Assassins Creed is becoming more of an RPG than Fallout. These are crazy times.

Choosing between male and female doesn't make this game an rpg, it's still an action linear story game like every other ac game, witcher had choices, choices in dialogue, the way you play the game, multiple story endings based on previous choices, I highly doubt an AC game made in 2 years can achieve what CD Projekt Red did in 8 years for the witcher, and will now do again for Cyberpunk2077, which is also 8 years in the making thus far, or even Red Dead Redemption 2 for that matter

Would've been great if you spent more time actually comparing them side by side rather than alternating between them as you moved the dialogue forward. You know, so we can more accurately compare what's different, what's the same, what's better and what's worse between the two characters.
Totally agree, and it also feels like Alexios had more dialogue in this video than Kassandra. Just started playing and I'm trying to feel out the two actors. From this video though I'm starting to think I wanna play as Kassandra. Which is different since I always play as a guy if given the choice. Feel like the female actor is better because she has more experience as a voice actor for games than the other guy. Sorry can't remember actors names.

If this is set before origins, then theres no way it is related to the assasins, So im guessing that theres a twist in the game and this is the origns of the templars (order of the ancients), and the spear has a fragment of the apple
yeah people cry about this not being assassin's creed anymore, well.. this might be the start of the assassin's creed conflict. But people will always cry and cant enjoy an actual unique location such as ancient Greece. They will keep buying nba fifa and random shooters every year though no problem.

ThatPixelGuy I havent played origins, but this takes place around 400 years BC, that is about 100+ years after leonidas' death. From what i heard this is before Origins though

It would have been cooler if they both existed in the world. Like if you didn't play one the other would be your sibling. Wouldn't even need to be a playable character as I know some didn't like that in Syndicate, but like an NPC or something.
*Wright* But it really does? Kassandra's voice isn't soft, it's quiet gruff for a woman. She sounds more friendly because the voice actor made her charismatic and charming than the male voice actor did. He sounds more straight to the point and brash. That is a difference in personality. How someone says something is just as important as what they say.
Sage Personality isn't the type of voice, it's the way to be, and in this game not because you can take choices will be different, they are practically the same person.
Sage Yeah, what you are referring to with Inflection and voice pitch is nothing more than identifying a different speaking pattern. There is no difference in emotion. There is no difference in response. The difference you're hearing, as stated already, is due to the connotations you're attaching to two different types of voice.

The female version has much more expression in her face. Seems it was more so built for her. Not a complaint, just an observation, still gonna play tf out of it cause it looks pretty good

Michael, the doesn't make Alexios canon. These things are made by marketing teams and we all know that they prefer to use men, because they still believe it is affecting sales. Kassandra is going to be used in all outside media like books or comics, making her at least canon for the overall AC universe. But of course the devs would likely argue that every player is going to create their own canon, as they always do with RPGs.
The voice actress for Kassandra sounds so much better! The accent sounds more greek, there's more "life" in her voice and the emphasis on important words and phrases is way better. Overall just a superior performance! Very noticeable in my opinion.

I mean the overall character is trying to be gruff and tough so in some cases it's going to sound a bit stoic at times.
But yeah, overall I can agree the female is better voiced.

Different teams. This is the same team that did Syndicate, which also gave you the option to play as a woman.

Nice that she has realistic armor
Last time i checked, there were not female musculata armors in the spartan army, so i dont know how can that be realistic.

He means realistic armor in how actual armor would be on a womans body. There's only few rare examples from real life history to pull from and they all came from Europe.

this game looks so pretty and i like the idea of "customizing" your experience more. the fact that you can chose your answers too makes me excited. it's really different for ac, but it looks good.

The concept and the idea is not bad. This is the best way to explore both main characters rather than what Syndicate did for example.

Kassandra has a lovely Greek accent, very authentic! I gotta say, I' surprised at how ppl say they look or sound Mexica/Latin, because ethnically, Greek people look very similar w/ dark hair, tan skin and rounder features than Northern Europeans.
Those are modern Turkic Greeks. The ancient Greeks were less dark than modern Greeks and many bleached their hair to look even lighter. Many of their God's and Goddesses are also depicted with blonde hair and blue eyes. And when you look at Greek statues you will not find the rounder Turkic features, but Indo-European features.

@@kostas8537 I also get that colour when I work in the sun all day every day. The women had the same genes as the men, so the men being darker just means they spent more time in the sun.

When devs are trying to add some female representation, but judging from the comments 90% of the male audience are going to play as Kassandra xD
They need to polish the face animations in dialogues a bit though. That's my only complain at this point.

I'm glad that there's a choice. I think this is definitely the way going forward, having one male or one female protagonist would alienate some people, and having both is kinda clunky (Syndicate)
I can see having a choice to be either male or female the norm going forward. And... I kinda like it.
The interesting thing, though, is that this is actually a historically accurate thing. Spartan women in Ancient Greece had far more freedom than other women in other Greek states, so the idea of a Spartan woman being playable in this game isn't actually wrong. The Spartans were a fascinating people.

Armando Otero Yeah that never happened. I'm all for telling about badass women in history but no spartan women ever drove off an invading army or saved Sparta in battle. Or well, even really fought in any battle. Having a female spartan mercenary should be a big deal, not be glossed over.
Kassandra has more character and she's very charming. On top of that she's the canon character. Alexios oozes debonaire suave but Kassandra is gentle yet deadly, a rarer character than the male counterpart.
The editing is phenomenal, this shows how important production is.
Listen, being greek, I find this awesome. But I think you could have found voice actors with actual greek accents instead of fake ones. I would almost have preferred you used actors with english and irish accents like most productions do instead of shitty fake greek accents.

