They include the Subaru Crosstrek with an overall score of 87/100. It gets a predicted reliability score of 99/100. That high predicted score is based on data from the 2024 model.
Consumer Reports says, the Crosstrek is one of the most researched cars on ConsumerReports.org. It delivers an excellent ride, good fuel economy, standard all-wheel drive, and enough ground clearance for mild off-roading all in a reasonably sized and priced package.
Toyota Prius and Prius Prime with an overall score of 80/100 for the Prius and 76/100 for the Prime. Prius gets a predicted reliability score of 84/100 and the Prime 62/100 which is based on data from 2021, 2022 and 2023 models.
Consumer Reports says, it’s always had a soft spot for the Prius. Over the past two decades it has offered practical transportation and impressive fuel economy. The Prius is now sportier offering more power and the addition of AWD. Consumer Reports feels it’s cooler looking and more engaging to drive than the outgoing model but the current model is much more difficult to see out of. Having two powertrain choices doubles its appeal.
Subaru Forester with an overall score of 88/100 and a predicted reliability score of 82/100.
It’s the last year before a redesign and it has made 11 appearances as a top pick with Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports says the winning formula includes a boxy design that maximizes interior space with great visibility. The vehicle has large doors making it easy to get in and out of the vehicle but also to load things in and out.
Mazda3 with an overall score of 78/100 and a predicted reliability score of 72/100.
Consumer Reports says the Mazda3 has always stood out as a sportier choice than compact rivals from Honda, Nissan and Toyota. Consumer Reports says it has an elegant and quiet interior with a refined ride.
Toyota Camry Hybrid with an overall score of 93/100 and a predicted reliability score of 87/100.
Consumer Reports says among mid-sized sedans, the Camry is distinguished by good fuel economy, a comfortable ride, intuitive controls and standard advanced safety systems.
Ford Maverick and Maverick Hybrid with an overall score of 78/100 for the gas model and 77/100 for the hybrid. Predicted reliability score for the gas model is 71/100 and the hybrid 60/100 which is based on data from 2022 and 2023 models.
Consumer Reports says it occupies an increasingly popular niche, it’s a small truck that can be bought on a budget. It has a civilized ride, easy access and good fuel economy. Consumer Reports says the Maverick outscores every pickup in its class other than the larger and more expensive Honda Ridgeline.
Toyota RAV4 Prime with an overall score of 89/100 and a predicted reliability score of 84/100.
Consumer Reports says this plug-in hybrid offers plenty of power, a comfortable ride and excellent fuel economy benefits. Consumer Reports thinks it’s a good option for buyers who are looking towards an EV but don’t want to worry about recharging the battery when on a long road trip.
Toyota Highlander Hybrid with an overall score of 85/100 and a predicted reliability score of 75/100.
Consumer Reports says the Highlander is a comfortable midsized SUV with great fuel economy, a compliant ride, accommodating seats, thoughtful cabin conveniences, abundant active safety features and commendable predicted reliability.
BMW X5 and X5 PHEV with an overall score of 92/100 for the gas model and 88/100 for the plug-in hybrid. The gas model gets a predicted reliability score of 82/100 and the PHEV 53/100, it doesn’t fair as well but it gets an overall score of 98/100 on the road test so it really brought up the overall score.
Consumer Reports says traveling in the X5 is a luxury experience with a quiet cabin. It has leather and wood, finished with cushioned surfaces and comfortable seats. The balanced suspension provides a supple ride and composed handling that holds its own on curvy roads. Consumer Reports says the X5 sets a high standard with its turbo inline-six in the gas model or plug-in hybrid.
Model Y with an overall score of 72/100 and a predicted reliability score of 41/100 which is based on data from 2021, 2022 and 2023 models. It had a high road test score of 88/100 bringing up its overall score.
Consumer Report says the Model Y is essentially an SUV version of the Model 3 sharing key underpinnings, equipment and features.

