- Building A farm From Scratch In Buriram, Thailand การสร้างฟาร์มตั้งแต่เริ่มต้นที่บุรีรัมย์ ประเทศไทย
Watch as we begin our journey of building a farm from scratch in Buriram Thailand. The journey begins with us starting to fill in a 4 rai plot of land that was used as a rice field. Please like and subscribe and leave any comments you have about our journey. Are we crazy, foolish or brave? You tell us and enjoy the ride.

I am looking forward to watching your progress
Hi Melvin. Thanks for the comment and thanks for joining us on our journey. 🙏🙏
FYI I Google this. On average, it takes between 5 to 10 years for disturbed or loosened soil to naturally settle and compact. However, consistent water exposure can expedite this settling process. If you install concrete on soil that has been majorly disturbed within the last 5 to 10 years, you run a high risk of your concrete settling.
If you build a house before the soil settles the house will crack and eventually collapse.
That is why we won't be building the house for a year. Also, building house techniques in Thailand take this into account. My last house is still standing after ten years and will be here for many more years. 🙂
Just found your channel, will watch you videos and catch up... Tony & Rin
Thanks Tony, 😊
ดีจังเลยค่ะซื้อดินรถละ300 บาทมาถมราคาถูกมากๆๆค่ะแถวบ้านพี่นครศรีธรรมราชและสมุยราคารถละ1,100-1,300บาทเลยค่ะ
Yes, the price does vary depending where you live. A friend of mine paid 800 baht per truck in Cha-Am. Thanks for the comment.
Well done
Thanks Chris
Will be good to watch your journey.
Maybe Dan from Thai Talk with Dan needs to meet you, he lives in Burriram and would benefit from a positive story like yours to keep his spirits high !
Interesting idea, but I am not sure my kind of story fits his channel. I do watch his videos and have subbed his channel. Maybe if he contacts me I would consider having a chat.
3m high 4 rai I doubt 1500 trucks is even close
My missus manages to dump 100 trucks at our house near yasothon and you can barely see the difference
BTW imho you should get the engineer in first
Good luck with it
Thanks for the comment. I tend to agree with the amount required and always work upwards on Thai guesstimates. The engineer has already been and looked and advised us to fill it in then let it settle for a while. That being said. No rush on getting things done. How much was the soil in Yasothon? It seems to vary around each province.
@@lemonfarmthailand a truck means many things in Thailand I have found
Back of envelope call here
1 rai = 1600sqm
4 rai = 6400sqm
At average height 2.5m that’s 16000 cum dirt
How bigs the truck? Say 4 ton? That’s 4000 truckloads. If it’s what my wife regards as a truck it’s a Toyota 1 tonner haha then it’s 16000 truckloads but that’s before settling. I am assuming you want to get the whole farm above the floodline. If you’ve paid a fixed price to do that then it’s simply a matter of surveying the levels once they are finished
I like your idea with lemons and interested to hear about the economics of them and how much maintenance they require etc we’ve only been doing rice but looking to diversify and crop all year round. Very hard to even break even with rice last few years
What province are you in mate ?
We are in Buriram, Lahan Sai.
@@lemonfarmthailand I’ve not been there yet mate, I’ve been through there on the coach though.
Love your channel mate, I found it via @ricky from issan.
Was this your wife’s family farm or did you buy it a few years ago?
Hi, this has been in my wife's family for many years and was signed over to her about 5 years ago. The main issue was that it has been used for rice growing. Hence why we are having to fill in the land. Thanks for the comment. Very much appreciated 😍
