This is why I have great respect for plectrum banjo players. They have to play not only the chords, but also the melodies, accompanying harmonies, and (sometimes) the bass line simultaneously at rapid speeds with only one hand, and mostly without arpeggiation. They’re also used in Dixieland Jazz, which I also have great respect for.