For over 30 years I have not purchased a vehicle without it being on Consumer Reports recommended list. Does not have to be their top choice, but has to be on their recommended list. Their recommendations have been quite accurate.
I've been reading Consumer Reports for decades, but sometimes, their recommendations seem out of touch with reality. For example, Toyota and Honda are the most reliable vehicles over time, and mechanics would agree with that. BMWs are great cars when they're new, but as they age and are no longer under warranty, they are very expensive to own. The same applies to Volkswagen and Audi. Consumer Reports also loves Tesla and gives them high road test ratings, but their build quality is far below what it should be for how much they cost. As for Subaru, they are great values, but they've cut some corners in recent years, and their turbo engines have long-term durability issues. I would take CRs recommendations with a grain of salt. If several sources, including this awesome channel, recommend a car, then I would feel more confident.
Thank you! I tend to agree with your comments about Consumer Reports. Seeing a BMW on this top-10 list is shocking and undermines CR's credibility, in my view. Cars today are just WAY too expensive to be buying one with a poor reliability record. I'm looking primarily at Toyota and Honda (maybe Subaru or Mazda) for any future vehicle purchases - new or used!

"CR gathers auto reliability data through online questionnaires sent to our members. We ask about any problems members may have had in the previous 12 months with 20 aspects of their vehicles, including the engine, transmission, EV battery, and EV charging, as well as issues with body hardware, and paint and trim. Within each of these 20 potential trouble areas, respondents can give feedback on more specific issues that cause a problem, helping us to understand where a vehicle might have experienced troubles. We use these insights to predict the likelihood of the same or similar models experiencing them.
We weigh the severity of each type of problem to create a predicted reliability score for each vehicle, from 1 to 100. (That score is then combined with data collected from our track testing, as well as our owner satisfaction survey results and safety data, to calculate each test vehicle’s Overall Score.) To be considered for this list, we must have at least two model years of data in calculating the predicted reliability score.
Based on that analysis, these models are the most reliable overall from our survey, presented in rank order starting with the best performer."
I would love to see a detailed look on build quality and see how the manufacturers fare. Because Tesla is very hit and miss. I hear excuses of certain factories. But in the end a car or truck should not be leaving the factory if it's got glaring issues. There's no way a vehicle should leave the factory if there's leaks from rain into the trunk/tail lights. Especially when you're paying good money for those vehicles. Honestly I'd trust Consumer Reports a lot more than JD Power.
I can tell you have ZERO knowledge about BMWs. You are just parroting information and you have never owned one. I own BMWs and I keep them long after the warranty is over. I also own a current generation X5 (Pre-fecelift). It is now almost five years old and it been ultra reliable. It is quite and the are NO internal rattles or squeaks. My other car is a 13 year old BMW with 180K and it has been nearly trouble free aside from the regular maintenance.
@@AgonxOC Fact is that since the mid 2000s BMW reliability has been in the crapper, and in the past decade has been atrocious to say the least. When they do need repairs they cost you a fortune! Those are facts.
Thanks for another great video. I really like the list by consumer reports. I have a 2023 Model Y. It has been really good albeit only 7 months of driving. I agree the suspension is very tight. My daughters 2013 Prius is still going strong. She still gets incredible gas mileage. Really happy the Prius was mentioned. Gas is low right now and has no place to go but up. So I was very happy to see so many hybrids on the list. While they aren't as good for the environment as my Model Y and my son's Model 3 - it is absolutely a step in the right direction. Our next vehicle will probably be hybrid. A very large SUV - like the TX with a hybrid engine. But that won't be until next year and hoping for increased hybrid choices. Over the years, I have owned new Dodge, Toyota, VW, BMW, Audi, Jeep, Subaru, Mazda (probably forget a few in there somewhere) and I have NEVER been contacted for follow up by ANY of the manufacturers or any 3rd party ranking service. One of the things that always bothered me is you know after driving a car for 6 months or so you find little quirks about cars that could be addressed by manufacturers to make their cars or their driving experience a little better and again I've never been asked. Seems like companies are missing out on that information.
I think this is why I stopped buying American cars. At least with the Japanese warranties they fixed problems when the warranty numbers went up. With the American designed cars my experience was the dealers avoided warranty repairs as much as they could. Problems that should have been fixed remained years after the model change was introduced.

