Hey man I like your videos I own a successful small construction company aswell in south Florida in the Sarasota area. I just wanted to chime in on the sub contracting deal, it is nice and one way or another everyone is doing it but your giving up free money to the guy that subbed work to you. I sub work out to one of my colleagues and I get 30% of each job’s profit without touching it and if is not a contract job and its just a home owner and I still use him I still make the majority of the profit with his cut included and that’s what there doing aswell and it’s just business nothing more but it’s something to think about. Keep making videos buddy I enjoy watching them even though I do the same thing every day lol
Interesting take on it your a 100% right with that and I am trying to get into the business model of subbing out work to other contractors because that awesome to be able to make 30% profit margins without moving a finger but right now I still in the field which isn’t bad but that’s apart of my plan to grow my company that said that in my previous videos
I’m still in the field doing my thing but the other guy is doing his jobs to I do my regular work and I do the harder more involved jobs and his jobs are all free money to me and my customers are happy they get work done in a timely manner it cuts out having to deal with employees and insurance on those employees he is his own boss he decides his income u can get to 1m a year without the headache bud but keep grinding I love seeing others approach on the work we just thought I’d share my take on it
If you make 30%, and I make 30%, and the next guy makes 30%, then the customer and the one actually doing the work are getting ripped off. Subbing is good up to a point. Then it crosses the line of ethics, at least for me.
@@small-town-southern-man3573 I get the job I deduct my 30% for providing the work and billing and holding the license required and dealing with the job and the sub gets the remaining 70% for his hard work and everyone is happy it’s just how it is I’m sure the company makes money on me to so it’s a revolving door
I recommend you get some sort of plexiglass door or something you can make or fab up yourself when your brush cutting. Even a ¼" sheet of plexiglass will deflect debris. That's super dangerous. My uncle lost an eye brush cutting cause he didnt have a door. And I know a couple other guys who have been smacked in the head with stuff including myself. He'll even a grinding faceshield will work.
Makes sense I tried to make one that’s why on my machine I have plexiglass on my side windows but not in the middle but it didn’t work out and I messed up when making it so I’ll just buy one from the one website for $2400
I’m a full time farmer but I have a skid steer and about every attachment you would ever need. Thinking about subbing out side jobs. Also a baptist preachers kid 1Perter 5:7-11.
I like your videos. They are helpful. I am starting a skid steer business in Missouri. Keep up the good work. Try to add more profit numbers to your videos. It helps thanks
Looking to see how your help people start their own business......great day in the life videos but I haven't heard you speak about ways to get equipment or price jobs, real in depth details, everything has been surface videos. But it's good to see a young man doing positive things. Stay safe
Oh this is a series all my videos talk about my business and how to grow in the business that is why you have to go through my channel and look for the info you want to learn. But I have to make every video different with information to keep people interested
Love the channel and your work ethic brother !!! Grab a Timbren kit for that truck and it will end all that squat and also not impact your daily driving. I’ve had them for 5 years and they still work well.
I wouldn't recommend painting the brushcutter orange. Not only is the yellow a nice contrast, but painting it will likely decrease the resale value as it won't match anything but Kubota.
I know in a previous video you had mentioned youve never worked a 9-5 job. How did you manage to learn how to the jobs people asked of you without earth moving/excavator experience?
@@EntreprenuerDavisthe best thing you did getting knowledge from them that have it and work leads also you are eager to learn but with that comes long hours I know ran my own trucking company 55 years and some jobs seems to go on forever but the paycheck makes it worth it keep it up 10:07
im extremely interested in this buisness and have the equipment to do it and would honestly love to go full time but I’m not sure how to get customers to start.
im wanting to start skid steer biz out here in cali. do you think a 16 foot trailer is necessary or would a14 footer be ok to fit a brush cutter attachment? i see you tipped the cutter up but i also see you had what looked like 2 feet extra behind your kubota
The Hardest part for me at this point in my business as I am growing is understanding weight and trucks and trailers and what weight and what machine can be used on what setup. It can definitely be learned like I am right now but I wish I knew more about Ute before I started I may have to upgrade my trailer or get a new one soon because of the weight rating on the axles.
I would rent a truck and trailer if you can’t go and buy or finance them there’s guys at rent them for about 850 a month with the heavy duty truck and trailer if your search hard enough I usually see them in FB marketplace
You've chosen a poor position to mount the camera for this video ! The top 30% of the visual image is mostly cut off ! Kinda frustrating to watch actually !
@@jonezy300 trust me you wouldnt you would just be more mindful of it you don’t need a forestry door to do brush cutting they make them for the mini skid and they can’t even have a cab at all

I have been looking into getting a door there about 1500 for the kit brand new online
You’re the real deal bro getting up early getting it. That’s what I like and I’m sure your customers love it.

That is true but I think the guy who had it before me painted it yellow to match his caterpillar skid steer.
On the grass cutting part you could’ve used a mower. The grass is tore up
Yeah but that would have taken more time to go home and get the mower and come back to the job the grass will grow back we are in Florida.
Bro the ending of your videos are the best part! Repent and believe
As always man It’s the most important thing in life.
i like you davies, no horseshit involved
Thanks you man

Welcome to the Family!
What methods are you using to find work. Thanks
I know in a previous video you had mentioned youve never worked a 9-5 job. How did you manage to learn how to the jobs people asked of you without earth moving/excavator experience?
TH-cam and talking to other people in the excavation space and online forms and doing a bunch of research as I was currently doing each job.

Just a question, my man what is your go to marketing app? Thumbtack or social media?
I use multiple different ways to get leads I made a video about this as well
Hey Davis, love the videos. Keep uo the good work and info for us newbies... What size is your trailer?
Thank you man I will my trailer is a 7x16 Dumper trailer with 7k axles

Thanks man
Is this just grass cutting? Was the grass just too high for a roding mower? Great content, keep going strong 💪🏾
The one section was pretty much grass cutting but the rest needed to brush cut but I didn’t want to have to bring a regular mower as well
D like Davis

It can definitely be learned like I am right now but I wish I knew more about Ute before I started I may have to upgrade my trailer or get a new one soon because of the weight rating on the axles.
Did you cut the tree down or push it over?
We ended up cutting down the tree I just didn’t get it on film because they cut it when I was going skid work.
You ever think about mulching
I have a big skid steer 10k+ lbs. No truck no trailer. I'd like to get started. What do you suggest?
I would rent a truck and trailer if you can’t go and buy or finance them there’s guys at rent them for about 850 a month with the heavy duty truck and trailer if your search hard enough I usually see them in FB marketplace
They usually rent them out for hotshot but I’m sure they wouldn’t care what you use them for just as long as they get paid
You have a link to the group you mentioned about?
No longer affiliated with that sorry man
No problem. That makes sense now.
Do you wish you would of bought a highflow kubota 65-2?
No I do not. sure I could have used it but do I need it to make money no I haven’t even needed a high flow attachment yet
You've chosen a poor position to mount the camera for this video ! The top 30% of the visual image is mostly cut off ! Kinda frustrating to watch actually !
Sorry man it was a raining day not much I could do except this but I had all the camera Gear just can’t take the chance of ruining it
Will do better next time thanks for your feedback
Thanks for your reply ! I enjoy your vids and great attitude !
What documents did you need to become a sub c?
Your W9 form and insurance and a LLC
How do you combat bees and hornets
Best way is to get a door for your skid but other than that there’s no other way.
Misleading title, is that click bait?
this might be stupid but do you have/worth getting a contractor license?
I’m confused on your question
Working in the rain is never fun 😅
It really does suck lol but we gotta do it
