You guys should do a series of videos called something like "To It's Limits" where you bring filmmakers in and they try to push a device to it's absolute max before it gives out, breaks, or quality drops off.
I love my PR2's. 3 things I wish could be changed though. I've had a few instances where the record button has been activated in the talent's pocket. Luckily it was turned on by accident but never turned off by accident while I needed to be recording. Another issue is the belt clip. It is very hard to open and put on anything other than a hard leather belt. I feel like a hinged spring belt clip with a guard that wraps around the front to cover the record button would solve both issues. The other problem I've had is with the lav clips. It is very easy for the mic cord to get pulled out of the lav clip. On a recent shoot this happened and it ruined a take. It would also be great to have a less expensive package of these packs that doesn't include the lav mics. I think many of us already have a pile of decent lav mics that will work great with the PR2.
Regarding the turning on in a persons pocket, triple tap the power button and it will lock the buttons and knob so it can't accidently be turned on/off. As for the other issues, we'll bring them up with the engineers.
Hi there. I own a THEOS Digital Wireless system for two speakers, feeding them into a Lumix S5IIX using the 4-channel XLR-1 accessory via the provided 3.5mm-XLR cables. I also own three TC-1 units, with one feeding the 4th channel of the S5IIX's video file with audio timecode from a TC-1. I want the PR-2 to record audio from the facility's console, but it needs to be time-synced with the rest of my setup. What's the proper workflow and what accessories do I need to get XLR audio from the console in 32-bit mono with audio timecode? I am a bit confused. Thank you.
I would love it if the PR2 would start recording again after you set timecode if it was already recording. Maybe there is a setting for record on sync, but I think it should be default. I updated timecode when adding a camera to the mix and then didn't get audio from the rest of the shoot. Big bummer.
Insane!! correct me if I'm wrong, when you connect it to the camera to have security audio, can you have timecode on one of the two channels as well? that would be great!
Question : can I plug a Rode VideoMicro II into this device and connect it as same time via deity timecode cable to my Red v-raptor? Is it possible also to use it as Master in a group with other devices such as TC-1.I'm in Europe,Thank You
Would really love to know answers to these questions: 1. Can I listen to multiple lavs on my phone at the same time? 2. What's the max distance from the device to the phone I can be and still monitor. 3. How many phones can be monitoring? Say if I want to have the director, multiple clients, etc listening through mobile, is that possible?
I want to buy this thing.. but the specs are SUPER ambiguous. What do you mean it's "capable of handling a stereo signal?" Does that mean A) I can plug a 7mm STEREO jack in there and get 2 clean channels of 32bit float audio recording? OR -B) is this the typical tricky language used by companies like Rhode, and this thing will need some other device to be used in combo in order to achieve stereo recording?
New to the world of audio here. Could this be used as a wireless mic if there was some kind of pairing receiver? Or is this really meant only for recording? Thanks!
Is the LTC 3v only used for Jam Syncing? Or is it able to put out a timecode signal on the left channel to the mic input on the camera? Like the A-Out Mode on my TC-1.
Only used for Jam syncing. Think of the PR-2 as an audio recorder first, and it happens to be a spare TC box. The TC-1 still handles unique timecode workflows better.
Amazing product! I hope that Deity make a recorder & transmitter version of this device and a reciber with hotshoe digital connection to Sony. (Edit: I know this is a Tascam direct Anwer for pro Weddings and online Clases, but it will be nice have 32bit float recording, transmitting and timecode at same time (it’s stereo so you can make it happen))
it ships with a plastic belt clip. The metal belt clip were from earlier models before production. Where did you see a metal clip being advertised? We would love to correct it with the reseller
@DeityMicrophones Question... Your site makes the following statement "The PR-2 features a toggle switch on the top that allow you to pass the microphone PiP from the output thru to the input. This means you can daisy chain the PR-2 with a transmitter so you can add recording functionality to any transmitter you might own. This also means even if the PR-2 is turned off, the transmitters PiP is still passing thru to power your lavalier." CanI use this feature to pass slightly higher voltages through to my mic (like 9V)? I record loud sounds which and some mics prefer slighter higher voltages (more than 5v) to avoid distortion. Wondering if passing through 7-9v from the output port might allow me to use the PR-2 and these hungrier mics. Thoughts? Thanks.
Excited to add this to the kit. Will it work with the V-Link cable or any female XLR to 3.5mm cable for my shotgun mic with a battery that has phantom power? Or would waiting for the DLTX be my option? Great products and keep it up!
@@DeityMicrophones thanks for answering. I've already heard about the patent problem with US models (my thoughts are with you). But in non US models is there an internal recoding capability onto the phone? I could always record the monitoring externally but having an option in the app itself would always be great (as a backup)
Hello Deity! Looking at the spec saying can take it "Line level signals" Does that mean I can record audio from Audio mixer sending out line level signal with a "XLR>TRS 3.5mm" cable into Deity PR-2??
Hang on are you saying 32 bit is only available when recording in mono? I have been waiting for this as the first tiny 32 bit stereo recorder for field recording...
I was also going to comment on this point. I was hoping to be able to record 32-bit stereo :( "Recording Bit-Depth: 32-bit Float Mono / 24-bit (Mono/Stereo)"
If I purchase the Deity PR-2 Stereo Pocket Recorder Global Version in Europe and subsequently use them with the app in the U.S. will the monitoring functions be disabled???
No. The 3V signal would bleed and you'd hear it in the recording. So you'd only want to output TC at the beginning of your shoot when yo are setting up all your gear and then turn it off so you can use the PR-2 as your audio recorder
can I use the PR-2 to record and somehow use the TC-1 to get Timecode into an iPhone 15 Pro Max and preferably use the regular Apple iOS video recording software? Alternatively the BlackMagic software? (This would leave options to expand to use Zoom recorders with the TC-1 in future)
Yes. That would work. You could use Deity C21, a 3.5mm to USB-C cable that would act as a USB Audio Interface on your iPhone 15 Pro Max, so you'd end up recording the TC as audio on your iPhone file. You'd set the TC-1 to A-Out so you don't overload the ADC chip in C21's USB-C connector.
It absolutely needs better housing that can attach it to a camera rig or a shotgun mic. Like any type of cage with a 1/4 screw is going to do. Someone will beat you guys to it. I literally am currently taping the thing to my rig to have a shotgun mic connect….
These lav mic recorders where they continuously record a person for as long as they are turned on make me nervous. For a wedding "... Letting them go and capturing reality." On US units, the pass-through is disabled during recording. 5v is the max it can handle and will NOT support 9v mics.