Just upgraded to a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek from a 2009 PT Cruiser ( mostly trouble free). Had a pre sale inspection done by our mechanic and his opinion as well as reviews such as yours sold us on the vehicle. So far we are impressed with mpg. Still learning all gadgets. Thanks for reviews and a few laughs

Crosstrek and Forester - Objectively should be reliable models because there isn't anything too radically new about it. Crosstrek chassis is a an evolution of the previous generation, engine is carry-over from previous gen and infotainment is standardized across other models like the Outback. This is a good thing, want you don't want are models where everything is brand new and components are unique and low volume. This was an under-rated the secret to Japanese reliability from the 90's through mid 2000's... share parts across lots of models, iterate and have some continuity between generations.

I didn’t buy my Forester or Crosstrek because of the looks. That being said, I’m glad I waited for the ‘24 Crosstrek as I like the subtle changes. They are both extremely reliable and the Subaru owners that I know love their vehicles.
I should have purchased the Forester instead of the Outback. We hated the Outback and it's super slow tech. Push a button and wait a day or two for it to react..
Have a 24 Crosstrek convenience with 2.0 liter engine.....love it, the 2.0 is peppy never mind what they say,I’ve had an Outback,and a Forester premium
both with the 2.5 liter a little thirstier then 2.0, yes I like Subaru’s I’ve had three, this basic convenience is fun and practical,and cheap. Go for it,it has everything you need no frills and it has key ignition comes with eye sight.......it’s a gem.
I remember Consumer Reports blew it on the 2012 Honda Civic which they took off of their recommended list from previous years. Little, if anything, had changed from prior years' models. I had one and put 244,000 miles on it before trading it in on a new car, never had an issue with it - great car, great mileage. One result was that they sold a lot of their magazines because of that.

People always overlooked GM cars from that era...Chevy Cobalt/Saturn ION, etc. Those cars were done so well that you still see them (especially the ION) on the road all the time from 2003-2009!
Just proves that the brands that do not stray from the customer base they target always win! My Girlfriend has had four Subaru vehicles and one repair in 13 years! A drunk driver recently ran a red light in downtown Houston, hitting her daughter right in driver door and she got a bruise on her leg, the car was totaled. The other fact is look who builds these high-quality brands, The Japanese dominate. Great show as always!!

We purchased a Forester Touring in March ‘21. It is a beautiful smaller SUV but is perfect for us. We have owned a number of new cars over the years but the fit and finish of the Forester was the best of any brand (mostly GM, VW models). Visibility is great, the design maximizes space, it fits my 6’4” frame very well and we love the saddle leather interior. I’m looking at upgrading my VW Jetta sedan (2014 model) with the Crosstrek. My daughter and granddaughter both own Crosstrek and have had great luck with them. I appreciate that Subaru isn’t into the trendy design fads that sacrifice functionality and comfort for the latest trendy styles.

Consumer Reports compiled a report of best and worst brands for 2024 based on an overall score which includes road tests, reliability, safety and satisfaction. Here's their Top 10 out of 34 brands.#1 BMW, #2 Subaru, #3 Porsche, #4 Honda, #5 Lexus, #6 MINI, #7 Kia, #8 Mazda, #9 Toyota # 10 Hyundai.
I can relate - my research process was also long, and then there was a 7 month wait between placing my order and actually receiving the Forester I decided on. (The long wait might have been a dealer issue, and I would not go with that dealer again.) Anyhow, the Forester is a great choice.
Are you looking to get a 2025 Forester or an outgoing 2024 one? I am waiting for the new 2025 to come out now in springtime to test drive. I was between the new Crosstrek and the outgoing Forester and was leaning towards the Forester when they revealed the new redesigned Forester at the end of the last year.
I just took delivery of my new 2024 Forester a few days ago. While I like the extra umph and fuel economy of a hybrid for stop and go driving, they are all so much more expensive. What some call mediocre power is powerful enough for my driving needs. And this is a very pleasurable driving experience with great visibility. We were even able to get it in the dark green that makes the forester look so outdoorsy and one with nature.

