I personally would not recommend it at all, this is a coating so there is always a risk of delamination, so in a turbo configuration there could be a risk of the coating breaking off and finding its way into the turbo causing damage, maybe safe in a NA application but I would also be concerned about internal profile being rough and hindering gas speed. With the nature of the way this coating is applied and also thing it would be impossible to apply on longer headers, I dont know of any other method other than the wet paint application for internal exhaust coatings. It will certainly reduce engine bay temps so intake temp should be reduced, also as the internal heat is contained gas speed is increased

It looks to be soric, which is a core material. Gives the panel thickness, without having to do multiple layers of carbon. Which in turn gives rigidity to the part

correct it is soric, the main purpose is to create a gap between the carbon, it is this which gives you the strength

Its not the gelcoat that goes yellow but the actual epoxy resin, uv deteriorates the epoxy resin so if the top coat either lacquer or gelcoat is not uv protective then it will happen. I use a uv protective gelcoat so the clarity and integrity of the epoxy stays perfect. Hope this helps

Yes you can ;-), I still have the lcd screen which will be mounted into the new bulkhead trim/composite dash panel and there is a button on the pdm style control panel to switch the traction. Took a long while to figure out but it works fine, ive also kept the screen for faults ect. At some point I will go stand alone ecu but for now this will do mate.

@@meganjay30 thank you so much, should have a new vlog on the build real soon just waiting on the new custom clutch/flywheel/pressure plate to be finished so I can mate the new custom dog box to the new engine, then its straight to the rolling road to be run in. I have also been working with Airtec for a full carbon wide arch kit which can start to be fitted once the mechanical work is done. Sooo much has been going on in the back ground I cant wait to tell everyone

hello, i use a cheap ebay gun with the nozzle opened out to 1.5mm at 2 bar pf pressure, i leave the gel in the gun whilst the first layer flashes off then clean immediately after use with thinners. Hope this helps

The gelcoat is used to provide a protective layer to the epoxy infused carbon, if the customer wants to further top coat the panels they can with some prep work but this is just how I produce the parts. If the panels where going to be sprayed with paint then they could be produced without the gelcoat but as most of my customers leave them I have to ensure that they are protected from moisture ingress and uv damage. I use gelcoat as a primary coat on my molds, for both wet lay and infused carbon jobs. I find it allows me to use a spray fix to align all the layers in the stack, ensuring the weave is straight and clean. It also helps give a little extra protection from pinholes in wet lay up, more so than infused. Easy composites do use the gc50 clear gelcoat, just not as often because they resin infuse or prepreg stuff.

Its all down to personal preference, im just using the methods I have used since I started working with composites a long time ago. As for the gun i use a cheap eBay gun with nozzle opened out to 1.5mm. The needs to be cleaned immediately after use with thinners to stop any gel building up. Hope this helps
