I just found out that my wife has several tumors and they are glioblastoma. She’s 57 years old and full of life. We are now 3 days away from ending the first round of radiation treatments and chemotherapy/ 04/20/23. This cancer has just sucked the life out of her. So sad to have to witness. I’m just kinda numb and tired and just don’t know what’s next. Prayers are excepted.

33 years ago my sister-in-law had glioblastoma. She had surgery, chemo and radiation. She is still alive today. We call her our Hero. Good luck and sending prayers!

My dad was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in May of 2015. Dr's told us prognosis is about 9-14 months. My dad is still living today, over 8 years later. He was in a clinical trial at Emory University where he was given 25% more radiation. He has been on Temozolomide, and has had 2 resection surgeries. The tumor is in his speech part of his brain so they were not able to remove the entire tumor. He wore opptune for 2 years without recurrence but then showed some recurrence. That's when he had his second resection. Sadly, this week he has been struggling and I think the end may be coming soon. But I share this because I don't want anyone to feel hopeless like we did at first. We have had 8 GOOD years with our dad when we thought we may have lost him the same year he was diagnosed. sending you all my love and prayers for your family member.

Now it’s been 5 weeks since the funeral for my wife I’m just sitting here in deep thought of how just 6 months ago my life was normal. I’m just now coming to terms that I will never get to see my beautiful wife again. This glioblastoma multi form has taken my golden years that we had planned to enjoy and turned them into only memories of what we talked about doing. Now I just pray that one day soon oncologists can find a cause and a cure or at least a treatment that will help lengthen the lives of the victims. I feel so sorry for the families who will in the future have to face such a horrible experience of dealing with this demon!! My heart goes out to everyone who will encounter this!! Stay strong and remember that this life is just a temporary thing and the best is yet to come!! Thanks to Jesus Christ I will get to meet my wife again. When we used to go somewhere we would always say if I don’t make it home I’ll meet you by the river. That’s what I have to hold on to now. Thanks for allowing me to ramble tonight.

I'm sorry for you. My brother has just been told he has this. He's 76 and has always been the life and soul of the party.. he's a good man and has so much to live for.. I'm devastated for him. And for us his family.

my sister was diagnosed and given a year to survive---she survived almost 13 years and got married AND had a normal healthy baby. She died in her 30's. But, she lived 12 years longer than expected. It is thought she may have had it since her teen years but it grew very slowly. Glioblastoma. In her brainstem. Her initial symptoms were eye coordination problems, headaches, and general malaise. Diagnosed at 22 and passed on at age 35. She was diagnosed immediately after college graduation.

Wow she was so lucky to live that long. Did she have any surgery or treatment? Did she do anything different that others with this disease might want to know about? Sorry for your loss, although you got extra years with her, you still lost her to this awful disease. :(

My wife just passed away on 2/10/2023. She was just 60 years old. She had her 1st surgery on 4/15/2020. She got her Quimos and radiation. She was in great shape and spirits, she was walking 1 hr daily. During this time she had the opportunity to see her 4th and fifth grand children. Two years later a regular scan they saw a spot and told her to get operated again on April 2023. She was doing ok when she started nausea and vomiting on August 2023. This was all related and she diagnosed with a brain edema caused by the brain tumor rapidly growing again. On December 2023 we had to put her in Hospice because her health was rapidly declining. She was my wife for 39 years and during the this time we got to say to each other how much we loved each other so this has given me confort and that I thank God that we were were together for all this time and I am blessed that we had 3 children and 5 grand children and that we have to continuo with our life.

Both my mother and brother in law had glioblastoma. My mother had surgery and aggressive treatment and lived a horrible 18 months. I think my brother in law lived about a year. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.

yes, it is the worst and my doctor said it's the worst way to die. Unfortunately, my sister had it and beat all odds---she survived almost 13 years, i would say she had only 4 or 5 "quality of life" years---the rest were very difficult. So--5 years feeling "ok" and 7 years with many problems. I would say the first year and the last 3 years were the worst. She got married and had a baby while she was dealing with this. Which is hard to believe.
Agreed it is so aggressive just keeps grwoing back and then you start over either with another invasive surgery more radiation and chemotherapy all to fight an Incurable cancer. I fight for quality of life I'm at the 2 yr mark now thank you Jesus