It’s nice that you covered consumer reports most reliable. I always take a look at CR when purchasing bigger items…cars, snowblowers, appliances, etc. Not the final word but I do appreciate the predicted reliability ratings as well. I’d like to see auto journalists do some shows on some used cars looking at the long term reliability. Hint, hint. 😉
Gas models had such a head start on getting
things right. I see so many obstacles ahead for
pure EVs. Charging infrastructure does not
exist evenly among regions. It feels much like
mass transit in that some places do it well and
some poorly. Hybrid technologies should be
the crawling before walking. As a rule, if you chase
2 rabbits, you catch none. Charging stations need
to be routine for EVs to thrive and that's hardly
the case. I curiously await the future 🤔
Not much different than when the Model T was around. It will be interesting to see if there's new battery chemistries that improve range, and charging speeds. And yes the infrastructure needs to improve.
Except EVs were invented before gas cars in the late 1800s. You’d think they would have caught on more by now than they have 😂

I agree. I have a hard time buying into the EV technology with ALL things considered. It appears to me that it is the antithesis of what it is promoted to be. I want a reliable vehicle with the biggest gas tank possible for my road trips.
I always take CR recommendations with a grain of salt. I've found many owners of new vehicles are less than honest or at least, reluctant to come forward with short-comings, issues, etc. on the expensive purchase they just made. Same with appliances. CR has often rated LG appliances very high...talk to to a appliance repair person and they will quickly let you know what they think about LG. Keep up the great work!!
This is particularly true for premium brands. On CR and JD Power, you'll get an outlier luxury brand at the top, and you have wonder if it's because the people who buy those things are invested into "buying the best" so of course they are gongi to self-report being happy.
100 % correct. Consumers do not want to admit they made a mistake.
The best video reviews are from Motormouth! We have two PHEVs, a Porsche Panamera 4S e-hybrid and a ‘24 BMW X5 50e. Both are fabulous - agree completely with CR’s conclusion on the BMW. In the U.S., given the limited actual range of EVs, especially in cold weather, and the very inadequate charging infrastructure here for long trips, PHEVs are at present the best choice.
I like the Subaru Cross trek myself! Might buy one this summer! I'm also looking at the new Chevy Trax as well!!!
We purchased the 2023 BMW X5 40i. Wonderful vehicle, shouldn’t have had to pay for leather upgrade and a decent stereo system. Other than that, I couldn’t be happier. Four year /50k warranty, hopefully we won’t regret the purchase down the line. Love your reviews. Retired in Alabama……

I just bought a MY. The suspension has been improved now. I really love the car. Same great driving skills as the M3 with a lot of space.

I live in vancouver, would you guys recommend a bmw 230i xdrive? I keep cars long term, so i want something good on gas and reliable, and apparently, the 230i is a great car compared to other bmw. Or maybe just go for the new camry 🤷♂️

No screen touching necessary while driving. All important driving functions are on the steering wheel. All the rest are voice controlled.

Great source for product information
CR is a great starting point for a shopper. Subarus are great in the northern climates for their nice awd, good price points, visibility and ground clearance, and you can get most of them soon. The long waits for Toyota hybrids and their price premiums are not worth it unless you’re driving many miles a year. We recently traded our 2001 Forester for a 2023 Outback for road trips and camping. When I rent a car in a warm climate I try to get a Kia Soul.

The reliability has a strong correlation with keeping the same gasoline engine and making minimum changes and only fixing issues over the years. Good for reliability, but not radical reduction in emission. That’s the main reason Mazda, Subaru, Honda do not have any EV or PHEV ( true hybrid). We know the reputation of Subaru and Toyota EVs.
My wife drives a 2024 Subaru onyx …she loves it …even the infotainment screen.
I’ve go the 2024 Subaru Forester Wilderness… and it’s a keeper…until the hybrid arrives.
Do you notice any differences in the fit and finish or quality between the two vehicles? I am torn because I prefer a Japan-made vehicle but I like the Wilderness trim.
@@flat6gts my wilderness was made in Japan according to the vin and so was the onyx..fit and finish was fine. I believe some of the Crosstreks are being built in the USA

Consumer Report? I remember them sabotaging a crash test by starting a fire - caught in the act using slow motion. For reliability, i'd rather listen to mechanics than them.
Problem is mechanics can be very biased as well. Getting info from a lot of souces is probably your best bet.
Just like 60 Minutes staging the Audi unintended acceleration fiasco decades ago…I usually do the opposite of what the media says to do, and I’ve thrived.

