  • After straddling a 1997 Fat Boy for over 15 years I felt it was time to crossover to a Street Glide. So I found a sweet deal on a 2013 model and this is my first ride on this type of bike. It is also the inspiration for a new video series I'm calling STREET GLIDE LIFE, sponsored by TUCKER.com
    Head over to TUCKER.com for all of your Harley, Sportbike, Dirt Bike and Side by Side needs. They got it all!

      MOTO PILOT check out Klock Werks windshield. They are the ONLY way to go! The engineering that goes into their shields is out of this world. Plus the sport flare looks sick!

    I bought that Goldwing that you reviewed a while back. I put a touring windscreen on it, highway pegs, and run flat car tire. Saw a guy today with that same bike that you just bought and he had a chrome 24 front--looked goofy. Thanks for sharing your new ride!

    Said by others but true. Head buffeting is mostly air coming under the fairing and around the tank and shaking your head. Try putting your feet on the engine guards with your knees hugging the tank. I’ll bet the buffeting goes away - and you found where the turbulent air was coming from. Now to fix it. Wings on the bottom of the fairing help. A tank lift helps. NOT the “fangs” unless you want to cook your engine. They reduce buffeting but redirect the air that WAS cooling your engine.

    Radio does have the volume control that gets louder when you increase speed. So you set to low volume for stopped at light and louder as you ride. The mode button for the radio AM/FM Aux etc. I have a 2008 Harley Road Glide very similar controls. Looking forward to series, I like the idea of upgrading the forks and other ideas you share. Thanks

    Get yourself some lower faring wind deflectors . It takes a lot of the head buffeting away ! Hard to believe but most buffeting comes from below not above !!! I ride an 18 Street Glide Anv. STD .

    I had a 2012 Streetglide. I put the Aquatic AV AQ-MP-5BT-H great water proof plug and play and you can bluetooth your phone to it so you can listen to your own music. I also put the wheels from a 2015 Streetglide on it and was very happy with the look and handling not 21'but lots cheaper and looked better.

    Tank lift, fork fangs (but trim them down so they aren't so long, that way your engine still gets air to stay cool). Do the tank lift, then trim the fork fangs down, test ride, trim down again, test ride, ect ect, until you just begin to feel some air and them leave them at that length. You'll eliminate most of the buffeting but your engine will still get air. You're trying to achieve a jet stream that swoops over the engine (under the newly lifted tank(, but DOESNT swoop OVER the tank.

    You should look at a Lindby Custom Magnumbar Highway Bar (Matte Black) for example. This is what I got on my '12 fatty low and they are super comfortable and look great. A stage III upgrade would be awesome for touring on the 103 and makes a huge difference. But that's a winter project. I like to hear my bike, not music, so I took the radio out of my 04 electra and put in a glove box for handy storage like the police bikes. I don't like the mirrors on the batwing either as they vibrate way more there than on the bars. If you put a bigger wheel on the front, then that's the time to put in progressive springs and then lowering to level the bike again. I would also switch out the oem air ride for progressive shocks on the rear also. All jmho. Looking forward to these videos.

    • @MOTOPILOT6
      @MOTOPILOT6  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dude you're awesome. I dig those Highway Bars. Much more aggressive and include a place for your feet. Stage III is pretty low on my list of updates but we all like more power. And I do have plans for the forks that involves using the Progressive Suspension Monotube Cartridge Kit (improved resistance to front end dive and ability to lower the from 1" to 2" ). I'm stoked.

    I recently got a 2013 street glide as well. And one of the things I noticed as well was the wind hitting my helmet. It made it so difficult to ride long trips. I ended up buying fork fangs, and that solved some of my helmet buffeting. But I still have not solved the issue to where I am completely happy.

    I have a 14’ street glide stage 2.
    I have about $20,000 in upgrades on it including the Sony XAV 7000. There’s not another bike out there I would rather have.
    I am also running a 21” wheel up front.
    I love it. It looks awesome. However slow speed maneuvering is a little bit hairy at first until you get used to it. It just feels like the front end wants to dive into the turn at slow speed but it’s nothing that can’t be resolved with building up some muscle memory

      MOTO PILOT honestly not sure about HD. But I’ve got a Victory Cross Country Tour, and it has adjustable “vents” at the lower portion of the fairing that cut way down on buffeting. Quick Google search shows that the Street Glides suffer from bad buffeting.

      @@MOTOPILOT6 Yes. There is everything from clear plastic wind deflectors that attach to the sides of the front forks under the fairing, to canvas/leather covers that go on the crash bar I mentioned in another post. You could also go with the lowers like on the ultra, but then they would be in the way when you want to put your feet up, and they just look bulky. Ruins the look imo.
