- As two diverse cultural communities, at different ends of the earth, Afrikaners and Hungarians may have more in common than it might seem on the surface. In addition, Afrikaners, as a minority group in South Africa, can take a page from the political lessons that Hungarians learned and successfully live out today despite international opposition. This is made clear in the new documentary Boers in Carpathia.
This documentary, among other things, investigates the threat to cultural identity that both Afrikaners and Hungarians are confronted with and the ways in which these communities are currently forging bonds and exchanging ideas about creating a better future for their respective cultures. Boers in Carpathia also sheds light on the remarkable phenomenon in which the ideas that underpin the Hungarian political dispensation are criticised on an international level, although Hungary is succeeding and flourishing, while the ideas that underpin the South African political dispensation are highly praised even though the South African state is failing spectacularly.

The Carpathian mountains start in Austria and stretch 1500km into Bulgaria, being in a total of 8 countries.
4% of it's total area is inside the north of Hungary.
The name varying according to the language and interestingly only in Romania it's spelled with a "C" instead of a "K" because of the Latin influence.
Why Hungary? If you call any other European a Hungarian, they see it as an insult!
Julle het dit heeltemaal verloor met "Hungary is the last bastion of freedom in the western world". From a South African perspective the threatened people makes total sense, but getting on the lap of European hyper nationalists is a very wrong turn to take. Suid Afrika is nie Europa nie..