I have a subscription to CR. I take their tests with a grain of salt, so to speak. I cannot figure out why people spend a large amount of money on something that generally has problems. But, people can do what they want with their money. Most people have had to work hard for their money. Research is good for decision making. Zack and Andrea are showing good practical research when they write their reviews. They are honest when they report their subjective findings. One recent example was Andrea and her decision to buy the Miata or CX-5. Do you think that would be a good choice in Calgary this weekend? . . . No, but they live in Vancouver. 😊
CX 5.....Snug....no wiggle room for average American driver...Mazda eat brakes. I have had 3, and I am sticking with Toyota.
You might want to drive a newer (2023-2024) Model Y since the ride has improved significantly. It is still firm but not as jarring as earlier models.
What a truly dour existence one would live buying what Consumer reports suggests.
The predicted reliability figures don’t seem to align with real world experiences. Subaru at 99 and RAV4 prime at 82. Doesn’t pass the smell test.

Our 2 year old Model Y has given us ZERO problems and ZERO servicing. We just plug it in when it gets low and drive fast, silently, and don’t spew noxious fumes.
Consumers reports I always take what they say with a grain of salt
They buy or rent their test cars and get their reliability data from their readers. Their testing time is much longer than most car reviewers and the cars are rotated with other staff for other points of view.
Agree 100%. Ever see the folks who do these ratings? I seriously doubt any of them could/have even changed out a flat tire

I agree. I saw their last livestream and it was riddled with subjective opinion not objective facts.

CR's scores seem very anecdotal from their customers.
And what if their readers don't own very many of a particular model?
Is the result from such few sample base reliable?
The feedback on Reliability scores is extracted from CR's Annual Surveys which covers different categories and is based on feedback from ~ 330,000 Subscribers. I suspect many CR readers and especially subscribers are college educated with high expectations from the vehicles they buy. Your 2nd point is specifically addressed in the Annual Reliability Report that excludes results when the sample size is too small to be statistically accurate.

I am always cautious when reading CR and JDP reliability/dependability rankings. In these reports, the demographic of buyers of each brand are never factored in or even revealed. I am sure a typical economy car buyer views his/her investment in a car very differently from that of a luxury brand car buyer and hence may maintain their cars quite differently. As you, Zack and Andrea often say, you have heard from owners of "unreliable brands" who swear by their vehicles. I believe vehicle owners and ownership also have a big role to play in a vehicle's (brand's) overall reliability. If a certain brand tends to lease their vehicles more than other brands whose owners tend to buy their vehicle outright, I think this would affect the data coming out from these brands. My two cents worth.

I have no issue with how CR reviews vehicles but their auto survey is the single biggest draw they use to market subscriptions and they are, after all, in the business of selling subscriptions. I subscribe when I'm appliance shopping and I do not ignore CR's car advice - I just don't religiously follow their survey. Life's too short and I don't view cars the same way I view appliances.
Also, CR says it has 7M subscribers. Based on the average North American household's fleet of 2 vehicles per hhld, their database of 300k vehicles in their survey means a 2% response rate - which is extremely low for this type of survey (5-30% is considered acceptable with results typically being more reliable at higher response rates). At 2%, CR's response rate is essentially below a good survey's margin of error.
Further - since there are approximately 500 models out there and with the bulk of CR's subscribers expected to favor its recommendations (Toyota/Lexus), the number of survey responses for several models rapidly becomes incredibly small when you're dealing with only 300k vehicles and a large number of years. A small sample size can be okay if the collection methods are robust but CR's methodology is awful and that further compounds the feeble response rate.
For all its warts (I hate their awards), JDP has far superior survey methodology. If they didn't, they would have been out of business years ago - automakers pay JDP big money for their in-depth reports (which you and I will never see).

Hybrids I would just stick to Toyota for now, they have been building them for decade+. Hybrids are the most complex = less reliable.
Not surprised Model Y got 41 (low) reliability. Tesla tends to finish at bottom or near bottom on reliability.
The hybrid Highlander is so popular that the wait is 6-12 months if ordered.

