Growing up, I never realized how well choreographed these fights were.

@@monicacortez9871 well, SMG's original stunt double deserved most of the credit, she and the network parted ways after season 4. That's why Buffy's fighting changes and looks slower and less martial artsy, because her next doubles weren't as good. But seasons 1-4 had the best fighting scenes
Sophia Crawford had mad skills and the stunt co-ordinator, Jeff Pruitt was amazing.
The fight choreography of this show is always the best and on point

I just love the electricity that comes from Eliza vs Sarah. They are such a good duo for acting. Laughing my ass off all the time!
I always feel Buffy's fighting is meant to be shown as more defensive. She is far better at blocking attacks, faster and agile (as others have mentioned). Faith is all about pure power, and strength, wanting to cause as much pain as possible and disabling the opponent, designed to show her aggressive personality. Also more resourceful, she regularly uses something from the environment to throw at Buffy or use as a weapon. This may be seen as 'dirty' tactics to some, further contrasting them.

When Faith first appeared on the show, she was a hip new addition to the Buffy squad. But around the second or third episode she was in, you start to see how much she loathes fighting for unselfish causes. Sarah Michelle Guellar though, she's still one of the few actresses I hope to meet someday. Sarah Michelle Guellar, Anna Kendrick, Hailee Steinfeld, Victoria Justice. Not in that order, but I do hope to meet them in the future.

I am glad they introduced Faith, a equally skilled and emotionally character to Buffy, I could watch these scenes all day ✌🏾
Love these fights especially how well the fight choreography displays how different Buffy and Faith are as fighters. Buffy is easily faster, more technical and better trained thus she has the more impressive moves of the two while Faith is more of a brawler, using brute strength and weapons/random objects in fights when she's at a disadvantage. Awesome stuff!! :)

Faith was such a deep and complex character, I loved the relationship she and Buffy had. Despite being so different only they could understand each other as the only slayers (until season 8)
lol "hi mom" "hi honey" was definitely my favorite part
I like the love and hate relationship between the two of them.
And thus my Fuffy obsession began...

And that hand thing they did when Faith put her hand in Buffy's hand they both brightly glowed. What does that mean? I was thinking for a long time that may have meant they were sisters or Faith was Buffy's long lost sister or she was related to Buffy in some way.

I loved the fight when they're in each other's body and Faith is just throwing insults at herself basically, just shows how much she hated what she became.

I can honestly say that while although I don't condone (but I understand it) Buffy hitting Angel...on the other side I don't blame her for being so heated...I mean after everything that Faith had done to Buffy over the course of Season 3 and into Season 4 Faith made it her mission to destroy Buffy and take everything away from her. If someone tried to steal not one but both of my boyfriends, tried to frame me for murder, tried to kill my friends and my mother, and stole my body from me YEAH I'd be inclined to want to punch my ex too if he were trying to protect her....some of y'all act so shocked that she looked shocked after he hit her. PUT yourself in Buffy's shoes...if someone had done all of that to you are you seriously going to tell me that you wouldn't be shocked that your former lover is protecting your enemy?
I've always been on Buffy's side in this scene. It's not fair for her to be practically raped and have her mother held hostage, only to be seen as a villain because she's angry. Of course she's going to get mad at Angel for standing up for the person who did so many things wrong to her.

It would have been interesting to see how it would have all played out...to see what Faith would have done or did do when she wasn't out attempting to ruin Buffy's life.....

I enjoy watching their fights. And seeing how different they are compared to one another. Buffy more so relies on speed and is better trained, remember she had Giles. As for Faith she relies more on strength and brutality also her surroundings.

Well you have to understand, Angel was trying to save Faith and that wasn't necessarily Buffy's agenda and she wasn't trying to hear him out either. They situation was heated as well.
I understand what Angel was trying to do and I think it was a good thing (even if I'm wary of his true motivations... but that's another matter) but I'm sure there were other ways to make her listen without having to punch her. And yes I know she punched him first but I can understand why she did it, she was hurt and worried and angry and had tons of reasons to feel like she did and to lose control. Angel didn't. He didn't do it to protect Faith, he acted out of spite (you punch me, I punch you back) and arrogance, because she dared tell him what to do in 'his city'
Yeah, there were underlying currents of their relationship playing there...Faith's presence didn't help. I like how it all unfolded. Good stuff.

I find it so funny in the Graduation Day part 1 fight that Buffy was armed with both handcuffs and a knife and doesn't think to use either one until they've beaten seven bells outta eachother and gone through a window
On the other hand, Faith had been in a comma for several months, unable to train or slay. When she was at her peak in Graduation Day the fight was mostly even
she's a slayer tho they have supernatural strength and healing so idk if a coma really weakens them

Any realize that faith fought better in buffys body like faith is limited by her lack of training physically but buffy has had more years of training and her body is in better shape
Faith fighting skills are more on strength while buffy is more powerful.
Both have the same strength. But Faith's channel her power towards anger and rage. Where's Buffy came from balance
Faith is more of the aggressive brawler type in fighting whereas Buffy is more strategic
If we go by what we've seen to be true with vampires for example, size plays a part. Buffy was smaller than Faith, and so it made sense that she was more agile than her - but that also means it makes sense for Faith to have more physical strength than Buffy. Faith uses more aggression and violence to account for Buffy's speed and agility advantage.

Faith went to harass and even kill Joyce, but definitely as a lure to bring Buffy to her. She used the device when the cops came since their fight was a standstill, with Buffy having the advantage. As to their surprise, I'm sure anyone would react the same if you instantly switched bodies with your enemy. Faith was just lucky to hit first after the swap because she knew "something" would happen, just not what exactly. Faith was bound to lose though, she was driven by self-hatred and jealousy

In the second one (the nearly fight) I just noticed that Sarah doesn't even aim her arm high enough to make it seem like she actually hit her in the face.
While the fight choreography is amazing, unfortunately, season 3 is the worst at being able to tell when they switch between actor and stunt double. I literally go Sarah, Sophie, Sarah, Sophie.

Every time that buffy and faith would fight i could always tell that buffy was always a little stronger and had more skill than faith.......Maybe its because buffy has been a slayer longer than faith :)
natedog18highschool Well I feel it’s because Buffy is fast where as Faith is more aggressive. Sorta like Glory where she takes so many hits but one punch is a knock out.
Don't forget Buffy had been training since she was like 15 years old and she trained with Giles. Faith had slayer strength but she'd never trained a day in her life.

originally Faith was supposed to have her own spin off show which I think personally would have been a hell of a lot better than Angel.
I think Eliza Dushku turned down that idea sadly because she was doing the show Tru Calling which is an amazing show if you dig her.

Season 3 had some of the best fights. Anne, Season 2 opener still my favorite of all fight scenes, but season 3 is when the show took off

Buffy's prime to be a slayer came before Faith's. So therefore, she is stronger. The only thing is Faith doesn't aim to be good, whether you like it or not she'll do what she wants. But IN MY OPINION, Buffy is more coordinated and stronger. Her technique is better.

buffy was a better technical fighter and faith was a lot more wild.