We don't have this problem with tje french version, I don't know what the english version keep trying to put " realistic accent', as you say they could just use english accent, simple.

+Cinnamon Coffin Well, for one, genetic memory accessible by the Animus would require a descendant, and two girls do not a baby make. I’m not sure they could get it from a body, either, considering that this takes place hundreds of years before Origins, and the Ancient Greeks were not as good at preserving the body as the Egyptians. Furthermore, cremation was a common practice, especially in Athens.
Megalodon Well maybe they are moving away from the whole Animus thing. Seems like even Ubisoft is tired of it! :p Besides, "difficult" doesn't mean impossible, and Abstergo in particular is pretty stubborn when it comes to finding DNA of assassins and templars-related events!
Also, I've read it's confirmed that LGBT romances will be a thing (honestly, did they hire the best BioWare writers for this game or something? :D ), so, yeah, my Kassandra will totally get it on with the ladies! :p Not sure which one yet though, I'll have to wait and see who'll be available for her!
Wow, that detail! The facial expressions are different when reacting to the thrown knife, Alexios is all matter-of-fact stating the obvious, whilst Kassandra is clearly unimpressed.
I like to play as a male more, but the female seems to fit the storyline better. In stealth I would prefer the female, but in hard combat I want to be more like a spartan as in the film 300 wich would look weird as a woman

@@carlzune6626 Wonder Woman is entirely fantasy, while 300 is loosely based on an actual event It's more accurately a comic book adaption, which it is almost 1 to 1 with the comic.

Blaz Perme Revisionist history you mean. Boys were being taken to boot camp from a young age, there is no mentioning of girls being trained in the spartan army. Sure they had their own exercise regimen, such as throwing javelins and wrestling, but nothing to the extent of sword training.

Kassandra seems to have a lot more facial animations that make her look more human.
Kassandra has the voice and verbology, while Alexios has the movements and expressions. Couldn't just roll all of that into one superb character, could they?

You can play the full game with one and than the other it makes replayability interesting
+Sam True, but what’s the difference? It sounds like only the gender is different. With Syndicate, each character had their own personality and skills. With this it just looks like it will be the same experience regardless of who you pick.
Im playing Syndicate right now. I usually do certain missions with Evie and certain missions with Jacob.
It's a shame that you can't switch between them, because now I will never know who to pick... they both look so beautiful :D I am really excited for the game :3

Eh, is it just me or do the character's expressions seem even more lifeless than any of the Ezio entries years ago? I mean, obviously 90% of the assassins themselves are pretty poorly written, but these especially feel like husks.
True, but then again there hasn't really been any particularly charismatic protagonists in any game in the series since Ezio.
I think they've used some automatic facial animation software. From what I know, they rarely produce good results by themselves but are designed to reduce the work load of the animators. They may touch up the animations before launch. Mass effect Andromeda used a similar process but ran out of time so only some of the main scenes were worked on.
I think it's the fault of having a yearly release. Ubisoft should probably back down a bit and take their time to program additional details.
i haven't seen much of the other games, but I like Kassandra's expressions- especially in the last scene, when after the knife gets thrown she rises her eyebrows just a bit and speaks with this disappointment in her voice, haha. Personally i prefer these subtleties, they feel more natural.

Now *that's* how you correctly do genderswaps. I'm tired of the women who are supposed to be warriors wearing barely any armor just for the sake of making them sexy for no reason. Good job Assassin's Creed, I'll give you that.
Well, Assassin's Creed is a fantasy series but HEAVILY based on historical facts, so it would just be ridiculous to use "sexy armour"

What part of the game is this video from? I don't remember experiencing Alexios getting sea sick. Did I miss something?
Eric Jones the cutscene seems to take place when you land on Mykonos island. You can arrive in Mykonos anytime you want, really; it’s not attached to any main mission besides killing all the cultists (I think, I don’t remember anymore). However, I’ve played this mission & I think they cut it because I didn’t see this cutscene either. It might’ve been for demo/promotional purposes since it was E3.
It's about time, in this day in age, it doesn't make sense to make the main character a male or female, it should always be the choice of the player. Personally I prefer playing as a male, because I can think of it more as myself, but the option should always be there

This is Assasin's Creed. We're suposed to be replaying history trough the memories of dead people, not making it up in starter menu. That's Fallout.
That's because some game stories have well defined characters needed to match the story.

Considering everyone we play as was forgotten by history, it makes sense that we can decide how they look & act, there's no historical evidence/AC canon that can say what we do with the character is inaccurate.
That depends. Some games are built around that, but for others it simply doesn't work. Not every game should have a generic/replaceable protagonist, because that's what he/she is when you can replace him/her with another person.
Alexio for me. I like the way he says Barnabas.
Solid acting from both sides, fantastic :D. I can believe that dialogue options have actually made their way into the game, I didnt think the series could evolve itself so much. Plus I like that the Ezio theme is back in it's own way again, it's certainly established itself now :)

For anyone instrested, the name of the actress playing Kassandra is Melissanthi Mahut. She is Greek and a graduate of the National Theatre of Greece Drama School and RADA(!) in London. She is a stage and film actress (Notias by Boulmetis).

Kassandra is the canon character and you are actually meant to play the game as her. She had more work done to her than Alexios had.
And it shows as well. You can tell Alexios is more blank faced compared to Kassandra

They really improve on the facial animation. Something they're supposed to do long ago.
But well, we finally got it. Just hope it's not only in the trailer.

it will be release next year on march or april, don't remember which one. they have a lot of time to improve on facial animation. don't worry about it.
