Yes! Crisp articulation is so important, sometimes when singing fast I start to mumble the words to get away with it…but then there’s no point of singing the song if no one can understand the lyrics you’re singing. This is so accurate!
The only thing that scares me about fast singing is going off key and messing up the whole thing! Thank you so much for making these video and giving these tips and exercises. I think I’ll become much more confident doing these!
Love this! I was using "Humm diddle diddle diddle hum diddle-ai" from Mary Poppins. Since it seems like the "L" is the trippiest consonant sound.. I realize that "Th" is also a trippy consonant sound too. Getting is right is critical for good sound.
I am reviewing this video and saw my comment from a year ago. I still find L to be a trippy consonant. Been working on "Prince Ali" from Aladdin for my fast song. 😅 A real challenge! (Especially the end) "Ali" is a tricky word to sing because the L Preceding the ee uses up the tongue (lifts the tip and depresses the back) when the ee needs it to rest. So the L can muddy the ee. I got past it with intonation of the ee.
@@Victoria-Victorious I use to sing a song from a cartoon in my childhood. Super Chicken. I had to learn to speak it and then speed it up so I can sing it. Great little ditty to get one flowing with fast singing.

Awesome Victoria thanks. I sing Down at the Twist and Shout. Gosh that song is fast. When we went to karaoke last week, I sang Down at the Twist and Shout, and I heard someone say 'Is she gonna breathe? Lol!
hello! I get to be the first commenter on this one. thank you for your wonderful videos. I have been working on the fast passages of Rejoice greatly from "The Messiah" for many years now. I think I am almost there. This video was helpful. I have watched many singers perform this on youtube. Some seem to do the melismas with a hahaha feel, and others are completely legato with one note just running into the other. I am trying to figure out the healthiest and prettiest method for my voice- a lyric soprano. Any suggestions? Sylvia McNair and Lynne Dawson are my favorites so far. They are both smooth and clear and not forced or choppy. Breath control and agility have to work together just right. Not sure if you have a coloratura video or would do one. Thanks again!

I'd like to learn to sing. Do you do virtual lessons? Or can you recommend a virtual coach? Should I take your exercise program? How do I learn what type of voice I have to know which lesson to buy?
My private studio is full and has a very long waitlist. As far as my exercise training program, I generally recommend getting the low to medium voice type if you are not sure. That would be bass/baritone for men and alto/mezzo for women. That works for most beginners. If it is too low, you have 30 days to exchange for the higher voice type.
hi thanks for your amazing videos!✨ i’m an opera student it’s my last year in conservatory but i still have a problem with singing bright. i really don’t know what is wrong with me i sometimes can catch it and sing so bring but sometimes i sing so dark and i can’t bring my voice in front to make it sound brighter(i’m dramatic coloratura soprano). can u please give me some advice?:( i’m about to graduate and it’s embarrassing that i still need to deal with this problem… i can’t sing queen of night like a mezzo singing carman :(
Without hearing and seeing you, I am going to assume that you are depressing the root of your tongue, which then depresses the larynx, causing a false color.
