Reading's League One match with Port Vale was abandoned on Saturday on the advice of the EFL after around 1,000 home fans invaded the pitch.
The home supporters were protesting against the club ownership of Dai Yongge and the match was halted after 16 minutes of play, with around 40 of the fans still refusing to leave the pitch some 68 minutes later.

You’re right Vale have been in administration twice. The problem with football club owners is you can’t vote them out unlike politicians. Strange that it takes something like this to bring opposing fans together rather than hating each other. Really hope Reading survive and eventually prosper.

@DresdenShuffle and another heavy points deduction for what can be technically described as severe misconduct. I am a Reading fan, this method won't work in 2024, idiots in power at FA/efl etc will look for any excuse to send us into the fire and watch us burn into nothing. We had to be smarter than breaking the laws. Don't give the FA oxygen for their deluded gunfire.

He now wants to sell the club in name only and is refusing to pay staff wages and tax.... Meaning we are just amassing debt as a club with no assets. He owned 2 other clubs, both no longer exist, he basically asset stripped them and let them go out of business. Neither exist. He has done the same to us and now we won't just be in administration,, we will be liquidated. No one wants to buy RFC in name only for the stupid money he is asking. Can't blame Reading fans for the protests towards the owner but this really is not the right way to go about it. Why invade the pitch during the game? All it has done is got the game abandoned and will just lead to stadium bans and possibly further punishment or fines from the EFL, as well as these fans actions being unfair to the travelling supporters of the away team. Who benefits from this? I think the least Reading should do is give an official apology for this to the other team and their fans who had travelled to watch and support their team. I'm all for fans standing up to the owners for the way their club is run, too many football clubs in recent times are being run by clowns who just come in and see the club as a toy to play with and don't realise how much it means to the fans and the community, but this is the wrong way. By all means protest outside the stadium before or maybe even after the game. But don't invade the pitch during the match and cause all that disruption. Totally unnecessary.

We’ve already protested before and after the game. There was a fan march and demonstration against the ownership from town centre to the stadium too but all this has changed nothing.
We are now in a fight to save our club from an owner who has killed 2 football clubs already. KSV Roeselere in Belgium and Beijing Renhe in China. We don’t want to be next.
I don’t like that our protest has had to disrupt the game but you feel that there is little else you can do from the stands that will grab national news attention and get some pressure on the owners to sell up

You realise the travelling fans (respect to them) were applauding the Reading fans who invaded the pitch - as they (unlike you) understand the magnitude of what is happening at the club. This protest cannot be ignored, this is a message to the owner and the EFL that something has to happen for this criminal owner to be removed and for the club to be saved.

Reading should forfeit the match and be docked points as this is NOT the way to protest, when a match is being played. The fans cannot take the law into their own hands.
