    Hey there, I'm sure this is kind of random but I have a question. do you have any recommendation for how to reduce the affects created by the static machine that are felt physically? Like if a person where inside of a faraday enclosure would they not feel the hair teasing and tickling affect of the static? Or do you use anything in your shop to reduce the stray static in the air? I ask because my apartment is above a flocking business and inquiring within hasn't been much help. Although sometimes it's annoying I ask in concern for my girlfriends and 2 dogs health.

    So is the applicator similar to a powder coat gun? Looking to do.my.dash and I have an old gun I don't use for powder any more was thinking of using it instead of the tube thing the kitchen comes with

    • @autoflockmotorsport7730
      @autoflockmotorsport7730  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can use a powdercoating gun but you have to be very careful with it, ideally flocking is done with no air assistance as this can cause the fibres to land un-uniformed, also the voltage is a lot lower on a powder coating machine.

    Hello sir, thank you for posting this video. I have a question if anybody can help me -- I have a mid-90s G20 van. That has some panels that I believed are flocked. They are worn, and I wish to re-surface them with new flock. Is there a technique to removing old flock?

    • @autoflockmotorsport7730
      @autoflockmotorsport7730  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Roberto, sorry for the late reply, the best way imo to remove is good old fashioned elbow grease in the form of hand sanding, A DA sander can be used but you must be careful to not damage the surface, all adhesive and flock must be removed to achieve a perfect finish when re-flocking. I hope this helps.

    Hi I am doing the interior of my car and I heard you say that it’s not a good idea to add the adhesive straight on to the plastic surface such as the dashboard, obviously the cleaning part is a must using a some kind of degreaser such as alcohol, You then mentioning that if you treat it with something the adhesive will stick better, can you give me some tips on what to use?

    • @autoflockmotorsport7730
      @autoflockmotorsport7730  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Marco, it all depends on the material you are applying the adhesive to, abs, polyprop ect which can usually be identified on the back side of the part in thr part number or material description. Key'ing up the surface and sometimes applying heat is a massive advantage. The chemicals I use are a bit of a secret but if you speak to your adhesive supplier they will be able to advise on a solution/chemical to assist you. I learn about the chemical properties from speaking to one of my composite resin suppliers, one major thing is to never ever use any type of dash cleaner which has silicone as this will just cause the adhesive to lift instantly

    • @autoflockmotorsport7730
      @autoflockmotorsport7730  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hello EP, well I have found that using the spray causes a lot of atomisation in the air which causes airborne flock to ball. This probably isn't a problem if you flock in an open space but as I use a sealed booth its not an option. I have also found that spray adhesives just don't have the same strength as brush on. You need to choose a slower curing adhesive which I know sounds obvious but try contacting your local resin/adhesive supplier and they will give you some options. When I first started I purchased the adhesive from the same place who supplies the flock. But then found it to be a generic epoxy resin and as you say the pot life was just too short for larger projects. There are plenty of epoxy resins on the market such as MAAS
      masepoxies.com/
      resins or SP115
