As someone who spent many days working on the original game, and several more playing it as a fan beforehand, thank you for putting this video together, and thank you so much to the community for putting this fan project together. Watching this and reminiscing has me feeling all kinds of nostalgia. Even after working on many different games afterwards over the many years since we were shut down, Marvel Heroes was still my favorite project to work on by far. There isn't a day that goes by where I'm not wishing that I could run through Midtown and smash some bosses with all that super hero flair. We put so much love and dedication to this game, and it makes me proud to see that a few people recognized that even today. Thank you all so much ❤

IIRC, the execs (who had been embezzling while the company had been struggling and laying off its developers...) closed the whole building off a couple monthd before the game was supposed to shut down and deleted a bunch of key files. When Gaz's assets were bought, there wasn't enough to run the game off of. Nice to see that people are rebuilding it. Game really was a labor of love, so much detail.
Me and my friend grew up playing ultimate alliance one. I ended up finding out about Omega just before the shutdown. Happy to say that him and I did get a few hours of local coop in omega before the shutdown.
Played Marvel Heroes since beta (it had several public beta tests). I ended up pre-ordering Ms. Marvel and someone else (maybe Vision?) and the hero packs came with 2 costumes/skins. Gazillion definitely nailed the engine perfect, and the sound design just right. Whenever I fire up Last Epoch or Diablo, I wish I were still playing Marvel Heroes. Thank you Brevik and Gazillion for the wonderful memories.

Me playing this the first time after 8 years had me emotionally not ready, and ngl, I teared up hearing the Avengers Tower lobby music again and playing as Bucky, who was my main hero along with Venom. The proper amount of nostalgia kicked in at a time when I needed it, and without a doubt, this game changed my life, and I'm so happy I can at least experience apart of it again.
I was one of the people who played this game from almost the very beginning. I was one of the Beta players for Marvel Heroes and played it for a lot of it's lifespan, I missed the last year because they started making changes a year prior to shutting down that took the game in some bad directions. Marvel Heroes was a great game and I hope this Emulator succeeds and can truly bring Marvel Heroes back. I would love to play it again.

Played this game since launch of it. Still my all time favorite marvel game. My favorites were Nova, silver surfer and magneto. Though every character could be fun. I hope they continue to work on this revival and can bring the whole game back to life. The quests and side stories were awesome
The most OP character was scarlet witch. She did so much damage, and her ultimate was an AOE that destroyed everything. Her animation for her Ultimate was the same thing she did in Age of Ultron when Quicksilver died. Where she went to her knees, and everything around her just gets destroyed.

God I wish this was back on modern consoles. I would so play this on the Switch. As much as I enjoy and appreciate Ultimate Alliance 3, I hate that Marvel doesn’t have a big MMO. If DC Universe online can still exist then so can Marvel Heroes honestly

I absolutely love the character Phoenix from Marvel and this is the only game that lets me play and pretend to be her lol!
Found this on PS4 about a month before it shut down. Managed to get the platinum the day before it went down. Had a blast, fond memories! They've added so many more characters, I would love to play as Sunspot.

I used to have an "infinite ammo" Punisher build I loved. I actually had most of, if not all the heroes, and a lot of costumes. Difficult to remember exactly what I had, but I know I had multiple Spider-Man costumes...
I wonder if the devs are able to change powers too. I remember Jean Grey’s old Ult. Very standard giant Phoenix, but it works. Especially better than the swirling psionic vortex of Phoenix birds circling her that she ended with. I definitely prefer the first over the last.

So this game devinitley needed archiving so it's not lost. Hopefully the community server drums up enough hype and love as City of Heroes. Doubt it will get the same treatment but it might drive Disney themselves to wanna make one. If they see money on the table. If their able to create the models and meshes and skeletons for other characters That'd be great too. Maybe even finish up the content that wasn't ever finished. Thanos Raid, Savage lands were made for the most part but never implemented or finished.

