- The prominent rise of AI in recent years has raised many concerns, including the use of deepfakes. This shocking technology can easily be used by scammers to replicate people to access personal information, open bank accounts and even recreate passports.
Fraud expert Simon Horswell explains how it works using Susanna Reid's face, and shares his tips on how to spot a deepfake.

That's a really really bad "deepfake". Looks absolutely unconvincing.
I think the purpose of the demo is to show how easy it is for an amateur to do it

Yes, but this is done live. If the video doesn't need to be live, it can be made better. Only a year or two ago, it used to take hours or days to process a video like this. Now it's almost instant!
That does not do deep fake tech or the associated concerns any justice. It can be much more accurate.

Wait a minute, biometrics uses the depth of the field, It works in the same way as your fingerprint - how back your eyes are your head and other features. It does NOT use your image. This is why photographers don't work.
This guy is not being 100% accurate.
Unfortunately, my 76-year-old father thinks he’s actually talking to the real Suzanna and have an online relationship. The whole family knows it’s fake and yet he still falling for it.
There are way better deep fakes where unless they say it's a deep fake it's impossible to know

Deepfake isn't just an app that can be banned or removed, there's millions of websites that have deepfake technology for people to use and even if they did outright ban all this technology, you would still have Discords, Telegrams and the Dark Web with access to this stuff, as long as AI exists then deepfakes will always be possible
