Thanks for this fantastic lesson! I’ve sat down to learn this song numerous times over the years and kept giving up. Learned this in an hour thanks to you!
I go to the key change in G. He ends in G on his recording. I start the same way he does it now and you are showing. The key change comes when he sings, "Boy welcome home..." then the chorus in G.
Hello Hal... EXCELLENT tutorial for a great tune! Used to play it for my kids (that was 30 yrs ago!). One little thing: when you're near the end of the bridge (or chorus), you play A / B7 / G# minor / C# minor / D / B7. I listened really closely to the original version and it sounded like a D maj7.... Anyway it sounds fine the way you're playin it!! Thanks again!!
Thank you Hal ! I didn't know this tune (Kenny Loggins being quasi unknown here in France) but when I heard your interpretation I knew I had to learn it !
You have a complimentary voice similar to Kenny. Also you have heart & soul friend. Would love to figure out the interlude he plays, I subscribed hoping you might work it out. Blessings ❤
Nice one for finger picking. I'll learn that one. I've thoroughly learned your version of The Way You Look Tonight. I play it all the time at home and at work, it's a fave. Thanks!
Excellent tutorial. I've played guitar for over 50 years and I used to play this song for my own children ( I only wish I could again today) if I didn't have arthritis so bad I would go in and pick up my Taylor right now but, alas it's impossible. Great vid on a great song. You play very well. Thank you
Yeah, I'm 70 and I tear up too playing this song. Too many good memories.

I have an old Loggins and Messina songbook, it shows the ends of the chorus go from the C#m to Dmaj7
Beautiful rendition of a great song and very well explained. And you're definitely not the only one to occasionally tear up. Keep up the good work.
Thanks my friend for the kind words.

I’ve been wanting to play this song but it’s such a hassle coz I have to transpose it since it’s low for me.
