet
The older I get, the better she looks :) Popular for a reason but you have to live with the fact that yours probably is the No. 345.876 on any given mountain pass. Sure bring on more 🥊

I really love your videos, especially on any of the boxer engines and of course the GS. you really capture the sound that I hear on every one of my rides!! I have a question regarding your setup. Are you running two cameras, one on your chest (for video) and another one down near the exhaust for audio and then matching them? I know this may seem like a simplistic question. I am not very technical in this regard. I want to make some videos of my ride that capture what you capture!!! NEVER MIND!!! I just saw your tutortial!!!!

Still thinking about a 1250 GS or R. I don't ride off road, usually a 1 or 2 day trip, solo only. I'm closer to the R, but the GS isn't bad... :-)
R is so fun, it’s like putting that engine on a bicycle, but it’s way too stiff for my glass buttocks 😢 and I would put a little windscreen because over 150-180km/h the head gets fused with the shoulders, kinda messing up with the naked appearance
I'd take the GS. To my liking the R is not agile enough.
You can try the RS. Not as tall as GS but you won't get shaken like the R.

You've ridden the RnineT, GSA, and the Moto Guzzi V7 as well as the V85TT. Which one of them, on your opinion, would be the best compromise od comfort, price, riding pleasure and soul (this untouchable somerhing that makes we ride). P.S. I live to watch your KTM Duke 690 run with the GERONIMO! call 😃

Hey Schaaf, nice video as always, came directly into a time where Im looking to upgrade my GS 310 into either a GS 1250 or Tracer 900 GT (Brazilian version). Do you think it would be worth waiting for ACC thats probably coming next year? I havent used one on bikes yet so not sure how would it impact long trips using a GS for example.

I'd prefer Road 6s over the Anakees but both are not my favourite. Try the new Conti Road Attack 4 if you want great road tires

Your Upshifts are GS on Point,like we ride 450ies in Motocross,but with downshifts i cannot agree.
It least one to far below to my Taste,you can keep torque and momentum way better.

Hey schaaf i have been quite in a dilemma lately regarding if i made the right choice purchasing the new gs over the gsa . I wanna do a lot touring 2 up across europe and weekend country roads for 1-2 day trip . What would you choose between gs and gsa ?
Mate you made the right choice. You'll find enough gas stations throughout Europe to not need the capacity of the GSA while benefitting from the weight savings.
This is my personal dilemma
I’m for the weight savings, I don’t need that much tank here in Italy and the gs looks way better (to me)
But how much weight would I be saving with the crash bars and alu case mount plus lights I would install anyway?
I'd take the GS over the GSA. It has more than enough range and feels a bit less intimidating when it comes to size

If you had to choose between the bmw or the multistrada, which one would you go with?

Do you feel the nose dive when you brake? or does the BMW Tele-lever suspension actually work?
You can feel the weight transfer to the front tyre still but the nose doesn't dive like it does on conventional forks. You also lose feedback from the road through the bars and gain the confidence to direct the front wheel anywhere you please without it upsetting the ride, even on terrible roads. I've owned my GS for 6 months and trust the front end with trail braking hard into damp corners. Even when its slipping it gives some notice.
@@jasperwright4690 Wait but how does losing feedback gain confidence? Dont you want to have the feedback from the road to gain confidence?
@@millardlee4153 I've found that masking some of the feedback from bad roads helps me relax and just put the tyre where it needs to go. In contrast on my striple RS or ZX6R I have zero confidence to push on bad roads.
It works like a charm and on most adventure bikes the feedback is hard to decipher anyway therefore I think the Telelever taking away clarity is not that big of a deal.
Great bikes I’ve had three but I prefer my Multi V2S, far more fun, much better gearbox and sounds so much better…

Coming from an F850GSA I’m thorn between the 1250GS with engine crash bars+alu case support+auxiliary lights, or going directly towards the GSA - I would like to have better weight and volume, but I’m thinking the weight save would be negligible
I'd take the standard GS. I think the giant fuel tank is not necessary unless you plan to be a hardcore adventurer

@@yrammath61 I have a 2020 R1250RS with an Akrapovič slip on. I think you're right, this was a GS with an Akra straight out of Berlin.
As for Akra headers, those aren't available stock on any 1250.

I just spent 2 weeks on a Africa Twin with DCT in South Africa. I have a R1200GS at home in Sweden.
The Africa Twin is shit compared to a GS. Guttless, poor handling and the bike is way too top heavy.
The Africa Twin does sound nice but thats about it...
