- In this VladTV exclusive, Chris "Kid" Reid detailed his upbringing as a biracial child during the 1970s to becoming one half of the legendary Hip Hop duo, Kid 'n Play. Kid recalled the success of the duo as well as its popular 'kick step' dance. The rapper and comedian also explained Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff being considered for "House Party" before Kid 'n Play in addition to Kid 'n Play receiving an offer for an NBC sitcom before "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." Kid also reflected on the various stars who got their big break from the House Party films as well as the effect gangsta rap had on the duo's image.

So glad he mentioned my school, Flushing High School (14:41). That was how I met him! I was 17 years old in the Talent Show, I think it was my Junior year, 1988, doing Kool Moe Dee's "How Ya Like Me Now", and he came out on stage (not planned, completely spontaneous), and danced in my performance, which made my performance the BEST one of that entire show!! Will never forget that night, always love the brotha for that "assist"!

It’s a testament to humanity how positive this Brotha is. I mean it.
Because Yo the late 80s and early 90s was such a divisive time. Where the voices of black youth were being actively attacked, shut down, and dismissed; no matter the content. If it involved young ppl from the black and brown communities it was targeted and slapped with labels of negative reproach. These guys have etched themselves in stone when comes to art, community, and culture.
