I grew up with Wayne and I always felt that he had more creative genes in his little finger than any of the new so-called musicians. He spent hours and hours learning to play the guitar on his own. He was persistent in his "need" to be creative and wrote many very popular songs and jingles. I remember living with Wayne and his family when they were living with our family in Denver Colorado. Wayne enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be missed. I am sure he is somewhere beyond that "cinnamon sky" that he wrote about, making music for the angels. Tom Nelson Wayne's cousin from Denver
No one sang it like Wayne. Loved him so much!

The loss of a song writer a poet.
Thanks for the music!
My dad Pat Shikany recorded a lot of Wayne's stuff and is amazed that it's now on the internet. Thanks for posting this!
Rest in peace Wayne Carson
Wayne had a huge influence on my attempt to break into the Nashville writers scene. I learned too much - what a genius!
The answer is yes. Wayne Carson wrote "Always On My Mind" and "The Letter" plus many, many more.
We had hours of his songwriter's demos. It was humbling and educational.
Did he write that song? And also the letter by the Box Tops? Thanks For posting!
hay que volver a la originalidad... impecable
Kind of amazing that Wayne sounds quite a bit like Willie Nelson on this song. It's a beautiful song...always been a favorite of mine.