I'm mostly in the disagree camp. Knowing the likelihood that a new vehicle will need warranty repairs is somewhat helpful. However, I think many would like to know how much it will cost for insurance, maintenance and repairs over say 5, 7 and 10 years. Having owned a variety of higher-end Euro vehicles, I have serious doubts I will ever own one again. I sometimes wondered if the BMW dealer where I used to live had a scheme whereby the minimum outside of warranty charge was $1000. (US).

😂😂😂😂. When I was young and just starting in my career I really wanted a luxury car and my dad talked me out of it. He told me the tires start at 300-400 a piece, 200 plus oil changes and any repair under 1k was a deal. I bought a Civic that I'm still rolling with today. Best advice I ever got.

Insurance for my BMW, full coverage, is about $900 a year. After five years with this BMW, the only costs have been $100 for an oil change and $900 for a set of tires. I did have one small warranty issue, a defective turn signal, which was quickly repaired by the BMW dealer.
My wife's Audi is on its 8th year. Total costs $300 for a software update, $120 for an oil change, and a set of tires. Insurance is also about $900 a year.
On the flip side, my SIL's Toyota Tacoma is often in the shop for some reason or another. My daughter's 2019 Hyundai goes through a quart of oil every week or so. My sisters Nissan is, well, a Nissan.

Consumer Reports is the Gold Standard, It is independent, the most in depth resource , coupled with owners detailed feedback. They purchase vehicles outright, put them through a long lists of tests by multiple testers. Its not perfect, like anything, but still the Go To for most , myself included

The score of 99 on the Crosstrek seems a bit high, but it's still a solid option in the segment (so I don't disagree with them recommending it). Overall, can't really disagree with any of the vehicles on the list or what they say about them. Toyota is coming out like a genius for going hybrid everything several years ago and you can see it is paying off in spades.
@@Brian_Eugene_Lee Yea, I also like the CVT in our Forester Wilderness and the eCVT in our Venza Hybrid. I personally like the smoothness of the drive in a CVT vehicle opposed to a conventional automatic. I get that it isn't engaging, but if I care about that, I'll buy a 911.

I look at CR, but their scoring system seems arbitrary to me. They value minor nuisance issues too much. It’s important to look at the breakdown. And even then…sometimes I have to wonder.
Subaru are great for 60,000 miles , then wheel bearing, oil consumption and blown head gasket. Also CVT issues after 100,000 miles
Head gaskets haven’t been problems for years.
Crosstrek is the same vehicle for years so historical data for sure is playing into that score