My daughter who just celebrated her 16th birthday, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma at 8 years old
She also has heterotopic grey matter, apparently she is the second person to ever have this. Im not sure why more doctors are not studying her. We are from Canada, and I decided to use cannabis as part of her daily treatment. She has been in remission now for 2 years. Genetic testing has been done, and she can have a normal health baby if she decides. Stay positive, believe in yourself, and thank the Lord for everyday we have!!
My husband had a seizure 2/22. He had surgery (100%) and Standard treatment. He is doing VERY well! We are so grateful for this gift of time! His markers were not favorable for TMZ, yet he is on his 8th cycle. He has tolerated the treatments as well as can be expected. He is busy all the time, and not impaired in any way. Thank you Lord!

Unfortunately this cancer is a death sentence for majority of people diagnosed. My father was diagnosed sep 4 2021 after presenting major headaches and memory loss, he passed away 4 months later. We decided to stop chemo and radiation as it was making him worse, was literally like a torture for him , one day he screamed " leave me alone" whilst having radio , he didn't even know where he was.. we decided to look for hospice care instead, for him to be comfortable and pain free during his last days of life. My heart goes for anyone suffering from this terrible cancer and their family, stay strong and give them as much love as humanly possible.

so sorry for your loss Alejandro. I just received word today my sister has been diagnosed with this cancer. This weekend we'll, I'm the older brother, be breaking news to the rest of the family. Ironically, this past weekend i went to my Aunt's wake where she had passed from having this very same cancer too.

Yes it spreads microscopically to form new tumors and invades the brain it will recur at least once after diagnosis and SOC. It's like a chess game

My cousin was diagnosed with this at 46 years old. He lasted just over two years and it was painful to watch his slow spiral downward. I don't wish this disease on anyone.

My uncle had it several years ago. He died within 9 months of diagnosis. So sad!!! He was just about to retire from Ford Motor Company and ended up not even able to enjoy his retirement! 😞
My sister died of this, she had headaches for a while and was told she suffered migraines. By the time they were found she had three…1 in the frontal lobe and two on each side. She died 3 months later….I do think she recognized me, she always hugged me. Now one of my maternal cousins son has it but he is 20 yrs old and has gone through several surgeries and chemo. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 praying for a cure.

My mother died in 1980 about 6 months after her diagnosis of glioastoma multifoeme. She was only 63. She received no treatment except for steroids which made her much like her old self for a few weeks. We were told that it had infiltrated both frontal lobes and that surgery was not an option. I’m glad to hear that there is now some treatment for patients found to have this awful tumor. I was 32 when she died and grieve her still. She deserved so much better.
Gosh we have a lot in common so sorry we both lost our mom's at 63 from this. HUGS

After discussing we didnt go for surgery and he died after six month our entire six month has gone in the hospital....it was very dipressing to watch someone dying slowly

Mo surgery as that's the best option but not always available depending on eherecthectumor is.

Sorry to hear. My mom was diagnosed at 49 and i also never pictured losing my mom around my late 20s. I still feel too young. We are still fighting and i have been there every step. I hope you have kept up the great memories you have with your mom.
I was diagnosed 6 months ago when I was taken by an ambulance in critical condition (it went from "normal migraine" to "looking like an overdose" in a matter of days) and had emergency surgery. I was told that the tumor was in a very lucky position and they could get it all out without damage to any more important parts of my brain, plus I'm only 37 and more or less healthy. Now doing the final months of chemo, and then the MRI will hopefully give me the all clear. :)

Every time I see glioblastoma now it hits my heart with a lot of grief. My Mother went into hospital over a headache and had a scan that found a tumor. She had a biopsy done 3 days later and the night after her biopsy she had a seizure and was put in ICU and intubated. She was in a coma in ICU for 5 days with no sign of improvement, so they had to take her off ICU and she died 2 days later. She was only 57. My Mother passed away on Sept 21st 2022. My Mother was diagnosed with stage 4 Glioblastoma. Glioblastoma is a death sentence 😭
I'm sorry to hear that dude. My mom was also 57 and passed away October 11, 2022. She had a resection May 2021 and we knew the following week that it was GBM. Thankfully, my mom passed away comfortably at our home in her sleep. She was breathing slower and slower and passed away 7 am on a Tuesday morning.
wtf is all this…we need to do something about GBM as a species…GBM and pancreatic cancer…lets pour a lot of cash and speed up clinical trials so the people born now dont need to face this ordeal! Come on! We are stronger than this as a species! Lets unite!

