  • In todays reaction video, YOUR British Family (Mr H and friends) Try PILLSBURY BISCUITS For The First Time! Cooking With H
Pillsbury Southern Biscuits are a popular type of biscuit product offered by the Pillsbury brand. Pillsbury is a well-known American company that specializes in ready-to-bake and refrigerated dough products.
Pillsbury Southern Biscuits are known for their flaky texture and buttery flavor, which are characteristic of traditional Southern-style biscuits. These biscuits are pre-made and conveniently packaged in a can, making them easy to prepare at home.
To bake Pillsbury Southern Biscuits, you typically follow these steps:
Preheat your oven to the recommended temperature indicated on the packaging.
Open the can of Pillsbury Southern Biscuits. They are often packaged in a pressurized can, so when you peel off the wrapper and twist the can, the biscuits will pop out.
Separate the biscuits by gently pulling them apart along the perforated lines. Be careful not to flatten or deform them.
Place the biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet, leaving some space between them for expansion during baking.
Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for the recommended time specified on the packaging. The baking time can vary depending on the specific product, so it's important to follow the instructions provided.
Once the biscuits are golden brown and fully cooked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
Pillsbury Southern Biscuits can be enjoyed on their own or as a delicious accompaniment to various dishes. They are often served with breakfast, alongside dishes like eggs, bacon, or sausage. They can also be used to make breakfast sandwiches or served as a side with meals like fried chicken, gravy, or soups.
It's worth noting that while Pillsbury Southern Biscuits offer convenience and a taste reminiscent of homemade biscuits, they may not have the exact same texture or flavor as biscuits made from scratch. Nevertheless, they provide a quick and easy option for enjoying warm and flaky biscuits at home.

As a biscuit maker for many years (I haven't used Pilsbury's biscuits in a long time), I find that if you actually place the biscuits on the baking sheet touching each other, they will rise higher. Don't do the 2 inches apart thing, just place them in the center in a circle and make sure they are touching. Put some in the center too, touching. Then bake. You'd be shocked by how much higher they rise.
For some strange reason, opening the Pilsbury can scares the heck out of me. Just like popping a champagne cork. I get major anxiety! 😄
Let them cool a bit before eating, at least 5-10 minutes. They won't be as doughy in the middle. Don't cut them with a knife, use your fingers to split them open. Using a knife makes them compressed and doughy.
I prefer homemade, every time, using buttermilk. Plus try them with honey or jam and butter - they are fantastic.

YUMMM, Home-made plum, apple, peach, cactus, mesquite jelly, or syrup please (or peanut butter on the butter)! Sausage or bacon gravy is the best, but not with a buttermilk biscuit. That is for a good old fashioned southern biscuit. Peace, Love!!

Homemade cathead biscuits (so called because they are about the size of a cat's head) in a cast iron skillet are incredible (if possible made with White Lily flour) that said Pillsbury does in a pinch... I am fortunate enough to have a really good restaurant nearby called Maverick Biscuit specializing in you guessed it biscuits :-)

This ought to give you a laugh, and it's a true story! A woman was driving home one day when she heard a pop and felt something on the back of her head. She reached back and felt something gooey! She thought she'd been shot, so she drove herself straight to the hospital. She learned that her brains weren't coming out after all. The heat in her car had made a can of biscuits pop open, and one had landed on the back of her head and stuck there! LOL

My personal favorite Biscuits are Red Lobsters Cheddar Bay biscuits. They sell the mix in stores here in the US. They are basically regular biscuits with shredded cheddar mixed into the dough . Then right when they come out of the oven you brush them with a Herbal Garlic Butter. I'm sure you can use your homemade recipe and just look online on how much cheese to make and how to make the herbal butter.
Also whenever I make homemade biscuits I like to cheat and just use a muffin try to bake them in. 😄

Life Hack - We always use the Fork method on our biscuits, rolls, muffins, bagels or anything similar, instead of using a knife to cut it in half. You just take a regular dinner fork and you push the tines of the fork in towards the center of the biscuit/roll/muffin/bagel... you continue to do this going all the way around and by the time you get back to the place you started the biscuit/roll/muffin/bagel should just separate in half perfectly.