And started playing it about a year or two before its official release, 2012 I believe, and then the game moved to open beta and then it released. It was a great blast but at some point the game was getting a bit repetitive and it was hard to gather the crystals to unlock new heroes or costumes, too bad they closed it up. I definitely tried the reborned version with the emulator but it just doesn't hit the same way, at least not until they fully connect all the disconnected systems like civillians saving, story progress, quests etc. However, I know that they will manage it eventually. Wish Marvel would just give them the server files themselves and assist them with bringing the game back, just like City of Heroes devs provided the license to the emulator team. However, knowing Disney and Marvel, it would probably never happen.
I AM FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW!! No, seriously, I LOVED this game when it was available! I played it every day for hours and I loved grinding my Iron Buddy pet! The day I learned this game shut down my heart sank. I'm SO glad someone has decided to reboot it for free! Thank you so much for letting me know this was a thing! I can't wait to play this game all over again!! :D
This game truly made you feel like you are part of MARVEL universe You swing around New York Spiderman, Scorpion and Shocker rob the bank. Then it all tied to Kingpin action and Spiderman team up with Daredevil to put an end to this. Suddenly X-men need your help to defeat Magneto. Then Avengers need your help to defeat Dr Doom. Only to end it all with Thor asking us for help to defeat Loki who tried to conquer Asgard again. This game truly made you feel like you are part of MARVEL and truly immers yourself in this world. When I first played it I used MCU skins imagine it all takes place between movies ;) playing Captain America and Falcon team up patroling New York

I miss this game. It was my favorite Diablo clone like game. I was an Iceman main and made a summoner build. It got me through end game content. I was starting to build up Deadpool next before the shutdown

Gazillion sold all their game IP and assets to Trion Worlds after the company went under. So either Trion has to go to Marvel and want to pay tens of millions a year in licensing fees to bring this game back or another company would need to buy the assets from Trion and THEN go to Marvel. Neither of those scenarios are likely at all so the success and progress of this emulator is the best we're going to get.
this game was god tier ! I remember when it came out on console, in a few days i had maxed out 2 characters and was starting a third, I played the game all summer long ! then it closed down 😔 but even having only played it for a few weeks, I can say without hesitation that it's one of, maybe even the best Marvel game I've ever played 🔥

I was there @ the end they gave us every character to play & now it looks like more characters have been added wish it would make a come back on PS. If I remember correctly it shut down because the CEO of Gazillion was a PDF & Disney asked him to step down as CEO and he wouldn't so they pulled their license

One of the few PC games I played and I absolutely adored it, why does Marvel sit on great games like this, XMen Legends and Marvel Ult. Alliance. I would pay full price for all of them again
This game was actually the FIRST game I played when I got my first PC in 2016. I actually have a download on steam AND amazon. I only played a few times but I absolutely loved it.
I never got to play this game but I feel for the fan base, Disney took this game from you like they took SWG (Star wars Galaxies) from me and many others, Respects.
Characters had a bunch more powers to choose from than the ones you showed, the info screen at the start made it look like they were mostly functional. I wonder how long it will take to bring Rogue back up to being functional... She's easily the most impressive character technically, every boss and every playable hero and team up had a power she could steal and learn (but only a few slots to equip in). ... Shame that the summons from Iron Man's ult weren't implemented yet.
when this game was live i loved it i bought heroes with Splinters but i also random box the heroes too i liked doing that to see what random hero i got by chance .the splinters dropped from the different things you saved them to get the Heroes , random hero box or team ups the costumes you had to pay for all but the default costume . you could also pay for a hero too if you paidf for a hero you would get a default then another launch costume for that hero if you got the hero with splinters it was just the default not the second one
I LOVED this game. I fully prestiged 5 characters to gold and grinded those levels religiously. I loooved swapping between omega level mutant Jean and Phoenix Jean. AAAH I wish I could play this again.
This was an amazing game back in the day, me and my brother used to play this game everyday. I had 4,701.8 hours of playing it on Steam. I'm hoping the emu servers will be ready soon, can't wait for it!
I was in the top 100 Ghost Rider players in the game way back. The game ended around the time Thor Ragnaroc was coming out. The last skins that were shown/ previewed were from that but there was alot of future stuff Datamined after the game closed up. Its actually very sad when you find out why the game fell apart/ closed. This is up there with some of the best marvel games I clocked almost 2k+ hours on this game Man :(
I threw so much money into the PC only beta game. Only for them to go silent for almost a year, make console "omega" versions then dip out when the sales didnt match their expectations. Loved thia game. Hated the companies business practices.
To give an Idea of how much I played this game, I had about half the roster at Cosmic prestige 60, which was the very maximum. You leveled from 1-60 at White, Green, Blue, Purple, Orange, Red, and then Yellow (Cosmic) 1-60, with cosmic being the equivalent of 1/25th the experience gain of all the previous. So basically, I leveled every hero 1-60, 6 times and about half of the roster 31 times 😅😅 There were I think about 64 heroes by the time it shut down. EDIT: Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom were my mains, though, with far more hours on them than the others.
I played this game a little in my youth but I never really got into it and I really regret it now, this game and marvel super hero squad online and the dc universe online were my childhood, I played SHSO a lot and dc i can play it right now if I want but the fact that I missed on this one makes me sad.
Not that long ago i had actually wished this was still a thing so I could play it on Deck. Glad to see fans bring it back. I'm gonna test it out on my Steam Deck later today
If anyone reading this has any old client versions of this game lying around, especially more rare, older builds (beta, alpha, etc) the team would love to have the files to help them along with this project.

