Amazing video man 🙏🏾 been debating about upgrading but you helped opened my eyes to smallhd. Make sure you got some affiliate links so when I purchase any of the monitors you can get something back

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words and yeah the products are so different even though they do the same things. I will add some links for sure, Cheers!

Great video, you actually helped convince me to buy the 702 Touch and by sheer luck they recently went on sale for only one day for only $1,250 brand new at B&H during Black Friday! I almost had a heart attack, couldnt buy it fast enough! Question, what settings did you use to get that red recording rectangle though? I'm used to that feature on my FX3 but I'm using the 702 with my FX6 via an HDMI cable. Can't seem to replicate that feature. Please help Karl.......

That is awesome to hear! I got mine the same way, nice deep discounts. Oh boy, you may not like this answer. After looking through the menus I did not find that feature available on the FX6 and this monitor. It works on the FX3 and A7SIII but not FX6! Sonny about that. Thanks for the comment, Cheers!

@@KarlWeinreich i just got a 702 touch, use it with the a7siii but can't seem to achieve the red recording outline-- I added the metadata tab and turned on the record option but still can't seem to get the red rectangle. Any ideas on what I'm missing, would be much appreciated!! Can't seem to find info on this elsewhere

@narmizzle thanks for the comment! You have to turn time code on then the red square will show up.

@@KarlWeinreich appreciate the response: i did have timecode off given it not being relevant to my work, but turning it on didn't activate the red outline. I found the solution though, simply turning "Rec Control" to 'on' in the HDMI output settings on the a7siii did the trick (then of course having metadata turned on on the 702, with the record option switched to on as well). Just wanted to spell all of this out in case someone like me winds up here with the same question/concern!

The smallerhd band is severely overpriced for what you get compared to the ATOMOS brand! I’ve used smallerhd monitors and they are great at what they do but in my opinion they are ripping people off!😅

I get where you’re coming from. SmallHD monitors do come at a premium price, and it can feel steep compared to other brands like ATOMOS. That said, SmallHD has built a reputation for their build quality, durability, and user-friendly interface, which is why they’re a go-to for many professionals. But it's true-everyone has different priorities and budgets, so if ATOMOS works better for you, that’s what matters. It’s all about finding the gear that fits your needs and workflow best. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😅