Also for more of a sweet treat add butter and drizzle a small amount of pancake syrup (maple) or for a summer treat slice open a couple of biscuits and add cut up strawberries and cream (whipped cream from the can - Redi Whip) and you could also add vanilla ice cream separately or with the cream too! Yummmmmm!!!😂😂😂😂😂 ps - put washed and sliced strawberries in a container add a teaspoon or more of sugar into the bowl, mix together, add a bit of cold water to it stir and put the covered bowl in the fridge over night. This adds to the sweetness and creates a bit of a strawberry slurry. 😊

  • @katmit69
    @katmit69 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Okay so here's a fun Southern Secret, when you buy canned biscuits, and they need to be the non-flaky ones, you can make awesome do-nuts out of them!!! You just pop them out of the can, use a shot glass or empty pill container and pop the circle out of the middle. The put them in a pot of hot oil, the will brown and puff up pretty quick, so you have to watch them and it usually only takes 1 flip, 1 side gets golden brown, then flip them over and let the other side get golden brown. Then we have plates of sugar, or cinnamon & sugar or powdered sugar and you just flip them around in it and get them nice and coated. Cook the do-nut holes as well and coat them in the sugar....and they are scrumptiously amazing!!! So easy to make and so wonderful to eat!!! Enjoyed you eating the Pillsbury Biscuits, I honestly rarely cook homemade biscuits anymore because theirs are amazing, especially the flaky layer ones, my fam can go through a can in about 5 minutes. LOL We eat them with fresh butter, fresh Grape Jam and Pineapple or Peach Preserves..or just with good quality Apple Butter! My son makes lunch out of them with grilled ham and scrambled eggs with cheese. Yum, yum, yum!!!😋🥰♥

I worked as a dough mixer for a bakery/frozen dough mfg. "Hazlewood Farms" for many many years, Until Pillsbury came along and bought us out. We were the market leader in what we produced, Which was all types of frozen bread doughs, and the best frozen gourmet cookie dough...except for biscuits which we didn't make. The only thing we actually baked at our plant were cake rounds( layer cakes ), and everything else we made there was in the form of frozen doughs. The cookies you buy at the cookie shops in the malls were mostly made by us, then baked by our customers on site. Places like the Great American Cookie Company... We also did all the bread for places like Subway, Blimpie's, etc. etc....After a few years Pillsbury shut our plant down, all they wanted us for was to take over our markets...

Three things. First, yes, you should let them get a little more golden brown. Second, When you cut them open, put the butter in the middle on sandwich it with the top and bottom. Which brings us to three, eat them hot. This last one is most important. They are at their best, directly out of the oven. When you put them on the table, you should keep them covered with a towel, to keep the heat in.

We are so used to these kinds of cans that most people don't even use the spoons to open them. I just push both thumbs on that seam until it pops. We have loads of brands and varieties of biscuits as well as cinnamon rolls that come in those cans, so you get used to them. We also have a version that has flaky layers which you can just peel apart. Having them with just butter is nice if you're having them as a side with chicken or something but I like them with butter and jelly (not gelatin), jam, or preserves. Another thing we used to do with the store bought biscuits is poke a hole in them and stretch them out and drop them in oil to make fried donuts out of them which are brilliant with cake frosting or cinnamon and sugar. The same companies that make the biscuits like that in the can also make frozen versions in a bag which I prefer because you can just bake 1 or 2 or as many as you want instead of having all those in the can.

I call them "Whomp Biscuits", because you can peel the wrapping off, exposing the cardboard, then whomp it against the edge of the countertop and it'll pop open. The funniest biscuit story is about the woman who went shopping on a really hot day. She put her bag in the back of her car and remembered she had forgotten something in the store. When she came back and started the car, she heard a "pop!" and felt something hit the back of her head. She was sure she'd been shot, when she realized her can of biscuits had exploded!