My father in law was diagnosed two years ago. He’s inoperable due to its location on the brain stem. He’s had radiation but only six sessions again due to location. He’s in his late 70s and is currently in hospital due to a chest infection and falls. It’s really difficult at present however how lucky we are. He appears to be kicking its arse. Thank you for the information. We certainly feel unsupported as a family

I'm grateful we had funded temadol here in New Zealand. We also had radiation treatment. My husband died at 42. GBM is not treatable. Enjoy the time you have left with your loved one ❤ I really appreciate the hospice care we had. I was able to keep him at home.
my sister was on temadol and went to sloan kettering memorial hospital in NYC for it. It bought her 3 or 4 extra years. She was 21 when diagnosed and miraculously, she lived to age 35. Because she was so young, she got married and had a baby (which shocked her). All while she was waiting to die. She had it over 12 years, a very prolonged case but she knew a man who had it over 11 years, they became friends.

My dad got diagnosed March last year, nearly no symptoms leading up to it. He went in one day to be seen for something and was informed of this. lost him 2 months later
Lost my mom to this 9 days ago. Six months after first symptoms (confusion and heavy sleepiness) and 1.5 months after diagnosis (followed by a seizure two days later, and it only got worse from there). I had never heard of this and it was heartbreaking to see someone who loved life so much dying a little bit more every day. For everyone going through this themselves or through a loved one, know that you are not alone.
God bless you. my mom was diagnosed with this type of cancer... Doctors said they can't remove the tumor. Now is all about enjoying the rest of the days by her side.
@@rennex7172 I’m so, so sorry for you and your mom. Please enjoy your time together as much as possible and tell her you love her every chance you can. And make sure she was given a drug to avoid seizures (the seizure was what made it all worse for my mom, she wasn’t given any from the start, and the seizure was what sped up her decline). Also a corticoid for the swelling.

After my mom’s big seizure and she was put on medication, she never had a big one like that again, but I suspect she kept getting shorter ones. This disease is devastating. Thinking of you and your family

My super healthy wife was diagnosed at 30. She had just had our third child. Thankfully 2.5 years later she’s doing very well. She did standard treatment. No recurrence. She has some limitations, but she’s adjusted well. I’m proud of her. There’s more longterm survivors of this than you think. I’ve met so many!

My dad died of glioblastoma. He died 2 months after being diagnosed. In hindsight we noticed a little cognitive decline and he was having headaches. An ambulance was called when he suddenly had what we were first told, was a stroke. He had a horrible headache & couldn’t talk. He never came home again after that day. I personally am haunted by GBM & hope it’s not hereditary. They don’t know for sure but there are cases of multiple family members getting it. I sure hope there is a break-through soon.

My Dad died passed away with a glioblastoma and has been the only one to develop that, nobody else in the whole family. The researches show no evidence there's an heredity for this kind of tumor. So we can keep hope 🙏
@@mim8099I, like you, find comfort in the fact that most of the time gbm’s are not hereditary. Only 5% of the time do they affect more than 1 family member. There are documentaries & I believe TH-cam videos where they show such families where multiple people have it. Overall, it’s rare for it to be familial.This is information based on what I have read & heard about via news, online, tv, talking to Dr’s etc.
My 70 year old grandpa was diagnosed in late February and we are now at the end stage of his life only 4 months later.

My wife found out she had this terrible condition on March of 2023 and she passed this morning July 4 2023. This is the worst thing I’ve ever been through!!

I was diagnosed with a GBM in November. Had surgery and my radiation. We will have a long wait for an MRI.

