Hi,
If I calculated soil spring along the entire of pile length, this case must I apply all springs entire length ? For example as per location codes , at first we define effective length of pile( pile length is 15m diam.600mm, first soil layer thickness is medium sand 4m secand layer is soft clay is 2m and stiff clay is 8m ). We calculating effective pile height is 9m , this case we dont take account for 6m . And this case I apply 9m spring?

What is the unit for Pile spring stiffness? As per this video it is found to be kPa. Is this correct? Usually Spring stiffness will be in kPa/m or kN/m. Clarify. I guess you need to multiply the circumference of the pile with (p/y) to get the stiffness in kN/m, since p is in kN/m and y is in m.

Great presentation. I have one question: Structure Engineers usually need nonlinear spring stiffness for numerical modelling; a mobilized spring stiffness that will change with lateral displacement, however your table of spring stiffness are constant values. How we can get a nonlinear spring stiffness, for each specific depth of the pile, from LPile? Thank you.
That is a one million dollars question. Unless you have a software that bears non-linear behaviour, you cannot. But if you do, you an test several load in L-pile and draw a non linear curve for each soil layer. You will then input the soil behaviour as spring propriety in the FEM software.
Either use the p-y curves generated from LPile or do a “back and forth” analysis until the displacement in both software converged.
why are you not using p-y curves for lateral stiffness

Why don't you increase your lateral soil stiffness by the amount of inbetween springs you delete? Your sum of lateral forces would not match your results and you get a softer system response?! Please clarify!

I just want to know how to calculate spring stiffness from Lpile.
Assalamualaikum Sir, I'm a civil engineering student and I have some question about this.
1. If I want to know the lateral spring stiffness from LPILE with the cyclic loads, how many "Number of cyclic of loading" sould i enter? The custom was 2 but I don't know what's that, I couldn't find the manual book for this.
2. And if the test pile is hollow precast prestressed concrete pile with a diameter of 300mm and thickness of 60mm (I already entered this on LPILe) and using six-7mm diameter prestressing steel bars with spiral hoop reinforcements with a diameter of 3mm and pitch of 100mm, how do I enter this on LPILE? I already chose the SI units but the unit on this pile section for prestress is different.
3. If the pile is 26m long and embedded to the ground up to 24,8m. The head of pile and the loading point was1,2m and 0,6m from Ground level, respectively, how do I enter this to LPILE as well?
