    Nice video, and thanks for touching some of the controversial issues. I agree the QR2 is great, but indeed way overpriced taking into account that it’s the solution for the problems people had with the QR1, specially the Lite version, which is still being shipped with their wheels. Happy holidays

      Yep, I did see that on their specification sheet. Practically for a sim user I don't think it will make a difference. Just marketing speak I think to justify the expense.

    I have 3 wheels, 2 Podium style: the F1 and 911 Podim wheels that can be upgraded to QR2, and the 918 which I only use for rally and cannot be upgraded. I'm really thinking what I should do since it would cost me a ton of money to ugrade my 2 wheels and my DD1 and then I would also need to try and sell my 918 wheel and buy a new round wheel for rally. That would cost me at least 1000 euro ..... god ....

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is very similar to what I want through. The thing I found even once you taken into account selling the old stuff and then sourcing to switch ecosystem it still works out more cost effective to stay with Fanatec in the majority of cases I believe. I really wish their price point had been a bit fairer given it should have been like this in the first place. Their latest Black Friday sale shows that they could have sold the base side attachment for significantly lower too, even if selling at a loss to get people to move over to the new ecosystem. Let me know what you eventually end up doing, I would be interested to know.

    I thought the QR2 pro was to allow you to use any wheel rim you want as fanatec wheel bases wont work with other rims without it. I switched from a full fanatec dd1 setup to a full simagic alpha u setup 2 years ago got sick of fighting to remove rims and I tried everything to make it easier and the cost of upgrading the base and rims was more than the cost of the simagic alpha base with the gt4 rim. I just bought a front mount from advanced simracing for $45 fits perfectly on the simlab p1x that has the fanatec mounting. I have not regrets and the rims have a much higher build quality and cost less being canadian fanatec ships from the us and duties, taxes and shipping are crazy high.

      You are getting confused with the Podium Hub. This allows you to use any wheel with a Fanatec wheel base. This new quick release has now negated a lot of that frustration now fortunately. Glad you are happy with your purchase 👍🏻

    Nice vid. I ordered the new Q2 stuff day 1 release. Their site was in meltdown, i got no order receipt, no confirmation e mail nothing. Never did get my order. However, money was taken from my bank within seconds of the order. Took over a month and 11teen e mails before finally getting a response and a refund. Not bothered re ordering. Lost confidence in Fanatec. Like you said, the cost to switch brand after 3 wheel bases 5 rims is hard to justify doing.

    The real reason to get a QR2 is to escape that horrible gasket. Holy christ, putting a wheel on is like being in a ship disaster movie where you have to slowly and dramatically open a bulkhead door. Yes it's overpriced, Fanatec knows we will pay since anybody who needs/wants this is already in the "dropping serious cash" territory. If you have a stiff seating layout (I have a Playseat Trophy) it is great because you can throw the wheel off effortlessly to stand up instead of sliding out of the chair. Honestly the only weird thing about the system is you can put it on the wrong way, potentially, though you'd really have to slam it in purposefully to do damage. Really, once you get a rig you want, most of your upgrades are shaving off the very small impediments that waste your time and make you make you more willing to play.

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Completely agree! The gasket was a major inhibiting factor for me swapping wheels. Always loved the wheel flying off towards me as I pull it off 😒
      I did think that it was a bit odd putting it on the wrong way although I think the taper would stop it wouldn't it?
      I'm all up for any and all quality of life improvements no matter how marginal. Even with the short time owning it I have swapped wheels a lot more than ever before 😅

  • @RAKEuutje
    @RAKEuutje 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I've been using the qr2 a few weeks now, but I've regretted my choice so far. Mainly because the shaft of the QR2 is heavier, the ffb feels much more dampened. Since fanatec doesn't have tons of filters to use, i think it's a high end solution for a too old motor and software. I think if you use over 12 Nm, the QR2 is going to be solid, but if you use only under 12 Nm, the QR1 is going to transfer the ffb way better without the downsides.

    • @DeanoDrives
      @DeanoDrives 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The quick release is close to the axis of rotation, this has a small effect on the weight of the steering in comparison with a heavy rim / grips that are further from the axis of rotation.

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      This doesn't really correlate with my experience.
      The weight difference between the 2 is negligible and even if there was a variation in weight, the moment arm would be zero so mathematically there would be minimal effect on torque. If anything, because the column is a more rigid structure it would be better at transmitting force to you. Personally I feel the FFB is improved and the argument that the QR1 is better at transferring FFB makes no sense. If there is increased movement in the construct some of that FFB will be absorbed by the construct.

      @TraumaTeamRacing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @hank10111111 I very much agree, the customer service recently has been inadequate and they really need to up their game. The QR is however more than just the ability to change wheels. It improves the feel. Everyone will have their own thoughts if that's worth it though.

      @TraumaTeamRacing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your constructive comment. As it appears you were not clear from the video I will clarify.
      Yes, I would expect it to include a rudimentary torque wrench/key given the critical aspect of it. Something relatively inexpensive bought on bulk could have easily been included. These are easily searchable and not as robust as the one I used.