My cousin was diagnosed 2 years ago. She had 2 surgeries and all the radiation she can have. Around Christmas they told us the tumor was gone and gave her 5 more years. 2 weeks later they said it was back and aggressive. She just had her 45th birthday and is in hospice now with zero quality of life. 3 kids under the age of 10. Tragic
There is no cure so it must have been hiding

My mother was diagnosed from 3 months ....now we are just lost...abt what should we do ...she is very well she doesn't have headaches or vomiting...the only issue that she has is difficulty with her right hand ...3 months past away without any sign of emergency surgery or radiotherapy or even chemical treatment...we past this last 3 months praying for her trying to make her fill better how ever it's not easy ....may god bless my mom & help her to be better so soon....
My son was unable to have surgery. It took 6 months before doctors were able to even give us a diagnosis. He died 2 years later. He was 32. Cancer sucks.
My son was diagnosed in March of 2020. He died in April 2021. He was also 32.
My son’s tumor was inoperable. He lived 2 years. Cancer is a horrific disease.

My grandpa got diagnosed with this in April, two weeks after I had to place my dog down and he has another tumor they found recently and they are giving him two months to live. 😭
My grandson has had a tumor since his 22nd birthday. He’s had 4 surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy several times. He celebrated his 35th birthday in January and now he’s in his final stages of his life. It’s the worst cancer that steals life. I pray for some kind of breakthrough in the treatment so others don’t have to suffer from it. He’s really tired and he said he’s ready to meet God. He was my first love and I know he’s going to be waiting for us when it’s our time to cross.

Get your vitamin d level checked. My best friend has this and is on his second surgery and his doctors have been ignoring his vitamin d level the whole time for his treatment and it’s low . I’m making him take 30,000 IU a day now.
My father in law, some twenty years ago, died within 12 months after he found out. He had a surgery, but didn't help much.

My dad had glioblastoma stage 3, we found at December and doctors rushed him to remove tumour, he was good for about 15 days then he started regressing. He left us in February, I sincerely pray that no one should get this, it's like a hell, u can't help or ease their pain. My dad was full of life before but after got diagnosed with glioblastoma he was losing sense day by day, it's like the time is ticking away. He lost the memory and he lost awareness and motor activities. He was slowly fading away from us day by day

First of all I pray for all patients and families who bravely celebrate their remain days of life accompanying with their beloved ones. We will all die maybe after this comment maybe 5 10 or 50 years later. Secondly I think it is very emergent for human society to focus on the research and accelerate studies about "genetic engineering field" demonstrating a new fundamental treatments based on rearranging the DNA structures of human body which not only can be helpful for curing cancers but also for many rare bad diseases. again God bless GBM patients. We will return to the space which we had been before our born then we have an endless joy all.
Back in 1995, my dad passed away from astrocytoma followed 5 years later with a glioblastoma. Is it the case that glioblastoma still Always comes back?
Glioblastoma has an extremely high rate of recurrence, regardless of treatment. It has been classified as a "life shortening" disease.
My uncle lasted 13 months from the day he passed out at work.
A friend had to stay in bed because every time he got out of bed he passed out.
A boss at work went to the doctor when he found himself acting irrationally and knew there was something wrong.

Im heading into month24 ty for sharing your story it is a heartbreaking duagnosis . There is no cure only the harsh treatments thatt will givevyou more time to live but with the good/best quality of life too when making your decisions as you pioneer this canceruncharted land pray on all those tough decisions you have to maketoo,make a planA plan B ❤

The treatments do not enhance quality of life rvryvtime thirime mycqyaility of life is worse other ten I'm still alive snd now blind in my left decrezsed cognitionleft eyeball 4x I. The last 2 days hurting and Ll bruised I'll need a sitter now as I was able to get up off the road but made my leg frying to get up fromthe for very psin full snd sore

I was diagnosed with this in November after a couple of seizures. Had my brain surgery really quick but was told on the biopsy result what kind of tumour it is and what the outcome would be.

you can live longer than they expect---my sister survived over 12 years. She was on different types of chemo including Temadol. If you can, go to sloan memorial kettering hospital in NYC and columbia presbyterian in NYC. She did. She was given a year or so to survive and she survived 12x longer than that. She was young--22 and she got married and had a baby which was a shock to her. She became sick after college graduation. Her son is now in his 20's, she died when he was 6. Just remember---there are people who live alot longer than expected. She knew a man who survived 11 years too. Sending you positive vibes.

