Don't know if this helps, but my first time at LL I did the canyon approach too. As you can tell, it's pretty blind and can eat up time. On the ground i talked to a guy in a working Beaver and he showed me his method, which keeps the strip in sight almost the full time. That bare patch to your right on about a 1/4 to 1/2 mile final, you can get slow and do a sort of overhead approach over that area. You stay in sight, people can see you, it's quick, and you don't have to fly that Star Wars canyon. FWIW.
I appreciate the tip, I’ll try it next time! That was my first time landing there and we had 3 ships in loose formation so we were trying to give room. Been back a few times since and keep it much tighter. Hope to see you out there!
Footage like this reminds me how vast and wild certain parts of Creation still are. It is refreshing to remember when I get absorbed in the cares and challenges of my own small territory.
This is at Lower Loon near Johnson Creek, Idaho. Well done Josh!! Your precision, traffic advisories, and overall situational awareness are impressive. I love the footage and editing, too.
