No matter how many new bells and whistles they add to a g1 Optimus transformation, they're never gonna get rid of the classic "bend the elbows and swing the shoulders back and tuck into the chest" move. Cause to put it simply, they got it right the first time lol.

Nice review! I just bought this, and you're spot on. It looks like your "spare tire" under the trailer is black. Mine is silver, like the rest of the trailer. I also have an RC Optimus Prime, too!
Thanks so much for the size comparisons. I was trying to decide between this and an MP as my first true Optimus and having him scale with SS Dinobots, Jetfire, Blitzwing, Galvatron, Rodimus and others just helped me choose. Tysm. 😊❤
I absolutely love this figure. I am considering to buy a second one to keep in truck mode. I notice how accurate he looks to the Combiner Wars Optimus Prime animation. To me this figure great for its price and function. Great review TMan
Great review and a solid Optimus figure. I think this Prime is a 9 out of 10. It would be a 10 out of 10 for me if Optimus had better elbow bend, even with a single joint the elbow it should be able to get more range. I don't need the forearm to touch the shoulder but the ion blaster stock should be closer to the shoulder when Prime holds it with both hands. I wish the head was on a hinge joint in the back of the head for looking up, instead of the ball joint they used. Certain parts of the figure aren't painted due to some of plastics used, like the matrix chamber. I think they could have designed the Matrix chamber interior to be a separate piece that they could have glued or screwed or clipped in. The blue part that's painted red for the truck mode on the legs also could have been two separate colored pieces glued together to avoid potential paint chipping. I'm also not a fan of the hip skirts, I prefer the Earthrise Optimus and Siege Starscream hip design. When Earthrise Starscream is sitting down or doing kicks or raises a knee the skirt covers half of the thigh because of the hip skirts. Speaking of Starscream we need a new Seeker mold to go with 86 Optimus, Earthrise Optimus was already taller than the Seekers but it's too much now. I feel like they are going to redo Shockwave, Soundwave and the Seekers to better scale with the newer figures. I feel like that's why we haven’t gotten any other 86 Seekers from the Starscream mold because they are retiring it. Overall I'm excited for this Optimus figure. It's almost the perfect Optimus Prime. It comes with everything Optimus needs accessory wise, except maybe a jet pack that's compatible with Sideswipe but that's a bit much to ask of Hasbro. I'd love a Nemesis Prime of the 86 mold. I really hope they do a toy/comic accurate Optimus Prime repaint in the future with a white shield Autobot logo on the shoulder, silver stripe on the truck cab, painted shins and silver trailer with the blue and white stripes. Basically the ToysRUs MP10 colors, I think that would elevate the new Optimus mold. I've seen some amazing custom repaints of 86 Prime that give me hope for possible future releases.

(We had downsized MP1 with iGear Faith Leader & Takara's Hybrid Style THS02 G1 Convoy, along with a crappy "MP1 inspired" in Takara's Robot Masters G1 Convoy...and of course for downsized MP10, there's the KuBianBao MP10V, which even towers over SS86-31) I think that KuBianBao didn't bother going beyond the early prototype phase for a potential MP36V for the same reason...just too much goin' on in there. @DewlayLomo that goes without saying but I don't think there's too much of a real comparison between the two with one being regular retail and one being masterpiece. One had and unlimited budget while the other one had a strict budget so they were always going to do whatever it took to make the transformation and pretty much everything else more simplified while packing in as many fun details as they could
@@TMan978 I got one of those yolopark g1 versions, because seriously ❤️ the Optimus. Thoroughly impressed and satisfied. Compared to what hascrap puts out, threezero, flame toys, my goodness. For the $. And hascrap dares crap out shit like this. Is absolutely unsatisfactory. 👍
@rickytoddbotelho9555 those are two very different toys trying to accomplish to very different things. This figure is by no means comparable to a Happy meal toy or a shampoo bottle as people like to say. Probably weighs the same amount as that model kit (definitely if you and cleared all of his accessories and trailer) and it's going for a cartoon aesthetic which is super clean colors and not metallic.
Yeah it's funny 10 years ago, MP 10 was only $10 higher than this thing cost. They are definitely made out of different plastic and he's significantly smaller.
@philharrison2991 if that were possible, they would have done that. You would need a tremendous amount of extra steps to make cartoon optimus into a truck that looks like a truck unless you're cool with a big block with wheels but either way you would still have to have extra steps if you wanted to look like the cartoon.
You really don't sound like Joe Biden. You're using actual words, for a start. As for the figure, I'm very happy with the Siege and Earthrise Primes, and will be sticking with those. The Netflix version of the latter is fantastic, without the trailer. Obviously Prime is an eternal moneyspinner for Hasbro, but for the sake of a very slightly larger figure this seems barely worth the bother. The trailer is gagging for some stickers - they could have included some.
@@TMan978 No doubt you're right, but for me this is the reason why cartoon "accuracy" is so dumb. The cartoon is full of errors in every episode: characters changing colours; the wrong mouths speaking at the wrong times; everything switching scale with everything else; lack of detail; the works. As a kid I never followed the cartoon; I was interested in the toys and the comics. This is why I loved Alternators and Binaltech so much. Cartoon accuracy has been a bummer for a long time.

I think studio series is a more enjoyable transformation than mp44
@DewlayLomo that goes without saying but I don't think there's too much of a real comparison between the two with one being regular retail and one being masterpiece. One had and unlimited budget while the other one had a strict budget so they were always going to do whatever it took to make the transformation and pretty much everything else more simplified while packing in as many fun details as they could
A happy meal toy dolly compares to Galvatron 😂❤
Yeah, That's an accurate comparison. Pretty sure you liked your own comment.
@@TMan978 still won't get it. Still a cheap looking toy to me. Even though it ' transformering potential '❤️👍
Talk about nitpicking
@@nevrwuz everything isn't perfect no matter how much you think it is.
good figure, but 20% too expensive
Yeah it's funny 10 years ago, MP 10 was only $10 higher than this thing cost. They are definitely made out of different plastic and he's significantly smaller.
That looks like crap. Mp44 is the best
😂 sometimes I get really unhinged comments. For as much as MP44 cost, it damn sure better be better in every way.
I want this but with G1 Optimus Prime toy Transformation.
They have that already. It's called missing link
@@TMan978 no. Studio 86 prime with g1 transformation.
@philharrison2991 if that were possible, they would have done that. You would need a tremendous amount of extra steps to make cartoon optimus into a truck that looks like a truck unless you're cool with a big block with wheels but either way you would still have to have extra steps if you wanted to look like the cartoon.
It can be done. It doesn't need to be that many steps and panels.
@philharrison2991 it can but it won't look like the G1 cartoon
You really don't sound like Joe Biden. You're using actual words, for a start.
As for the figure, I'm very happy with the Siege and Earthrise Primes, and will be sticking with those. The Netflix version of the latter is fantastic, without the trailer. Obviously Prime is an eternal moneyspinner for Hasbro, but for the sake of a very slightly larger figure this seems barely worth the bother. The trailer is gagging for some stickers - they could have included some.
The theme here though is cartoon accuracy. I'm sure the trailer on the cartoon was just a little gray box.
✌️😖🦵👍Yo! I’m Still Hurting Over Here T! 😱🦵
Good luck. I don't think he's going to be in stores until October