My Dad was recently diagnosed with this and starts radiation from end of next month, what can I expect? Other than knowing he has it, he says he feels normal though suffering tiredness and dizziness once in a while.
My dad had a seizure in nov 2018 and sent to the hospital with a suspected stroke, but it was glioblastoma. They had him in for surgery shortly after and put him on chemo, radiation and a cocktail of experimental drugs. The entire family was expecting the worst and we were fearing that the christmas in 2018 would be last Christmas together. He responded well to the chemo and since summer 2020 he has nothing at all showing up in the MRI scans. He is not cured, as there is almost a 100% relapse rate, but we are positive now that he will survive past 5 years.
My point is that there is always room to be hopeful. Staying physically active helps a lot as your body can handle the drugs better. But I would still prepare for the worst, do everything you want to do with your dad NOW, waiting is not an option.
My husband was diagnosed in 2019, while we were on vacation 2 weeks later he had biopsy done, started proton therapy and oral chemotherapy, is 2023 and we live a normal life! Thank God. do not loose hope I'm more than thankful and I'm sure we will stay together for many years!!
First of all everyone’s tumor is in a different location and everyone is unique. Treatments also are unique to your situation. So much depends on where you seek help and if you participate in trials.

My only advice would be to make sure he’s taking something to avoid seizures and a corticoid to avoid swelling (discuss with his doctors Ofc) and tell him you love him as often as you can. My mom was diagnosed in March and unfortunately did not make it. But she had a seizure that made it all worse because they didn’t give her anything for seizures even though this disease is expected to cause seizures.
Best thing we know to do in my sister’s situation is to make sure she is treated at a really good teaching hospital, support her decisions regarding treatment and listen and don’t be pushy about helping. She has had surgery and of course needed help for several weeks after. She allowed us to be with her for all appointments leading up to treatment. However, she lives alone (widow no children) and doesn’t want her sisters around right now as she begins week two of treatment. Granted the tumor was found early, it was in a “favorable” location and removal was complete - as complete as possible given the nature of these tumors. She remains active, was otherwise quite healthy and can driver herself and manage her affairs and medications. I want to add that she does not have a positive attitude. She expects the absolute worst and is an atheist, so lots of unwanted advise and prayers simply annoy her. She has vowed never to have any treatments that involve hair loss or head shaving. She understands there is no cure and that her death will come too and that it is inevitable. She took care of her husband for 14 awful months while he was dying of Lewy Body Dementia. Just 2 years later, while still grieving, this news diagnosis has has overwhelmed us all. Reread my first sentence and start there. It’s key.
Hi Doctor , my brother 40 yrs got 2nd time open head craniotomy skull surgey 6 months ago. Till today he cant able to use his right hands and finger and right leg buckling. Stage 3 type. Can you pls recommend us how to make him recover fully on his right hand weakness and be like last year Dec 22. He is normal and after surgey he become one sided fully not able to move. Solid cystic lesion is noted 10 cm involving right cerebral with surrounding areas of gliosis in subcortical white matter along with cortical atrophy. Multiple enhancing nodules are also noted in vicinity of solid cystic lesion. There is associated midline shift of 8 mm towards left side in form of subfalcine herniation leading to effacement of ipsilateral lateral ventricle and dilatation of contralateral lateral ventricle.

My husband was diagnosed in September of 2016, and passed away in February of 2017. This cancer is the worst thing ever. It sucked the life out of a wonderful husband and father. No radiation, or chemo helped him nothing worked. It’s terrible to watch an otherwise healthy man turn into a vegetable.

Wow that was so amazing...my dear sister has glioblastoma. She had chemo, radiation, optune and her mris stayed clean for approximately 18 months. She just now is showing symptoms that it is back. I treasure the months that her mind was all there, not all patients even get that through this horrible disease. I don't want to lose her...my heart aches.

No. My mom had Glioblastoma and passed in 2002. It has nothing to do with any vaccines. My mother didn't have any vaccines within 25 years of her death.

It was on the increase before Covid. My brother passed away in 2009 at age 44. It is very aggressive. If they can remove most of the tumor with surgery, it can buy you more time. My brother's was inoperable near his brain stem.