Personally, I am a bit disappointed in this list. I considered several of these vehicles. I researched them. I looked at known issues. I considered long-term reliability and cost-of-maintenance. I considered how "usable" (e.g., mileage, infotainment, safety, etc.) they were for daily driving and trips.
Subaru: I have been disappointed by Subaru over the last few years; and, I feel that they are (pardon the pun) driving in the wrong direction. A family member purchased a Subaru Forester; so, we had considerable experience with it. It felt so...ho hum...and had the glaring concerns about interior quality along with CVT and stop-go issues. We felt the same way about the Crosstrek (which I initially really liked). However, the new infotainment system was a step in the wrong direction AND I disliked the noise and CVT. Although I really like the look of the Crosstrek (and not the Forester) and Subaru's AWD systems, I opted against a Subaru purchase.
Ford: With a few model exceptions, Ford is at a place where I feel that Subaru is heading in a few years. It's "Quality is Job #1" mantra just doesn't fit anymore. I had a few Ford vehicles (a truck, Explorer and Escape). They were GREAT vehicles. However, the newer Fords are following a design philosophy where they are cheaper in areas that will lower the cost of manufacturing, feel perfectly fine for a few years but then require multiple "small" repairs (like some of the luxury brands in America do -- and I am looking at you, BMW/Mercedes). I was very interested in the new Maverick. However, all of the Ford dealerships in the Silicon Valley/San Francisco Bay Area (again, pardon the pun) jacked up their prices well above MSRP. In fact, some were a shocking $10-15K above MSRP. In addition, I don't trust Ford service centers anymore. They are almost as bad as third party mechanics that "find" things wrong that aren't really wrong and make costly suggestions. Apart from the real Bronco (and not the Bronco Sport), trucks or Maverick, I'm not really interested.
BMW/Tesla: I like both...until the warranty expires. To quote the late Stan Lee: "'Nuff said."
Toyota: You can't really go wrong with Toyota's reliability. They truly earned that reputation. They have built themselves into a brand that deserves the esteem that auto enthusiasts give them. Yes, most of their models are a bit...boring. However, you probably won't mind "boring" when you consider resale value and longevity. The only reason that we didn't go with a new Toyota was that they didn't have models and trims available. When they did get a model in (here in the Silicon Valley), they often only had the highest trims AND vehicles with expensive options/add-ons and even third-party add-ons (like ceramic coatings) added at a very high cost. Despite signs that boasted that their vehicles are not "above MSRP," almost all of them were, indeed, above MSRP due to a $3-5K ceramic coating added, third party floor liners, etc. This was on top of the fact that the Silicon Valley hasn't been getting many lower-to-mid trims.
Mazda: They were the surprise for me. I owned a couple of Mazda vehicles as a teenager and college student. They were good vehicles -- but not really standouts. They were simply the Japanese equivalent of Ford (but back when Ford had better quality). The NEW Mazda vehicles were almost a shock (in a good way). Their quality is seen and felt. All of my research pointed out to vehicle quality that now approaches Toyota in terms of design, engineering and manufacturing. However, they aren't quite so "boring" as Toyota. So, of all of the vehicles on this list, Mazda felt like a top value. I'm just surprised that other Mazda models -- like the CX-5, CX-50, CX-30 and even the CX-70/90 aren't on this list. So, I bought a new Mazda vehicle some months ago. Going in, I felt no loyalty to Mazda. However, I really hope that Mazda keeps this type of quality in their vehicles. If so, they are going to FINALLY become a mover and shaker in the auto industry.
Drove a new Tesla model 3 highland at the Toronto international auto show. Ride is much much more compliant and the new model y will be to.
Yes, that's what I have been hearing from viewers. Our friends own a Model 3, it's a few years old, they drove us home last night from dinner and it has a firmer suspension for sure. They have a Cyber Truck on order too.
Traded my 2019 M3 for a Forester. Uncomfortable car and I needed something bigger. Very happy with the Forester Sport…..I just miss the acceleration. 😂

Crosstrek owner mentioned his dislikes and the one that stuck with me is that Subaru doesn't put a seal around the hood which causes the engine compartment to bet filthy fast. If true, how cheap can Subaru get?

Our 2 year old Model Y has given us ZERO problems and ZERO servicing. We just plug it in when it gets low and drive fast, silently, and don’t spew noxious fumes.

Self presenting door handles had failing micro swiches. Gull wing doors were a headache.
These were all handled under warranty, most in the owner's driveway with Tesla's mobile repair fleet. Even the motor is revmovable with just four bolts.
Through all this Tesla has the lowest warrant claims in the industry. Warranty Week July 18, 2019.

Tesla has no scheduled service intervals, a goal of no service and longer design life-times than ICE vehicles. Continuous improvements are made on a daily basis and computer homologated and incorporated into production. The new Model 3 has over 50% new components!

Tesla gets criticized for the huge screen but Subaru also has a huge screen. Subaru's screen is lower so you look down to touch the screen . Tesla also has a better screen that goes grayscale at night. Huge screens are just plain dangerous regardless of the Subbie fanfare. Other than that the Subaru score is legit.
Subaru's screen is the worst of the worst. Their tech is so subpar from most other manufacturers. I love the Forester greenhouse and vision looking out, but not the Outback.

No mention of the VW ID4? It’s an excellent EV and, based on my experience, is more reliable and less expensive than the Tesla. It is slower and has less range but it’s a nice driver with excellent handling, despite its mass. Very little body roll on turns. PS….Andrea ❤
Frankly it frustrates the h*ll out of me to have so many vehicles you can’t actually get on here. Toyota laughed me out of the dealership for asking to wait list a hybrid suv.

EV's don't need manual transmissions, and if you put one in you are making it operate *much* worse. What you are asking for is basically asking for a gasoline car with a better buggy whip. It might be the best buggy whip ever, but it's entirely useless to the operation of a gasoline car.