If I remember correctly it shut down because the CEO of Gazillion was a PDF & Disney asked him to step down as CEO and he wouldn't so they pulled their license
This game was amazing! Spent like 300 on the ultimate pre order bundle! Too bad it never got the audience it needed to stay alive. Cool blast from the past!

One of the few PC games I played and I absolutely adored it, why does Marvel sit on great games like this, XMen Legends and Marvel Ult. Alliance. I would pay full price for all of them again
This game was actually the FIRST game I played when I got my first PC in 2016. I actually have a download on steam AND amazon. I only played a few times but I absolutely loved it.

I never got to play this game but I feel for the fan base, Disney took this game from you like they took SWG (Star wars Galaxies) from me and many others, Respects.
Characters had a bunch more powers to choose from than the ones you showed, the info screen at the start made it look like they were mostly functional.
I wonder how long it will take to bring Rogue back up to being functional... She's easily the most impressive character technically, every boss and every playable hero and team up had a power she could steal and learn (but only a few slots to equip in).
... Shame that the summons from Iron Man's ult weren't implemented yet.
when this game was live i loved it i bought heroes with Splinters but i also random box the heroes too i liked doing that to see what random hero i got by chance .the splinters dropped from the different things you saved them to get the Heroes , random hero box or team ups the costumes you had to pay for all but the default costume . you could also pay for a hero too if you paidf for a hero you would get a default then another launch costume for that hero if you got the hero with splinters it was just the default not the second one

I LOVED this game. I fully prestiged 5 characters to gold and grinded those levels religiously. I loooved swapping between omega level mutant Jean and Phoenix Jean. AAAH I wish I could play this again.

If you could change your perspective and look towards the sky, then this game would’ve probably been untouchable. The costume UI is crazy nice.
I put nearly 2k hours into this game before omega update even dropped. Though Omega update was seen as a watering down of it to move it to consoles.
This was an amazing game back in the day, me and my brother used to play this game everyday. I had 4,701.8 hours of playing it on Steam. I'm hoping the emu servers will be ready soon, can't wait for it!

I was in the top 100 Ghost Rider players in the game way back. The game ended around the time Thor Ragnaroc was coming out. The last skins that were shown/ previewed were from that but there was alot of future stuff Datamined after the game closed up.
Its actually very sad when you find out why the game fell apart/ closed. This is up there with some of the best marvel games I clocked almost 2k+ hours on this game Man :(

The game didn't die because it wasn't great or wasn't being supported by players.
THis game along with the old facebook game were just amazing games and it's a shame we don't still have them....
I threw so much money into the PC only beta game. Only for them to go silent for almost a year, make console "omega" versions then dip out when the sales didnt match their expectations. Loved thia game. Hated the companies business practices.

To give an Idea of how much I played this game, I had about half the roster at Cosmic prestige 60, which was the very maximum. You leveled from 1-60 at White, Green, Blue, Purple, Orange, Red, and then Yellow (Cosmic) 1-60, with cosmic being the equivalent of 1/25th the experience gain of all the previous. So basically, I leveled every hero 1-60, 6 times and about half of the roster 31 times 😅😅 There were I think about 64 heroes by the time it shut down.
EDIT: Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom were my mains, though, with far more hours on them than the others.
I played omega and got through it with deadpool... A week later it shut down. I really miss this game

You forgot to test the other skills. There is an entire skill tree/talent tree from which you can switch skills. accessible with P I believe. :P
I played this game a little in my youth but I never really got into it and I really regret it now, this game and marvel super hero squad online and the dc universe online were my childhood, I played SHSO a lot and dc i can play it right now if I want but the fact that I missed on this one makes me sad.
Not that long ago i had actually wished this was still a thing so I could play it on Deck. Glad to see fans bring it back. I'm gonna test it out on my Steam Deck later today

If anyone reading this has any old client versions of this game lying around, especially more rare, older builds (beta, alpha, etc) the team would love to have the files to help them along with this project.
You're showcasing an older version. In the new version mobs fight back and you can take damage/get koed.

I played this everyday since it was brought over from pc to playstation, have the beta and game in my library
When this was on steam i loved it .. played a lot of warmachine and deadpool ... have 446.7 hours logged on steam
